Description
I'm Lara, I've been doing Workaway for several years and I live in a shared housing project where we also host several workawayers every year.
For me, Workaway is a great opportunity to travel and meet people, discover cultures, learn and open my perspectives. I've had a few experiences already, and all were eye-opening and instructive on so many levels. I like to take my time when I travel, get to know people and help them where I can.
I am interested in pretty much everything and an expert in pretty much nothing ;) I like many creative/crafty things (painting, music, macramé, sewing, all kinds of DIY...), I have basic knowledge of manual work (sawing, sanding, screwing, painting/oiling...), and in the garden (vegetable garden maintenance, pruning, basic beekeeping...). I am of course willing to help with housework, maintenance, and participation in daily life. I am used to cooking vegan/vegetarian for about fifteen people, so I think I can be useful in the kitchen too, if wanted. I speak English, French, German, Spanish and Dutch, and I am learning some Portuguese and Persian. I like to make an effort to understand other languages and learn them.

It feels a bit weird to make a 'list of skills', but here we go: I studied civil engineering-architect but never practiced. Instead, I work in an NGO that provides social and legal advise for refugees. I speak a few languages and I love learning them. I have some building and gardening experience (don't hesitate to ask if you are looking for specific skills). I am active (I like sports like hiking, running, swimming, body-streching) and creative (I draw, paint, sew, make macrame, play the piano, a bit of guitar...). I enjoy cooking vegeterian/vegan, as well as learning new things from good cooks. I can help with some maintenance in the house/garden. I can ride a horse and I have a driver license, in case that can be of any use. I worked in different restaurants and like to take care of guests. Also, I've been a leader in a youth movement for five years, taking care of children, organising weekends and camps (both in my home country and abroad).
