Description
I've established a forest garden orchard and house based on permaculture principles. It feels invigorating to live in an area that attracts a lifestyle and people who want to be closer to the land, in community, with Georgian Bay closeby, and having the big city a certain distance away.
I've been hosting on other work exchange platforms for 10 years, hosting on average 20 guests a year, and have 2 trailers and a tiny house to host more people and elevate our spirits. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
I think of guests being a part of my farmily. We need our personal time, and sometimes the weather says to go hiking, or we carpool to town. Community events, parties, chat and games after dinner,...
Fermentation, foraging, forest gardening, and permaculture is in my blood. I teach tai chi in town. Also like connecting about how our background builds our philosophy, personal growth, culture, politics, emotions, and more. -
Help
I'm looking for the the right people to help take that leap from sustaining to thriving. Tasks and responsibilities range from more straightforward tasks such as weeding and harvesting and cooking, to more specific or longer range tasks possibly specific to your area of interest. Building/construction tasks are possible depending on timing and your interest, typically carpentry and support, with more specialized and dangerous tasks hired out to professionals.
Depending on the task, there's some flexibility on working on tasks alone or in groups. I have a strong belief in mutual support and open feedback as we try to live more in community, which often means being open to giving and receiving feedback, and self-reflection. -

Accommodation
There are 2 large trailers and a tiny house that are near the house, with power and wifi and nearby compost toilet or indoor toilet.Otherwise inside the house, there is 1 private bedroom inside the house, and scattered open areas. Tenting is also an option. All bedding is provided.
Staple ingredients are available for food. We tend to cook and eat together most of the time and depending on dietary restrictions. We're mostly vegetarian with meat once a week if desired. I myself am avoiding gluten dairy soy and a few other things out of choice. -
What else ...
I have friends who come up from Toronto for the weekend, so with enough notice I can try to connect you with a ride.
Otherwise, Flix Bus runs pretty much daily from Toronto.
There is a walking trail on the property, and another trailhead within walking distance.
We are 6km to Meaford and 20km to Owen Sound, and carpooling is an option on days I go to town. Otherwise there are bicycles available. -
