Travelling
Activities i am interested in:
I love traveling across Europe with my car, exploring new places, cultures and ways of living.
This year I’m focusing on connecting with families and small communities to learn, share and contribute. My next destination:
Municipiul Sighişoara, Romania - from Jun 2026 until Jun 2026 View all
Description
My name is Bjørn Egil, and I come from the mountains and fjords of Norway.
I’m a practical, creative, and open-minded person who enjoys building, fixing, growing, and connecting with people. For me, Workaway is about more than work — it’s about cultural exchange, trust, and becoming part of everyday life somewhere new.
Over the past three years, I have travelled across Europe, living with families, working on farms, helping with renovation projects, and learning from different cultures. These experiences have shaped me deeply and taught me patience, adaptability, and gratitude.
🛠️ What I do
I’m a trained cabinetmaker and woodcarver, with solid experience in:
• Painting (indoor and outdoor)
• Home renovation and restoration
• Furniture repair and practical maintenance
• Gardening and outdoor work
• Organising and improving spaces
Back home in Norway, I have restored two large houses myself, and I love practical work where I can see progress and create something useful.
👥 Working with people
I also have a background in child and youth work, and years of experience supporting people with disabilities and mental health challenges.
I enjoy working with people just as much as working with my hands. Good conversations, shared meals, and everyday teamwork are often the best part of any stay.
🌍 My project – Right to Move
Alongside my travels, I run Right to Move — an independent initiative focused on accessible travel and inclusion.
Through real journeys across Europe, I document accessibility, meet people, and explore how travel can become more inclusive in practice — not just on paper.
For me, this is not only about mobility. It is about freedom, human connection, and understanding how people live across borders.
🚗 My journey so far
I have travelled and worked in countries including Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Spain, and the Baltic countries.
My tasks have included:
• Renovation work
• Gardening
• House maintenance
• Childcare
• Daily practical support
Each place has taught me something valuable.
♿ About accessibility
I use an electric wheelchair for longer distances, but I am independent and used to adapting to different environments.
Accessibility does not have to be perfect — I just appreciate honest communication so I can plan ahead.
💪 What I can offer
✅ Painting and light renovation
✅ Gardening and outdoor projects
✅ Furniture repair and practical help
✅ Housework and organising
✅ Support with children and youth activities
✅ Cultural exchange and sharing travel experiences
I work hard, adapt easily, and always try to contribute positively to the people and places I stay.
🌱 Why Workaway?
Because I believe the best way to understand a place is to live in it.
Not as a tourist — but as part of everyday life.
To help. To learn. To share.
And hopefully leave something good behind.
If you think I could be a good fit for your home or project, I’d be happy to hear from you.

From the very first moment, I was welcomed with such warmth – not just into their home, but into their hearts. I felt like I belonged. I thought two weeks might feel long, but instead, it felt like I had been there for two months – in the best possible way.
We shared many good conversations – deep, real, and… read more
It has been a pleasure getting to know you in Treska Gora. I truly appreciate your warm welcome and all the wonderful moments we’ve shared. This has been a meaningful and enriching time, where I’ve learned so much about both Novo Mesto and Treska Gora. I’m grateful for the opportunity to explore two different wineries and… read more

All the best frome Bjørn in Norway!
