Description
Hi everyone! My legal name is Irenne but I prefer to go by Esther. I’m originally from New York, although I hold Irish citizenship too, and I am excited for my second big trip abroad, this time to South America. When I travel, I like to experience the culture of the local people and to explore and hike the unique environments of each region. I prefer simple, close to the land living, working with my hands and being outside and in nature as much as possible.
Just to give a little timeline of what I’ve been up to - after spending some time at community college, I decided to volunteer at a kibbutz dairy farm in the Jordan valley for 7 months. A little while later I moved to Colorado, living off grid in a trailer so I could work on an organic vegetable farm. Next up was to hike the Appalachian Trail, which took me 5 months and then after that I went up to Maine and lived in a little cabin working at another organic vegetable farm for the season. After, I travelled around Europe for nearly a year, doing various farm workaways while also backpacking the Alps. Now I am finishing up a season at a community farm and bakery in Vermont.
In my free time I like to read all types of books, especially ones regarding science, history and philosophy. I also love to cook and play the piano, specifically classical and the blues. -

I have a bit of a background in dairy farming and quite a bit of experience with organic vegetable farming. I do best with hands-on outdoor farm work although I would be interested in learning some general construction skills.
