Dear volunteer, please be so kind to read our description carefully.
Our organic/agro tourism project is close to the coast situated just in the back of a beautiful fisherman´s village called Santa Luzia, five kilometers away from Tavira. We grow vegetables and have a small orchard and are interested in agriculture and self-sufficiency. We sell our products on the market of Tavira, as part of a cooperative. The farm forms part of a small tourism rental company.
The farm is owned and managed by Tamar, you will work alongside with 3 to 5 other workawayers, together with Iuliu, who has extensive experience in organic agriculture and has been working on the lands here for 7 years.
We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic people, who are not afraid of physical work and are able to live and work in groups. Having some previous experience is a plus. Our preference goes to people over the age of 22 and who enjoy biking as it will be our main means of transport to the beach and to the local shops. Volunteers are asked to help from Monday to Friday, five hours a day, with a half an hour break, usually starting at 8 am (and when it is too hot starting at 7 am) and to stay for a minimum of one month. Besides a variety of seasonal tasks, such as carob and olive harvests etc. a principal activity is weeding and preparing vegetables for the market.
We will supply you with fruits and vegetables from the farm and basic groceries for cooking a vegetarian diet. In addition, we give each helper 20 euros per week for shopping that is more personal and specific to each one. Meat, fish, snacks and alcohol are on your own expense. We bring you the basic groceries but the personal shopping each volunteer will buy and bring to the farm. We have bicycles with baskets and the nearest shops are 5 minutes away on a bike. We ask you to self-cater, however we are open to occasional shared meals.
You will have the possibility to experience living in an old Algarve-style farmhouse and some converted containers with all basic facilities available. This means that you might not have as much privacy, as the living spaces and kitchen and bathroom are shared. You are also welcome to bring your tent or caravan. There is a pool table, a washing machine and a beautiful beach just at your doorstep. Please be aware that we have limited wifi in the farm, the closest place with internet is located in the village.
Please do realize you will be in a rural environment; there are many animals and insects around and that temperatures can be very high during summer. For the winter times, please bring boots and warm clothing for the evenings.
Thank you for your attention and see you soon!

We show you farming tricks, teach you some skills, just generally show you a bit how life goes on a farm. There are many different nationalities at any given time here, which makes the dynamics interesting. We want you to enjoy your time here, but do keep in mind that it is not a free holiday, we expect you to do the tasks in a reasonable amount of time. After help time ends at 13.00, you are free to do whatever you want and explore the area.

You will have the possibility to experience living in an old Algarve-style farmhouse. This means that you might not have as much privacy, as some of the rooms are interconnected. The living spaces (living room, kitchen, bathroom) are shared, also in the separate living area with container houses. You are also welcome to bring your tent or caravan. In the winter it can get cold, so take some warm clothing and boots.
What else ...
We are situated in the Ria Formosa natural reserve, surrounded by many beautiful beaches, various castles, mountains & one of the greatest bird watching sites in the world. There are lots of beautiful places to see around the area. Tavira is a beautiful town with lots of character and has a few bars which are more lively in the summer, yet winter time is very beautiful and relatively warm compared to the rest of Europe. Trains come and go from Tavira as well. So it is fairly easy to get around in your free time. We have bikes for the volunteers.

They will be missed by everyone in the team... Thank you for your help!
Energetic, thoughtful, intelligent, always helpful, creative and with a great sense of humour.
It was a pleasure to host Nathan, the farm and team benefited greatly from his sense of initiative and help. Nathan´s sun-dried tomato project produced the best quality sun-dried tomatoes
I came to here during the month of July 2021, and had a wonderful stay on the farm.
In addition to the ideal geographical location (5 minutes from the beach and close to the center of Santa Luzia) I was very well received. I wanted to thank Tamar and Berta for their kindness, they have always listened to the slightest
I spent two weeks at the farm and learned a lot about growing, harvesting and preparing the products for the market.
During that time, 3 baby goats were born and in the third I could be the birthing assistant.
Christoph is a genius and knows a lot about the natural production
I spent two weeks in this nice farm in the middle of nothing and I admit it was very peaceful. The beach is amazing if it’s sunny and you can bike to Tavira or Santa Luzia or some other close places but there is not big villages or things to visit around. It is nature surrounding you. This is mainly a place where to sit on the couch in
Oh and btw, he
Marit and Bart are really nice people who always made us feel at home.
The working hours were clearly defined, and we worked 8am to 1pm Monday to Friday.
The work is varied enough to keep things interesting everyday and there's lots of jobs
Allthough they had no farmerskills when they arrived they were willing to learn and took their jobs serieusly. I can fully recommand them to anybody. They are responable, willing to work and learn.
As people we could get along with eachother very well too. They are easy going, social, but also know when
