  • Description

    Hello! Ana here!
I am a Brazilian woman with an Irish heart. I am living in Ireland for the past 7 years and I have embraced the Celtic culture in a very deep way, Ireland became my home, my place to come back to! And I also created a very important resilience towards the changeable weather, very important skill to have in this part of the world.
I am quite easy going and a driven hard worker.

I have been always very curious about discovering new places and living with people as they do - to truly learn from that exchange is something so precious, and that is the reason why I kept coming back to Workaway. I studied Anthropology back in Brazil, which definitely helped that hunger of learning more about different cultures, and being amongst them and living like them. It fascinates me deeply and I love embracing elements from those experiences into my life. That is one of the many aspects of the richness in life.

I did workaway for almost 3 years between Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Finland..., cycling, hitchhiking, walking and playing music..
I already had quite a few experiences myself minding a smallholding in Ireland for a couple of years - having my own chickens, a few cows, raised beds, my own glasshouse, where I grew tomatoes, peppers, chillies, grapes. Outside I grew broad beans, potatoes, garlic, onions, pumpkins, salad, and much more! Made jam, made wine, mead, preserves... having a tight knit connections to neighbours was key to it all. And Nature was abundant all around.
But I would still like to travel and learn more, there's always so many things to learn in life!..
I am always thorn between settling down and living all the seasons in just one place, or learning so much from life from all the experience that travelling gives you.

About my skills, I did a generous amount of digging, fencing, building, bit of butchering, clearing paths, painting, taking care of animals, weeding, planting, harvesting, volunteering with the National Trust of Scotland, managing forests... well, quite a lot... and, of course, am very open and keen to learn more.
I am always very interested into connecting at the local community/village/town where I am, getting to know the locals, music and pubs, cycling/wandering around and finding some hidden gems.

I got to know very good friends and places through volunteering, it is a great way to be introduced and get involved in local communities. It seems that we are always keen to believe into people's kindness and goodness, and the more we do that, the more is going to come our way as well. What goes around comes around, as they say.

About work experiences, I have some here listed at Workaway but I did a lot of volunteer work with other websites or friends in common, so if you want more REFERENCES, I can share them with you.

I am quite interested about crafting as well, such as knitting, carving wood, crocheting.. anything I can get my hands on.
Currently, I am working as a tour guide in the West of Ireland, very interested in History, and I am also an Aromatherapy and Massage student.
I would also be so open to giving treatments to whoever is open to receive them - this is the moment of getting more experience and feedback on it!

I am very physically and mentally very strong and not afraid of working hard as long as I have a good meal and a warm bed as a reward to keep me strong. ;)
There is no such a thing as bad weather, only bad clothes and bad attitude ;)
I am also very easy going, so pretty happy with just a cozy corner and a book to read, or to explore hidden gems around.

I am a non-smoker and am happy to eat all kinds of food.
I also have a Full Irish Car License - you never know, could be handy.
