I very much enjoyed my time with Mike and a great work away experience overall, Mike's vision for his land and home was to say the very least impressive, I admire his work ethic in bringing the dream alive , it really opened my eyes to see how much the area has changed through his efforts and how much progress you can make with permaculture when you put your mind to and the development of land. thankyou very much again Mike lovely experience with yoursef, family, other WorkAway guests and ofcorse Billy, Good luck with everything in the future. Awww thanks legends! It was such a joy having both Elliot and Leah here — you fit right in with our little crew. Loved seeing your creativity and skills in the building world, and getting to share the garden space together. You were both an absolute pleasure to have around — your energy and willingness to dive into everything made such a difference. We loved the laughs, the great chats, and seeing how much you appreciated the land and lifestyle here. River and Tao are still talking about you! You’re both welcome back anytime — wishing you all the best on your travels and creative adventures ahead! 🌿

I had the most wonderful stay with Sophie, Ant and Disco! They were so welcoming and so helpful with giving me recommendations for places to visit around Vancouver and walks to go on with Disco. Their home is beautiful and perfect for exploring the north shore and an easy direct bus into downtown. I was made to feel so welcome and was so grateful to be invited to share things like my first thanksgiving with everyone. Disco is just the sweetest, most affectionate dog and he was the perfect adventure buddy. I loved exploring the nearby trails with him - there are so many amazing spots right on the doorstep. This was my first Workaway and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! I am so grateful to Sophie and Ant for their kindness.

I stayed for 2 months at this beautiful Ranch. The experience I had was amazing. Ken and Danica were wonderful hosts. They made me feel like this was my home. The ranch itself was amazing, seeing the sunrise over the mountain range, the Bison walk up past the house, the northern lights over the trees and the dogs running around. It was a joy to encounter all these things and more. You will never be short on food there and we always tried to eat together. Bernie and Isobel also lived in the other house on the Ranch and they were always up for a chat and to play Mexican train. I will miss Tilly, all the dogs and people that I met while I was staying there. I luckily got to watch the season change from summer to winter and I must say it was a blessing. I highly recommend this Ranch to anyone up for rural living. Moving trees, burn offs, conversations around the fire and watching the baby Bison grow up are all things I won't forget. (Also getting muddy from digging around the stream). Thank you for this experience and I'm sad it's over, but glad I was able to stay at this wonderful home.

We spent two wonderful weeks in our campervan at Suzanne and Jeroen’s beautiful old property, nestled amidst ancient, lush forests. During our stay, we helped with exterior repairs and painting in preparation for their wedding next summer. In return, we were treated to delicious home-cooked meals and lively entertainment from the girls. We can absolutely recommend them to other WorkAwayers!

We got to stay for 2 and a half weeks and it has been a great experience for both of us. Phoebe and Chris are very nice people who helped us with our questions and lent us their car on occasion. We also got to know their three lovely children, Phoebe‘s father and their very cute dog, which made the experience even better. Our main focus was on picking weeds and cleaning up the garden. On the weekends we went to Melbourne, which is 1,5 hours away, if you go by train. If you are looking for a rather quiet place in beautiful nature with lots of animals, we would totally recommend going here! We had a great time, thank you!

Rich is a great host! From the moment he met us and took us by boat to his amazing property, to the shared meals and many stories he had to tell. It was awesome watching the turtle release and walking his dogs. Accommodation was simple and comfortable. We wish Rich health and happiness!

I spent two and a half weeks with Julie and Glynn and their wonderful animals. Although we had different perspectives in some conversations, I really enjoyed the work on the farm. Together with the other two Workawayers, Daniel and Simon, we prepared the fields, built walls, put up fences and got the olive trees ready for harvest. Outside of work, we were very well taken care of: we joined local markets on the weekends, went to the beach together, and thanks to Julie there was always delicious food, with great vegetarian options for me. I’ll fondly remember the time spent preparing meals with Julie as well as the cold coffee breaks and, of course, all the lovely, cuddly dogs. Thank you for your generous hospitality and all the experiences!

Alex and Evelin were truly amazing. They taught English both at our house and at students’ homes together with the local teachers ( my team). They were friendly, responsible, and very easy to get along with. During their stay, we also explored local life together like ,attending a wedding, visiting the sunrise hill, the tempe factory, and even the Tinkerbell Garden. They were so open to learning about Indonesian culture, from trying local food like martabak and dawet ireng, mie ayam, tempe etc to learning some Bahasa and Javanese words. What impressed me the most was how kind and polite they were to everyone around. They often greeted our neighbors with a smile and even joined in local activities . they learned how to "nganjang ", helped arrange tobacco leaves on the "rigen", and were treated to a bowl of warm soto. They trained my children to speak english.I loved it See you when I see you Thankyou

This was my first Work Away in Europe. I was so excited and maybe a little nervous at the same time. Would we be a good fit? Would the boys like me? Would their teenage daughter want to talk to me? Well, from the very moment I was greeted at the airport by Elena & her daughter Rebecca, I felt so welcomed! Then the greeting from the boys when we got home with hugs and smiles . I was immediately made part of the family and couldn’t ask for a better family. Luca even cooked spaghetti al ragù , my request, for my first meal that was delicious! Andrea loves to play soccer which we did after I prepared his lunch during lunch break and any other spare moments, play a card game which I taught him or play with Legos building ANYTHING. He is so creative and smart! I love his smile! Ricardo, Ricci is his nickname, is an energetic fun boy. He LOVES playing ANYTHING really! Playing race cars , Legos, hide-n-seek on his bike outside or soccer. He picked up English quite fast once we really connected. I just love his laugh!! Rebecca is a very sweet girl very busy with school studies but enjoys conversation and loves to bake goodies. Elena & Luca are such a nice couple. They were always making sure I had enough food and anything else I might need. Elena was so friendly and took me shopping to the nearby town of Navarro, helped me get eye glasses after I lost mine and always made me feel a part of the family. I was even invited to go with the family to a celebration and tag along on family outing days which I really enjoyed! The town is very small so if you’re a city person you will have to be ok with taking a bus/ train to go to larger areas. I ventured off to Milan for 2 days and that was enough city for me. It was fun though. The home is lovely and modern. My bedroom was spacious with storage, and a window that opened to the garden area. I didn’t mind occasionally sharing the bathroom to let the boys use the bathtub. The job tasks were never difficult. General house cleaning help, laundry, walking Andrea to school or picking him up, preparing a lunch. I enjoyed doing that for Elena also so she could enjoy her break time more. I helped in the small garden area which I loved as well. Cleaning up the dishes and keeping the kitchen tidy is a big help as Elena and Luca both have long days working and like to enjoy family time. Oh and their young cats that love snuggles are so cute! This truly was an amazing experience & I would very much recommend this Work Away to anyone wanting to make a real connection and life long friends with this family. I definitely hope to return for a visit sometime😊

Great workaway! Special Thanks to Patrick for all the opportunities he gave me: I learned new things about gardening, we went collecting clams and oysters, also showing me around and giving interesting and good information about country and people. He also took me to a concert organized by the Association which I enjoyed a lot. You‘re a stunning cook - I loved the food (and the fire in the chimney). Yes, it was great to stay at Patricks place, the property is marvellous and we did some good work in the garden together in the mornings (I‘m always happy working together with the host). Merci Beaucoup!

I had a genuinely lovely time with Carlota and Marc, their Terra Alta property is beautiful and the cottage I was given to stay in, Mas de la Pedra, was really comfortable - I feel really lucky to have gotten it to myself. They showed interest in learning about me, asked questions and listened to my thoughts. Discussions over breakfast and lunch often left me with lots to think about, and I really enjoyed and valued hearing their perspectives. Their passion for Catalonia is clear, and they exposed me to an important cultural, social and political history and present that I now care about a lot. Breakfast and lunch were both always healthy and tasty, involving lots of their own olive oil and eggs with fresh veg. They made a real effort to make sure I was fed well which was great. Regarding the work, I appreciated the clarity of expectations and explaining why a task needed to be done. They have high standards but hold themselves to the same, and appreciate effort in doing tasks well. It was often physical, I spent a lot of time with the brush cutter clearing pruned branches alongside doing the pruning and moving rocks to repair retaining walls. I felt that time to myself and being included in family time was well balanced, I discovered that life off grid means every task takes a bit longer and so having time after lunch to sort myself out was definitely needed. Thanks so much - hope the olive harvest goes smoothly :)

Despite having stayed only 2 weeks I can say I learned quite a lot, the people from the farm went out of their way to answer all my questions. The team was pleasant and the work was quite varied (not much weeding :) The food was delicious. When I am around I will surely come back to the farm.

Karolina was not only "cantik" but also she was incredibly kind, friendly, and patient. Despite our village not being a typical tourist destination, she never hesitated to take photos with the villagers, which brought so much joy to everyone. She has been very helpful in teaching the children, always showing great care and patience. His warm smile and positive attitude have made a lasting impact on our community. We went to the swimming pool together,, had a exercise together in my village .it was nice experience with her. We loved to share our experience in teaching also talked alot about education. I wholeheartedly recommend her to assist at your place. I hope we can meet again someday. Thankyou Karolina

This was one of our favorite workaway experiences!! The hosts and accommodations are top notch. Amy and Ken are genuinely kind and caring people! They really go above and beyond to make sure that your experience is positive. The hotel is a jungle oasis and the workload is very clear and manageable. It is nice to have the opportunity to earn commission from tour sales. The property is safe and all of the other volunteers we met on the team were really cool people. The little town of Dominical is quiet, but very charming. There is lots of wild life. We really fell in love with Dexter and Vince (cats) we miss them dearly. It was also great fun to take Marley and Disco to the beach, they are sweet dogs that will also win your heart. Overall I would give the experience more than 5 stars of I could. After we expressed to Amy that we were interested in hotel management she took extra time to teach us so much extra things that will prove to be valuable in the future. Thank you so much Amy and Ken for an amazing experience and we look forward to our paths crossing again in the future!!

I stayed with Béatrice and Gérard for three weeks over the summer, and it was truly one of the best experiences of my life. This was my first time doing a Workaway, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better introduction. The People: Béatrice and Gérard are some of the most wonderful hosts you could ever meet. From the moment I arrived, I felt less like I was working and more like I was on vacation! They include you in everything they do , from day trips to visiting friends , and I truly felt like part of the family. Both Béa and Gérard work incredibly hard in their garden and with their horses. They show so much love and care toward their animals (and their dog, Oops!) that if I were ever reincarnated as a horse, I’d want to live with them. Béatrice is extremely kind and thoughtful and we had many great conversations about culture, family, and life. Gérard is always looking out for you — whether you’re in the paddocks or helping with the horses, making sure you’re safe and comfortable. He’s also very musical, often singing or humming around the house, which adds to the cheerful atmosphere. The Friends: If you come, you’ll probably meet Mathilde and Eliza, two wonderful young women who come to ride and care for the horses. They’re both incredibly passionate, funny, and welcoming. They’ll take you on trail rides and help you explore the beautiful countryside. They’re an amazing part of the extended family and made my stay even more special. You may also meet Xavier et Cyril who are also a fabulous part of the team. Overall: My three weeks with Béatrice and Gérard were unforgettable. Between the beautiful surroundings, the kind-hearted people, and the sense of belonging they create, this experience exceeded every expectation. I left feeling inspired and so grateful for the time I spent there. If you’re thinking of doing a Workaway with them, do it. You’ll make memories that will stay with you forever.
