Marie-Noélle was with us for 3 weeks. A pleasure to have her. Together we cleared unwanted growth from around the base of olive trees, and prepared bottles for olive fruit fly traps. We made hot composts; cleared the fruit orchard of prunings and branches ready for grass cutting. We retrieved logs from nearby fallen trees from the woods and repaired holes in the unmade access road. Throughout Marie-Noelle was very constructive in all the tasks and was a very willing and capable helper. She helped me with a presentation for a talk I was giving locally. I also received some good French cooking lessons from her. She enjoyed her days off and made friends easily with some of our friends in the area. We were very pleased also, that she was able to accomplish her own personal writing tasks while with us. We enjoyed her time with us and would welcome her back if she wanted to return in the future.

How lucky were we that we got Rui (and his girlfriend Gabi) for our first workaway experience. We couldn't have asked for a kinder, funnier and harder working couple than those two. We got on really well as soon as they arrived. They are very easy going and a pleasure to be around. Despite the hot weather, we got so much work done and we are so greatful to them. They have so many interesting stories to tell. Anybody would be very lucky to receive them. We made friends for life and would love to have them back anytime 😊

I had such a GREAT time at Grit! She's a very, very lovely and attentive person, and she offers you a lot of varied things to do and discover; I felt completely integrated in the family during those 3 weeks (from 12/05 to 01/06/2025). Malvin, despite sometimes his character (let's say that's just teenage years...), is also very kind person you love to spend time with. I don't forget Daisy, Leo and Robin, who, I think, figure among the most lovely pets I've also met in my life! Thank you all for these moments spent together, and I hope I will be able to meet you again as well!

Jules and Etienne are a couple of energetic young men, handy and eager to learn and do good work. They built a very beautiful and much needed fence around the garden. Quick and intuitive learners, very self driven. They both posess a healthy sense of humour and exceptionel frikadelle skills and are generally good company. Best of luck to them in the future Carina and Jan 🙂

Xavier and Clara were so lovely, we are so happy that you left part of your art on our walls, it is an honor!! First, they were making just one mural but they ended up making another one in the shared kitchen. We're so blessed to have the opportunity to meet incredible humans like you. They represented parts of their journey on the murals and we find it amazing how a mural can embrace many stories and memories that will last forever. From our family we send you all our best regards and hope that you can enjoy the rest of your trip. Lots of love for you =)

My experience at the farm was overwhelmingly positive. I met amazing, interesting people with varying backgrounds and from different cultures. I also really enjoyed the work at the farm, as well as working with Casey, the person in charge of the work on the farm, even though his communication style was very different from mine haha. I didn't look too deeply into the Hare Krishna movement, so I was taken by quite a surprise by this form of practice of yoga. I'd say I'm fairly flexible and open by my nature, so I didn't have difficulties adapting to the environment, but during my stay a younger person left earlier than supposed to because they weren't prepared to live according to the ways and customs of the temple. So I would suggest looking into the movement beforehand, even though the views or practice at the temple wasn't pushed on anyone at all! I'm very grateful for the hands-on experience I gained working at the farm, as well as for the memories and friends I made.

For the first two weeks of June, I worked at the school in Breclav. It’s a large school with students from not only Breclav but the surrounding towns and villages. The size of the school meant that I was only able to teach many of the classes once. If you would like to stay here, I recommend arranging a longer stay than two weeks, in order to get to know every class. I would also recommend arranging your stay for another month than June - the Czech summer holidays begin about late June, and the weather is warm, so some of the students were not exactly energetic! However, the younger students especially were a delight to teach, with their enthusiasm and happiness. All classes were generally well-behaved. The accommodation was pleasant. It was near Breclav and I was driven to work every morning by teachers who lived locally. Food was provided in the school canteen and was always excellent. The school itself was a wonderful place to work with a very creative atmosphere (the student-painted murals on the walls). The English teachers were all thoughtful and nice people and as with the students, I wished I had stayed longer and got to know them better. (I was told near the start of the visit that some of those teachers who did not teach English could still speak the language and would like to meet up, but in the end we never got the chance to talk.) You can learn a great deal from them about how to plan lessons, manage a class, and engage the interest of students with games and activities. Many thanks in particular to the teachers who took me out to see local attractions such as the Lednice-Valtice Area and Breclav Castle with their families at the weekends, who asked me over to their houses for meals, and who invited me to a local café after the last school day. They did much to make my stay an enjoyable one, since it can be isolating in a foreign country when you don’t speak the language.

Oh my goodness, wow! My first international volunteering experience via WorkAway. Jin, the host, is the coolest host ever. Given her own travelling history, she knows EXACTLY what travellers who want to volunteer would need. Jin and her team are extremely experienced, and they walk you through the teaching very well. And the kids are the most adorable little souls with biggggg, beautiful personalities. I also loved that they encourage creative ways to conduct the classes so that the kids engage in the lessons. Jin's home is a warm, cozy, yet private space where she gives everything you'd need. P.S. Jin also provided with a motorcycle which made exploring the city such a breeze! I would happily volunteer here again if I travel back to Thailand.

KJ and Debs hosted us for 2 weeks and we enjoyed every Single moment of it. They always made sure we were comfortable in every Situation. From the first Day we fehlt welcomed and our work was always appreciated. We consider KJ and Debs as a really considerate, warmhearted and funny couple. We worked outdoors and had the opportunity to adjust our working hours. Adequate Tools were always provided and while working in the garden they always listened to our recommendations and suggestions, plant- and designwise. It was a pleasure to be in an equal exchange regarding all the projects. We could use the car after work and for trips on weekends. They provided very good tips for our days off (and even for our upcoming journeys) as well as delicious food and everything else we needed. After some days, I (Deborah) could overcome my fear of dogs, which I loved to cuddle all the time. We can really recommend doing a workaway at KJ and Debs' and would love to come back one day! Thank you so much for taking such good care of us!

My stay with Veroniek, Ewaut and of course the sweetest dog I’ve ever met, Schwamu was fantastic. Firstly they (and Dries too, although he wasn’t there so much when I was) are all quality people with great vibes and great conversation. But for me, the priority was the work and welding, and Ewaut mentored me on this in a way that allowed me to learn very quickly and get a lot of experience for such a short time. Fantastic and passionate teacher. The area is nice with many adventures by bike and the cities close by, although honestly I was so focused on the welding I only went to Ghent once. It was such a great experience I’m heading back for another month before I fly back to Asia. See you all soon!

After spending close to two weeks at David and Janice’s place, we can say that we loved our experience at Fanny Bay. The two hosts were awesome, warm and welcoming people with whom we spent quite a lot of time. They have a pretty big property with lamas, alpacas and a cats and dogs kennel business. On our time off, we loved to walk on the nearby trails and to creeks to swim. Sometimes, David and Janice would offer us rides to nearby towns like Courtenay or Cumberland or other trails so we could get an even better experience of the area. We worked five days a week, from 9am to 3pm with an hour for lunch. The work mostly consisted of feeding the alpacas and lamas, helping supervise the dogs while they played in the fenced park, helping outside on the property with weeding, planting new grass, moving mulch, helping with logging and such. The work was demanding but not too hard, be careful of sunburns ! We helped out Janice in the kitchen, the food was great and they easily adapted to my vegetarian diet. In sum, we loved our stay there, loved Janice and David and would recommend this experience to anyone !

We loved our stay at Henry’s place. We stayed at the lake house on our own for close to two weeks. We met Henry once when he came to pick us up from the airport and drop us off at the ferry terminal from which we reached Vancouver Island. Henry’s house was really nice, with a mezzanine, where we slept, and a dock on the water where we spent a lot of time reading and having lunch. . We used Henry’s canoe a few times, he also has two bikes to easily explore around the lake without needing a car. The work we did mostly consisted of deep-cleaning the house and weeding the garden. On average, we spent two hours working everyday. If we had a problem, Henry was really responsive and we could also contact his brother who sometimes works near the lake house. We loved the area, the lake and the house. Henry was very welcoming, we would definitely recommend this experience !!

I absolutely loved my time here and highly recommend it! The atmosphere with the other volunteers and Shegu was fantastic. I was supposed to stay two weeks and I extended it to three weeks The morning tree-planting sessions with Juan were amazing. He's so passionate, and you really feel like you're making a difference in beautifying the city. The kids are adorable, and organizing the English lessons was a lot of fun. As for the surf lessons, most of the kids already knew how to surf, so it was mostly about supervision. Regarding the organization, don't expect everything to be perfectly structured, but it didn't bother me at all. On weekends you can go surfing in Huanchaco, it's a great spot and that's beautiful.

We want to extend our grattitude to both of you for your hard work, dedication and positive attitude throughout your time volunteering with us. They approached every task with enthusiasm and professionalism, not only at the bar but attending every guest request. Their efforts together truly helped us to create a more supportive environment. We genuinely recommend Karolina and Luigi, they are amazing volunteers. Thank you again for your commitment and service. It's been a pleasure working with you, and we hope to colaborate again in the future!

Dear Baptiste, Thank you so much for your beautiful feedback. It truly touched our hearts. We're deeply grateful that your time at the finca was so meaningful and that it helped deepen your connection to the Divine. It’s always a joy to hear that the energy of the place and the spirit of those here continue to inspire inner growth and mindful living. Your presence was a gift to the community, and your devotion, kindness, and sincerity left a lasting impression. We where really moved to see the beautiful changes that occur in yourself because of your dedication and determination. To see you maturing into more ease, freedom , spontaneity and authenticity and let go of some social conditionning was a great delight. Your hard fisical work made a big difference on the place. You had been carrying stones, cooking, cleaning, scything, painting, digging trenches for water tubes, cutting firewood with chainsaw, harvesting oranges , distributing with us clothes food and drinks to the people in situation of homelessness, transporting food for neighbours in situation of poverty where bo car can go...and generally always be ready to give a hand with a great simplicity and easygoingness. May your path continue to unfold in grace, and may you remain close to the Source in all that you do. You’re always welcome here. With love and peace, Ana and Bruno

We stayed in the cabins in San José de Maipo, about and hour bus journey from Santiago. It was a beautiful and peaceful getaway looking after the dogs (Nala & Pepino); cleaning the rental cabin; general garden cleaning; and helping mark school papers. In our spare time there are loads of walks in the area and the local towns in the valley have plenty of activities and food spots to explore. Leo (our host) was amazing and was flexible with times we could work. He helped us practice our Spanish when possible and made us feel at home in the cabin. He gave us clear instructions as to how to get to the area, and helped us out picking us up and dropping us off. Food to prepare breakfast and lunch was provided. He was truly so kind, thank you.

I stayed with Taís, Carson and their son for a week. I really enjoyed their company, they are easy going and we had fun. I was happy to work in the garden, weed, clear paths, harvest radishes and can them, cook some meals and share them with the family, Taís's food was always healthy and very tasty! We went on a day trip on the weekend where a saw a little bit more of Washington State. Their place is in the middle of the lush and green forest which I loved and eating some salmon berries was always a delight! The river was one of my favorite places there. I had a great time with the two border collies and the cats, especially with the little kitten. Thank you for everything!
