Hello everyone! 👋

I’m Bjørn Egil, a curious and dedicated creator from Norway with a passion for craftsmanship, renovation, and meaningful connections with people – especially children and youth.
I love exploring life through new adventures, learning from others, and embracing every opportunity to grow, share, and create.

🛠️ About Me

Craftsmanship & renovation:
I’m a trained cabinetmaker and woodcarver, experienced in restoration, painting (both indoor and outdoor), and general home maintenance. I’ve restored two large houses on my own in Norway and love working with my hands to bring old things back to life.

Gardening & sustainability:
I grow my own vegetables at home and enjoy helping with gardens, light outdoor work, and sustainable projects that connect people with nature.

Working with people:
I’m educated in child and youth work and have long experience supporting people with disabilities and mental health challenges. I’ve also led creative workshops in woodturning and craft for young people – I truly enjoy seeing others experience the joy of creating something themselves.

✨ About FriFerd – My Ongoing Project

I’m the founder of FriFerd – Freedom through Travel and Activities, a non-profit initiative exploring inclusive travel and accessibility across Europe.
As part of this, I’m documenting my journey through different countries to map accessibility, explore local cultures, and meet inspiring people who make a difference in their communities.

Through FriFerd, I aim to raise awareness about accessibility, inclusion, and mental well-being, while encouraging others to follow their dreams, no matter their challenges.

🚗 My Journey & Workaway Goals

Over the last few years, I’ve been on a long and meaningful journey through Europe – mostly traveling by car and staying with wonderful hosts through Workaway:

🇮🇹 5 months in Italy (2023–2024) – working on renovation, gardening, and cultural exchange projects.
🇱🇻 2 months in the Baltics (2024) – exploring local traditions and accessibility in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.
🇧🇦 4½ months across the Balkans and Turkey (2024–2025) – from Slovenia and Croatia to Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia, and into Turkey, combining volunteering with accessibility mapping.

Each place has taught me something new about life, people, and resilience.

Now, I’m preparing for my next chapter – traveling through Spain and France – to continue the FriFerd project, meet new hosts, and learn more about how communities live, share, and create together.

♿ Adaptability

I’m a walking wheelchair user – I use an electric wheelchair for longer distances, but I’m fully independent and adapt easily to most environments.
I can walk stairs slowly when there’s something to hold on to, and I always find practical ways to contribute within my capacity.

I appreciate honest communication and mutual respect – that’s the foundation of any good collaboration.
