Description
Hello there and welcome!
** Last minute OK **
*** PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND FULLY BEFORE APPLYING ***
*** Minimum stay is 3/4 weeks, ideally longer stays ***
We are an organic homestead farm in the Terra Alta of Catalunya. We have olive and almond trees and we live 100% off grid. We are a private family homestead. We are near Gandesa, in the middle of the countryside. We are a couple in their sixties with a background in law and neuroscience, enjoying nature and the peace of rural life after a life working for big corporations and having created several companies. We are both sailors, Carlota is a skipper and Marc is a yacht captain.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We like to share meals with you while we talk about local and world issues.
We like to hear about you and your views on different issues.
We will prepare a “clotxa” for you, a Terra Alta typical breakfast. We also ask our volunteers to prepare a typical dish of their countries of origin or adoption.
The horrific “batalla del Ebre”, a key episode of the Spanish 1936 coup d’etat, took place nearby. We like to take our volunteers to the International Brigades exhibit in La Fatarella so they can understand why and how many people from all over the world came to fight fascism during the fascist uprising.
Help
We will help volunteers learn about the tasks and provide them with very good accommodation. We would appreciate support in taking care of our farm, the trees, our garden, some rebuilding and general maintenance tasks. You will be expected to help 5 hours a day five days a week.
Looking for reliable, self motivated, very physically fit and strong volunteers.
Please no smokers. Vegetarians preferred. Must be happy to eat eggs. No alcohol, no smoking and no drugs. Must be very tidy and clean.
No couples please.

Accommodation
A fully independent small off-grid cottage in the middle of the almond groves. It comes equiped with a very comfortable bed, a sofa / futon, a kitchenette, a wood stove, a cold shower (also a hot water one for very cold winter days), a bike and a guitar.
We prepare and share breakfast and lunch during weekdays and provide food for the rest of your meals.
What else ...
Best way to get to Gandesa, Tarragona, is by bus from Barcelona or Zaragoza with the Hife.es bus company. Or alternatively by train to Mora la Nova.
We have hosted volunteers from many countries. You are all welcome.
Ours is a remote rural area, so do not expect to find nightlife or crowds nearby. Nature, solitude, meditation, reading, music, wind, birds, foxes, medicinal plants and plenty more is what you can do and what you will find with us. We provide a bike so you can move around and go shopping to the village if you need to.
All are welcome but we prioritize people with several prior volunteer experiences in farms and who are very fit. If you have no prior volunteering experiences, please tell us why you think you would like to contribute your work to our farm.
