Description

Hello! My name is Katie and I am a recent college graduate who wants to travel, explore, and learn new skills before committing to a career. I have been house sitting and volunteering around Europe for several months and now plan to head to Australia for a year on a working holiday visa.

I studied ecology and sustainability and am passionate about healthy and sustainable living. I am excited by projects with a focus on sustainable agriculture and animal care. I've also worked in customer service / food service, enjoyed my experience and would be happy to continue in that line of work. I work hard and am willing to take on any odd jobs, especially anything that involves being outside, animals, or art.

I am a good communicator, both written and verbally. I have used my communication skills coordinating a food distribution program at a local non-profit battling food insecurity.
I have experience with animal care and plant cultivation. I have worked in a greenhouse for three years at the University of Minnesota, primarily handling barley. I frequently dog-sit and have volunteered at humane societies since I was 18.
I have customer service skills gained from being a server at an assisted living home's restaurant-style dining room for five years. I also have worked as an interpretive guide at a natural history museum, explaining and expanding on the exhibits.

One of my passions is art and I frequently paint. I also love writing and would be happy to assist with any art or writing based projects.
While most of my experience with animals is working with dogs, I have also worked with horses and am an intermediate rider who was taking lessons in dressage several years ago.
