Description
Our family of 4 live on a 100 acre bush block in Taloumbi, we are surrounded by native plants and wildlife and have a stunning view of Clarence peak! Achieving best of both worlds we are only a 5 minute drive to the quiet beaches of Broomshead. The beaches here are perfect for snorkeling, fishing and surfing.
Currently on our property we have a small family home and a self contained caravan in which guests would stay. We run our dwellings on solar power, have access to both tank and town water and have installed a worm farm septic system/reed bed to treat our waste.
We also have a large vegetable garden area, young orchards, chickens and a family dog called Maple.
We have many dreams and aspirations for the future and are excited to welcome like minded people onto our property to share in the creation of our permaculture inspired hobby farm.
Our aim is to be as self sufficient as we can whilst maintaining a balance with modern life. We love growing and making our own food and medicine, allowing us to deepen our connection to the land and nature that we live in.Types of help and learning opportunities

He is also a nature lover, who enjoys fishing, hunting and free diving.
Our property is situated an hour south of Byron Bay which is bustling beach side town, and hotspot for visitors from around the world. Byron is known for its beautiful beaches and vibrant community!

Help
We are looking for people who are interested in helping to maintain our gardens and orchards, this includes, mulching, weeding, pruning, fertilising and lawn care.
We often have building projects on the go and require help to build new infrastructure to support our growing sustainable farm and future business ideas. For instance we are currently completing the outdoor shower for the caravan and plan to build a new fenced area for our dog and some sheep.
Prior experience, would be great and or a willingness to work outside !
Guests would also need to be good with children as our two boys, River and Tao, are quiet social and love good company! Being able to play and engage with them would be amazing for the family.Languages

The caravan is the perfect Sanctuary for any traveller. It's close to the main house but far enough away to have your own privacy, where you can enjoy the wildlife and open sky ✨️
Is it self contained and newly renovated, with a queen bed and under cover patio. The caravan has power, internet and camp kitchen supplies, with a gas cooker, fridge, cooking and eating utensils.
We are happy to share some dinners but as the caravan is pretty self sufficient, we ask guests to supply and make most of their meals on their own.
Guests are obviously welcome to harvest from the vegetable garden and orchards with whatever is in supply.
There is a seperate outdoor shower and toilet for our workaway guests to use.
We also have cleared walking trails throughout the property for guests to explore and as I said earlier the beach is only a 5 minture drive from our property. What else ...
We are happy to help guests become familiar with the local area but we do recommend arriving in your own vehicle as there is no public transport in our area and the closet town of Maclean is a 15 minute drive.
To insure that I know guests have read our profile and they understand what is expected of them, can you please put RETRO CARAVAN in the subject title of your message.
Look forward to hearing from you 👌A little more information

Guest have access to high speed internet and power. And the caravan provides a quiet place to work. Our Autumn and spring would be good months to work in the caravan
Space for parking camper vans
We would be able to host travellers who arrive in their own campervans etc. Their is an open area right near the caravan we have on site, so that would allow for travellers to utilise the existing set up, as well as their own. There are also other sites on our property that's guests could utilise but the use of power and internet may be limited.

He was highyly motivated and happy to help in anyway he could. Always so positive, capable and great with our boys. These are the experiences you look for in a workaway exchange!
We learnt so much about permaculture gardening, whilst also having time to explore the surrounding areas, including beaches, hiking and the local towns.

They helped with a range of jobs around our property, keen to give anything a go and were pleasantly autonomous during down time. We'd have them back in a heart beat !
