Description
I am Sally and originally from Johannesburg in South Africa. At 53 years old, I know that life is worth experiencing for all it has to offer. In 2019, I decided to travel and see the world and I took a sabbatical that included some Workaway in France which I enjoyed tremendously. I settled in France for a bit during covid and then moved to Ireland where I am still based. My children are grown up and living their own lives in Europe. Besides being a mom, I was a social worker and had a small and successful private practice which I moved online when covid came. I was a digital nomad of sorts, offering my counselling online (mostly to South Africans) while travelling and doing Workaway. When I settled in Ireland, where I have lived the last 4 years, I have been working with the Irish Blood transfusion service on the mobile team travelling around and collecting blood from donors. A job I have enjoyed tremendously.

I enjoy being able to work and live in new places experiencing life as a local rather than a tourist. Meeting new people and experiencing sunrises, sunsets, nature and the weather in many different locations is meaningful to me. I learnt some French and am learning Spanish now. I have decided to start my adventures again and will be workawaying from April in Spain. I enjoy the Workaway life and the opportunities for getting to meet people and experience life as a local.

I have a variety of skills that include cooking, gardening, driving, administration and learning, I ran and maintained my house and home for over 20 years. I am an excellent organiser and planner. I love being active, doing a variety of crafts and interacting with people. So far as a workaway, I have done gardening, weeding, painting, grouting, pointing, DIY, mending, sewing, cleaning, organising stuff and cooking,
I of course have a lot of business, IT and professional skills with counselling, trauma therapy and training, and my latest experience in phlebotomy, but my Workaway does not involve these skills.

I am easy going and keen to do any work. Variety is great! I would like to learn Spanish, experience different cultures and the Spanish culture. I hope to embracethe Spanish way of life. I love walking, yoga and being in nature.

Sally spent a week with Stephan & myself, she achieved an immense amount of re-organising; de-cluttering a very dynamic person & although she says she is a city lady, the milking parlour beckoned & Stephan had a new helper, we both welcome Sally's presence on our farm anytime!!

Amy and Valarie were great hosts and have become my friends. The work was removing old plaster and sand from the walls in the forge to reveal the old and original stones. It was quite physical work but great fun and rewarding to see the stones again. Clearing and cleaning of an attic and old building created some variety. The hours were relaxed… read more
