Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We live in a beautiful area in the North of Sweden.
We come from Switzerland and Germany but have been living in Sweden for a few years, so we are very familiar with the Swedish culture. It means you can learn about 3 cultures during your stay with us ;-) We have travelled a lot ourselves and love to share stories and experience and of course our passion for the Nordic lifestyle with you!
If you are interested in dogsledding or dogs in general you can learn how we care for our pack of sleddogs, train and work with them. Depending on the time period, you might join training runs with the dog cart or sled or other fun outdoor activities.
Our home is surrounded by unspoiled nature with rivers, lakes, hills and forest. Good possibilities for hiking, fishing, swimming, biking, bird watching and generally enjoying nature. You can use a bike during your stay. There is a bus connection to Boden and you can also use a car to drive to the city or to nearby sights after agreement. In only 3 km you reach the cozy village Gunnarsbyn with a shop, church and gas station. During summer there are summer cafés, concerts and other fun events. During autumn and winter there is a small cinema. The next sand beach by the river is a 7 km away, the Baltic Sea 40 km. During winter all kinds of winter activities are possible just around the corner. We welcome you as a part of our family and are happy to include you in activities during your and our free time. -
Help
In summer we are looking for helping hands with the daily tasks on the yard - feeding the dogs, cleaning and playtime, cutting gras, chopping firewood, picking berries, water vegetables and flowers and so on. We might have some smaller building projects going on like building dog houses or so as well as general maintenance and creative fun projects.
During autumn (September - November) our main focus is on the training of our sled dogs which includes many hours on the training wagon. Feeding the doggies as well as spending time cuddling and playing with them is part of the daily routines as well as keeping the dog yard clean. General maintenance on the yard as well as creative fun projects could also be part of the tasks.
During winter (December - April) shoveling snow is a regular part of the help and can be physically challenging on days with a lot of fresh snow. Feeding the doggies as well as spending time cuddling and playing with them is part of the daily routines as well as keeping the dog yard clean. You will get a chance to drive a dogsled and learn about that sport.
Important to us is that you like to work in a team but also can work on easier tasks independently and you see where help is needed and don´t just walk away from it. We like to work and have a positive attitude towards all kinds of tasks and projects and we expect the same from you. What you do exactly depends not only on what there is to do but also on what you are good at and what you would like to learn. -

They are very friendly and nice people and we fell in love with their incredible husky dogs, all very happy, cuddly and playful, but at the same time with totally different personalities!
