My next destination:
Alaska, United States - from Aug 2023 until Dec 2024 View allDescription
Hello! I’m originally from Brooklyn, New York! I decided that it was time for me to go through a big change in environment and a new way of living style, so I moved to Alaska back in December 2016. The reason for my move to Alaska is that I wanted to be independent, to escape the big crowds of people in NYC and enjoy more outdoor hiking and exploring adventures. These past 6 years I’ve been here, it has been nothing but pure living joy, full of happiness surrounded by the beautiful mountains, wildlife and nature itself. I can’t ask for more! It was the best decision making my move to come to Alaska!
I currently live in Anchorage and I have my own place! I’m not home often, since I’ve been participating in a WWOOFing (Worldwide Opportunities Organic Farming) program since mid April. I decided to partake in volunteering on my time off since I rather stay productive and busy with my life. So I currently work on the slope for 3 straight weeks and the 3 straight weeks I’ve been WWOOFing. So far, some places I’ve been to are Seldovia, AK visiting a nursery plant, in which I helping with germinating seedlings, potting and watering plants. In Kalifornsky, AK visiting an animal farm and my tasks were to help with various tasks, helping with putting up animal fences, gathering wood pieces and chopping them for their outdoor garden, using the saw mill to cut wood, feeding the animals, watering their garden, and many other light tasks. In Montana Creek, AK visiting a peony farm, in which I harvested peonies and weeding for the most part. Overall, I really give enjoy these wonderful hosts and experiences I’ve had so far. The next 2 WWOOFing adventures would take place in Homer, AK and my last one would take place in Palmer, AK of this year.
Back in NYC, I’ve work in the hospitality field and human services field serving others. I’ve always had the passion to assist others without anything in return. When I’m not working, I volunteered with an organization called New York Cares, helping with setting up and cleaning in soup kitchens settings, organizing food drives, composting, and many more.
My main purpose for doing workaway and wwoofing is to meet new people, learn something new, explore new places and simply give a helping hand where help is needed. Now til December 2024, I want to travel to different areas around Alaska to do work exchange on my time-off. In 2025, I’m either going to continue work exchange in Alaska, The Lower 48, or other countries, such as New Zealand or could be a mixture of all 3!

The weather was still chilly, but Jason finished off a lot of projects for us, and great timing, just as winter was settling in.
