Description
We are a family of 4 and live 15 miles north of Amsterdam. We are generous hosts happy to share with you our 3-acre little paradise, the Dutch culture and hospitality! There is always something to do. Helping hands and are therefore very welcome.
We live in a spacious house in our private park with lake and swimming pool.
We had the pleasure of hosting many workawayers before. Some returned various times. Some became good friends. Having workawayers is for us a great experience in many ways!
We love having hardworking, fun-loving couples who, love nature, sport/cycling, healthy food, animals, good conversations are organized, like to help and are proactive.

As we are close to Amsterdam, so you can benefit from this international appealing city as well!

Marga, Sikko, Tom, Ryan and the Queen of the Netherlands - Emma. What a wonderful time we had with you in Avenhoorn, from the quiet escapades to spill my heart to a chicken or wander around the house constantly questioning whether I should swipe the last piece of cake or sweet bread.

Marga, the mother, is a brilliant cook, always going out of… read more her way to ensure she is the perfect host and diligent in her ability to make you feel like you are being taken care of. Unfortunately, I arrived quite sick and I worried she would not respond so kindly to it, but she handled it in stride and gave me the necessary time to adjust. She is highly knowledgeable on topics such as nutrition and environment, although I'm sure we would have discovered more about her erudite aspect given more time with her.

The children, Tom and Emma, were really quite fun. Emma is a vibrant personality and we cant wait to see where she goes, although she could look both ways before driving across a street ;) God speed to the cyclists! lol. Tom on the other hand could make it as a card shark in Uno or as a professional driver. We hope you guys stay in touch.

The family in general is a proper one, amounting in a cultural exchange. They like to joke and of course appreciate your differences. I would say that for the most part they were busy during our stay here (even Tom and Emma with exams), but our time was still well spent and even old Ryan came to love us after a week alone watching the house.

During our time, Julia and I were able to attend Kings Day, which was a brilliant excuse to party with thousands of people on the streets of Amsterdam. April is a great time to come! We also saw the Tulips in bloom and spent most of our days off at the beach (but we warn you its a 2 hour bike). The work really quite varies, but mainly it is simple garden work. For us it was almost exclusively wood sanding and painting, but some lucky workers in the future will be able to handle larger tasks in the tennis court (currently unusable) or the back (which someone for the love of Ryan please convince Tom to make into a techno party ground). As a long time workawayer, I would say that the work is very straightforward and manageable with plenty of time to enjoy the property and the village.

PS tell my girls I say "COO CLUCK A LUCK coo cloop. " They will know what it means ;)

We stayed with this family for a week but we wish it could have been more . We helped with the installation of their new pool, so we can say that we helped to build something long- lasting. They showed us the Dutch way of life and took us sightseeing too. :)
