We were delighted to welcome this husband‑and‑wife team. They were hardworking, very responsible, and consistently reliable throughout their stay. They communicated with great respect and sincerity at all times, which made living and working together very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the lunch and tea‑time conversations — the sharing of their life experiences, their openness, and their genuine interest in learning meditation and mindful living made those moments meaningful and enriching. Their easy‑going nature and wholehearted support for both the household and our furkids were offered with care and sincerity. The thoughtful gesture of installing the garden hose was particularly appreciated and reflected their initiative and kindness. We are deeply grateful for their contribution and for the warmth they brought into our home. May the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas bless and protect them always, and may their journey ahead be filled with health, wisdom, and joy. With gratitude from Dr. Karma, Aunty Raj and our beloved Furkids 🙏

Verena is a hardworking, organised, and responsible Workawayer with a calm and gentle presence. Though she has a quiet personality, she is highly observant, cooperative, and attentive to detail. Her systematic way of working was deeply appreciated, and her initiative in carefully cleaning and reorganising the cat cabinet stood out as a meaningful contribution. She approached all tasks with sincerity and reliability, and it was a pleasure to host her. Verena integrated smoothly into the household routine and contributed with kindness and consideration throughout her stay. The hosts are grateful for the time Verena spent with them and appreciate her thoughtful support and positive attitude. They wish her all the very best in her future travels and endeavours. With gratitude, Dr. Karma, Sister Raj & Dr. Tenzin

Erika is an amazing young lady. We have never seen such a hardworking, thoughtful and understanding volunteer. She truly tops the list of all our Workawayers. She stayed with us for a total of 17 days. We just kept on extending her stay as she became part of our family. She is so selfless and never sits idle for even a minute. We recall her selfless service. Waking up early by 6am and then coming downstairs to bring our dear Sukhi (now deceased cat) out of the tent into our garden for the day. Once, Sukhi had such bad diarrhoea and without hesitation and taking charge of the situation without needing to be told, Erika sprang into action and cleaned up her tent and ensured that Sukhi and the house was clean. She never missed a single day of meditation. Sometimes, when we were too tired to teach the morning sessions due to the caregiving duties of another cat of ours, Rinzin (Baba), also deceased now, Erika would still come down without fail and practiced meditation on her own. She never complained about anything and never gave us a reason to complain. She was always willing to help in any way...anytime...so active and so joyfully doing service for the sanctuary. We could tell that she loves our animals, and when they passed, she continued to provide support from afar, although her Workawayer tenure ended. Erika has a very kind heart and truly understands others. We felt so comfortable with her and didn't realise how fast 17 days passed by. We dreaded the day when she would have had to leave. We continue to keep in touch because we have created a lifelong bond which cannot be explained. The connection we made from this Workawayer experience is something we cannot fully describe. Erika is one of the most grateful and humble people we have ever known. She always maintains her composure and her speech is always pleasant and respectful. Even after leaving, Erika never forgot about us. She made a beautiful collage of our seven furkids for us to remember them by. It brought tears to our eyes. One very important incident which we will never forget is the day our dog Mittu ran away from home with Jackie, our other dog. She and another Workawayer ran after them. She found Jackie and managed to bring him back home safely but because of the firecrackers, Mittu ran into the jungle. The other Workawayer left us in a lurch when we needed her most. But not Erika. She stayed back and helped us successfully find Mittu. Today, Mittu is with us and her best friend Jackie because of Erika. Everyone in the family loves Erika, my parents and siblings included, not to mention our Furkids. We will not hesitate to have Erika back at our sanctuary again. May the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas bless and protect Erika and famlily, always.

Mariana is an incredible human being. The only problem with Mariana is that one day, she decided to leave us and kept travelling. I wish she could have stayed with us for a year... She was in charge of our social medias but she did so much more. Not only is she crazy creative with the content she shoots and edits, she also has a great sense of humour and it shows in her videos. She also helped us out in every other area of the hostel, helped organise and supervise activities, helped giving out surfboards, helped to serve dinner at night... She was simply the best. Amazing skills and personality when it comes to interacting with the guests and the rest of the staff, she always made herself available, worked responsibly and with a great attitude. She will be sorely missed and whoever gets the chance to work and live with her should consider themselves extremelly lucky ! Thank you for everything Marianna !

Hinako is a very pleasant young lady. She is so respectful, kind and gentle and she is generous with her laughs. Her presence during our most difficult time between the time we lost our precious Rinzin (Baba) and Sukhi healed our pain. She was there to support us without much words, quietly doing her work and blending into the sanctuary. She is so hardworking and worked in the afternoon sun despite our repeated requests to stop. She is a determined and very intelligent young lady who is so courageous and open to learning about people and cultures. Hinako did not give us the slightest trouble and is so easy to get along with. An ideal Workawayer who has so much sincerity and is ever willing to help. She is also deeply interested in spirituality. We love the way she talks and laughs and blends into our sanctuary. She is a keen reader and never wastes time...always doing something... We miss her very much and feel blessed that Hinako came to us when we needed her most. We cannot forget her kind deed of digging two graves for our deceased animals, a grim task which she so kindly helped us, knowing that we were grieving. We hope that she enjoyed the field trip the Rabbit fun land, the mushroom farm and the Gurdwara experience. We will not hesitate to have her back again with us. She is such a joy to be with and we all love her. We wish her all the best in her future travels. May the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas bless and protect her, always.

I can’t even describe what this experience meant to me. It was my first time solo travelling and my first time volunteering at a hostel, and I feel like it just set the bar way too high for all the other hostels! I had the best time, I met some of my best friends there. I should have stayed only one month but I kept on extending 🤩 The people, the view, the team, the food. Everything feels magical and perfect. THIS IS THE PLACE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR, STOP YOUR SEARCHING!

Dear Hannah, Thank you so much for having me on your beautiful Paradise! It was a unique and great experience for me living off grid. You have created a wonderful place for Björn and yourself and I am amazed about your creativity on all the things you built. I am so curious how it will be in time. Thanks for sharing the beautiful events around the village. It was the icing on the cake.Though I did not stay long my stay made a big impression on me. Till we meet again. Hug! Rob

I have been very pleased with Sean’s stay. He did a great job cutting wood and helping with gardening. He likes conversation and will keep you compagnie in the evening, where younger workawayers would retire sooner to their room. Easy going with food as long as it is not to far from his irish home food. Porridge in the morning did very well. French cheeses on the other hand are not his favorite. A most striking thing about Sean is his calm in any circomstance. I am very greatfull for this very good workaway experience.

If you have the chance that Edgar applies for a workaway stay, do not hesitate; He is a skilled carpenter, a great gardener and woodcutter, he comes with car and tools and above all he is the best compagnie. Not only will he have the jobs done, he will even fix things you did not ask for. Very easy going he will enjoy nature and all the activities you propose. If you have a guitar or a contrabas in the house he may enchante you with delightfull music too. I look forward for him to come back.

I recently stayed with Sophia and Saskia for nearly a week and had a wonderful time! They are both very welcoming and open people. They included me in a lot of their life during my stay, including showing me around the city centre, going to a favourite ice cream shop, and introducing me to some of their friends. We also had many great conversations about shared interests, differences in culture between Germany and Canada, and their own travels. Nuremberg is a nice city, big enough to have plenty to see and do, but not so big as to be overwhelming. And Sophia and Saksia’s apartment is in a nice neighbourhood, within walking distance of the city centre. The apartment itself isn’t huge, but it’s cute and comfortable. I had a room to myself, so privacy was always available if I wanted it. For the work, I got the balcony ready for spring and repotted some house plants. The work was mostly completed on my own, but with clear discussion of what needed doing first and always the ability to ask questions if I was uncertain. Work hours were very reasonable. Overall, I highly recommend Sophia and Saskia as hosts and would gladly stay again!

My experience with Samuel was nothing less than amazing. Samuel and his wife Lucy opened me with open arms, making me feel completely welcomed and safe. This was my first workaway experience and Samuel did everything in his power to make me feel comfortable. From before I came, he gave me numbers of volunteers who would be there before me, and on my first day I had an issue withdrawing cash which prevented me from being able to pay my driver from the airport, Samuel then sorted the issue out with my driver which relieved me from so much stress and the following day after arriving assisted me with getting cash and so on. The work him and his family does at the schools are also so amazing. Him, the fellow teachers at the school and the students have such a beautiful energy that cannot be described into words. They all have this thirst for knowledge, which only inspires me and the other volunteers I was with. The children are also so kind and so welcoming. Same with the teachers. I have made some of the best memories with my time in Uganda, Kanoni Town, and would recommend it to anyone else who just wants to slow down their lives, and help others. You just being there, going to class, going to teach helps the community. And I am completely blessed for the experience I have gained on the way. Thank you Samuel, Lucy, all the children and teachers, and to all the volunteers.

Staying with Donna was an absolute highlight. From the moment I arrived, she made me feel completely at home, welcoming, warm, and genuinely lovely to be around. I had the pleasure of meeting her friends too, and it was clear just how much she is cherished by the people in her life. We even learned a new board game together, which was such a fun way to spend an evening. The food deserves a special mention. Donna's cooking was exceptional, generous, delicious, and made with real care. There was always more than enough, and I loved trying the amazing products she had brought with her from England. The work itself was varied and rewarding, a mix of home repairs and outdoor tasks, and it felt great to be able to give something back to someone who gives so much to those around her. Donna is the kind of person who quietly makes her community a better place, and being able to help her, even a little, was a joy. Don't miss the thermal baths in town either, absolutely worth a visit. I would return in a heartbeat!

I spent an amazing 2 weeks with Skye and her family. It is a stunning part of the world and a great place to be immersed in nature. There was a nice variety of jobs to help out with and it was nice to think more about eco-friendly living. I enjoyed every moment, from assisting in the houses, helping with stock takes and doing research for the gardens. I would highly recommend especially to people with permaculture experience.

The time we spend here was a dream! We stayed 2 and a half weeks and the first thing that was absolutely amazing about the two of them is their flexibility. Since our original Host cancelled us, we could come to them within one day and going on had such a beautiful time! We made quiet some progress in the garden which was amazing to see but not only the work was cool. The location is great too! We made trips to the see but were also able to go to the city by foot or use the bikes. But naturewise their region is absutely fabulus! We met friends of them and also another workawayer with whom it was a great time. So we can really recommend visiting them and having a beautiful experience at Argeles-sur-Mer!

Wow.. it is a pretty one-of-a-kind experience that I think it would benefit those of all walks of life to experience. The base and work is run in the most organised and supportive way I have ever experienced in my years of volunteering, and the culture this creates between the short and long term volunteers, the staff and the locals is quite amazing - you will join alone and leave with a family. The work is tough, the mornings are early, and the joy is immeasurable - it's really hard to fault it. I came for only 5 weeks but when the project end was delayed/extended I knew it was a call for me to come back and I returned for the end as well, celebrating a hard job very well done. Talking about the work seems almost redundant, you'll be doing manual labour on a construction site, you're catered for (incredible food - double Dal Bhat Dal Bhat Dal Bhat Dal Bhat every day), everyone is there to help and wants you to succeed I really just see no reason why anyone reading this review would not have already applied, and if you're accepted, well, I guess I'll just say I'll see you at the next project. Much love to all the team that make this and all the other projects you do happen.

We are very grateful to Marie for the time, care, and experience she brought to our project. She arrived with years of knowledge and a collaborative spirit, working closely with our team to better understand the needs, requests, and cultural context of the local mamas. Her respectful approach and willingness to listen created a strong foundation of trust and meaningful exchange. Even after her stay, Marie has remained actively engaged, continuing to support and monitor the work alongside the mamas. Thanks to this ongoing connection, many of the women are growing in confidence and strengthening their skills, which is creating positive ripple effects within the community. We also appreciate the patience and dedication it took for this experience to finally happen. Although Marie was not able to join at the first time she had planned, we stayed in touch, and we are very happy that it became possible when the timing was right. We are thankful for her genuine interest, respect, and ongoing engagement, and we look forward to continuing this journey together!

Rody is an easy going person with lots of experience and life stories that make up for passionate conversations. He is always eager to help, in particular in terms of research, and connecting people and resources. We had to let him go prematurely, as he was not enough present for the tasks at hand on our farm.
