Description
My wife, Gwyneth, and I are both now retired but have no intention of just sitting around doing nothing. We are both fit and healthy and enjoy traveling and staying active. Over the last two years we have completed two caminos in Spain, the Camino Francés and the Via de la Plata and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of walking long distances each day and then relaxing in a different hostel every night. Of course it also gave us the opportunity to meet interesting people from all around the world which was an added bonus.
We then discovered Workaway and as a result, at the end of last year, we completed our first two workaways, both of them in Spain. The first one was for three weeks on a small farm in Andalucía and the second one involved house sitting and looking after some cats and chickens, in Galicia. We had a great time at both locations and made some more wonderful friendships. We were then invited to help out running a small hostel, again in Galicia, while the owner was away for ten days.
This year we have completed another four Workaways, two in Ecuador and two more in Spain where we also spent three weeks in a language school learning to speak Spanish.
We are keen to continue our desire to visit and explore places we haven’t been to before and can assure any prospective hosts we will always try our very best to do a good job and have fun whilst making new friends.
