Description
Hi, I'm Bjørn from Norway
I come from the mountains and fjords of Western Norway, but for the last three years, Europe has felt a little bit like home too.
What started as a simple wish to see more of the world has turned into a journey through more than 30 countries, thousands of kilometres on the road, and countless conversations around kitchen tables, campfires, farms and family homes.
For me, Workaway has never been about free accommodation.
It has always been about people.
I believe the best way to understand a place is not by visiting it as a tourist, but by becoming part of everyday life for a while. Sharing meals. Solving problems together. Learning how people live, think and dream.
Professionally, I am trained as a cabinetmaker and woodcarver, and I enjoy working with my hands. Over the years I have restored houses, painted interiors and exteriors, repaired furniture, worked in gardens, organised workshops and helped with practical projects of all kinds.
Back home in Norway I have restored two large houses, and I genuinely enjoy seeing a project move from idea to reality.
I also have experience working with children, young people, people with disabilities and mental health challenges. Some of the most meaningful moments in my travels have not come from the work itself, but from the people I have met along the way.
A practical note: I use an electric wheelchair for longer distances and have some physical limitations. However, I travel independently, drive across Europe on my own, and have successfully completed many Workaway stays involving painting, maintenance, organisation, childcare and practical projects. I am used to finding solutions, adapting tasks and working with what is possible rather than focusing on limitations.
Alongside my travels, I am building a project called Right to Move, where I document accessibility, inclusion and travel experiences across Europe. Through this work I meet people from different cultures and backgrounds while exploring how travel can become more accessible for everyone.
If you are looking for someone who is practical, reliable, curious and easy to live with, I would love to hear from you.
I may arrive in a wheelchair.
But what I really bring with me are stories, experience, a willingness to help, and a genuine interest in people.
Because in the end, the places we remember are usually not the places at all.
They are the people.

From the very first moment, I was welcomed with such warmth – not just into their home, but into their hearts. I felt like I belonged. I thought two weeks might feel long, but instead, it felt like I had been there for two months – in the best possible way.
We shared many good conversations – deep, real, and… read more
It has been a pleasure getting to know you in Treska Gora. I truly appreciate your warm welcome and all the wonderful moments we’ve shared.
