Excellent!

Aiste was an absolute joy to host. Her incredibly proactive work ethic was phenomenally productive. Her ability for both interesting philosophical conversations and completely silly topics and antics made each activity fly by. I distinctly appreciated her interest in food, passion for rock climbing and her artistic skills.

My 2-week stay with Monique, Rose, and Andre was the perfect first Workaway, and I will remember it forever! When I arrived, it was to a warm greeting and a delicious meal. I immediately felt welcomed and at home. Their house is filled with art and mosaics (Monique and Rose are both artists) and they have lots of well cared-for animals. While I was there they adopted a runner duck in need of a new home, and started the endeavor of raising a puppy! The food was incredible- I brought some snacks from home but didn't need them. We exchanged Dutch cheese and Vermont maple candies, and drank lots of tea with cookies. Meals ranged from stuffed peppers to tacos and Indonesian food. We had lots of good conversations around the table, and went on outings to beautiful nearby places like Miravet or L'Ampolla. The tasks were laid out clearly in a list, and we could choose what we wanted to do. I built a stone bench around an olive tree, painted a mural, and helped with some other jobs like planting, trail building and grouting the patio. In the afternoons I went on trail runs, hikes, and joined outings into Tortosa. Monique, Rose and Andre all radiate warm energy. Monique is positive and funny, always asking questions and making sure you have everything you need. Rose is caring, smart, and a really good cook! Andre is easy-going, loves music, and I really enjoyed talking to him. All three have a great sense of humor, and are just lovely to be around. I would recommend this Workaway to anyone who enjoys project based work, loves nature and animals, and wants to become friends with their hosts :) Thank you again for everything, and I hope our paths cross again! Sadie

Bonne chance. Bisous.

Isabel stayed with us from August 12 to September 12, 2025, and it was a pleasure to host her. She has a quiet and calm personality, but her warm smile always created a very positive atmosphere in the house. She built great relationships with the other Workawayers and was always respectful and considerate of everyone around her. Isabel was extremely reliable and organized. Her cleaning and organizing skills were excellent, and she always kept the shared spaces neat and tidy. She also joined our DIY renovation projects with great enthusiasm and dedication. One thing I remember especially well is how skillfully she applied plaster to renovate the walls of a traditional Japanese tatami room. She worked very carefully and the result was beautiful. She woke up early every day and always arrived on time for the morning meeting, which we really appreciated. Thank you, Isabel, for all your help and your positive presence during your stay. We wish you all the best for your future travels and studies, and you are always welcome back here anytime.

Rebecah is a very pleasant guest. While she was here the new cats arrived. And Rebecah helped them really to settle in. She is really a cat lover. But, mainly she was here to help me in and around the house. We did a lot. Rebecah removed all wallpapers in the kitchen and painted the walls again and again. She cleaned the old dirty bathroom. Together we assembled the kitchen furniture and tried to fix the sink. She helped with the housework, cleaned windows, etc. We chopped wood and did a little work in the garden. Rebecah learned to heat the oven in her guestroom. I'm sure, I forgot a lot of things we did. She stood here for almost six weeks. In the evenings she introduced me to the Marvel Universe. We went to Dessau to the Bauhaus and the Master's houses and one day we went to Leipzig. She accompanied me to meetings with my friends and we walked along the river Elbe and to the harbour. It was very cold the first time she was here and she shoveled snow every morning. She ist really a nice, handworking young woman and I can highly recommend them. I enjoyed the days with her and the cats are missing her

Such a warm and friendly family. We immediately felt very comfortable and welcome here. We had our own room in the guest house which we shared with another couple but would go to the main house for meals which were absolutely delicious. The work was reasonable and rewarding and they were always happy to explain anything we didn't understand. I would recommend staying here to anyone, we could only stay 2 weeks but would of happily of stayed longer. Thankyou to your beautiful family for having us!

We had the most wonderful experience with Cecilia and Dante. Right from the beginning the communication was great and we arranged the dates etc. they were so welcoming and arranged for our itinerary for our whole South America trip. We stay 10 days and it was a time to connect and for us all to have a cultural exchange as well as for them to improve their English. They arranged time to talk and take us out and show is the local sites and eating places. By the end of the trip we had made great lifetime friends who I know we will be in touch and meet again.

Shelby had her first Workaway experience with us and it was a good one if you ask me! She was very flexible with planning her stay and she joined us with a very pro active attitude. Even though English is the easiest language for both of us, we spent most of our time speaking Spanish together. Practice makes perfect! Thanks Shelby, hope to see you again some other time!

If you are looking for a peaceful workaway where you can contribute to the preservation of native animals and learn a huge amount about the local culture, look no further! From the moment I contacted Jayalakshmi she was really responsive and provided loads of information on how to get to her. I was a little bit nervous about travelling as a lone woman so she even organised a taxi for me from the airport. Jayalakshmi has lots of wonderful stories about how she bravely left her life in the city behind and has slowly been building this amazing sanctuary for her cows. She tends to them with such care and shows volunteers the same attentiveness, by making sure they experience a broad range of tasks, learn about local culture and wisdom, and eat three delicious meals every day. Getting to know the cows was a privilege and I hope I can return one day! If you visit, be sure to purchase some of Jayalakshmi’s natural, organic soap which she makes by hand!

He's hardworking and responsable and respectfull. He did gardening, general maintenance. I would welcome him back anytime. Good luck in your travels.

Our experience was absolutely wonderful, we can really recommend it to everyone who likes dogs! We worked six hours a day in the shelter and had two days/four shifts (we had two shifts per day) off, which we could choose on our own. All the dogs were so nice, kind and cute, there are many puppies and small and big dogs, and also older dogs. Our main activities were cleaning the kennels, feeding the dogs, going on walks with them in a really nice surrounding with the sea and the mountains, making photos of the dogs for adoption, and there was still a lot of time to cuddle and play with the dogs. Anika is so kind and takes care that everyone can feel comfortable with the work and the dogs and nobody has to do something they don't want to do. In the volunteer house are rooms for one or two people, it is old and cold in winter, but you can feel comfortable and have everything you need. There is also Mina, the house dog, who really improved our stay with her presence, she loves cuddles and going on walks. It was also nice to spend time with the other volunteers when we shared meals or did something together on our free afternoons, we all had our Friday afternoon off. Argalasti is a small village, but with two supermarkets, a bakery, multiple restaurants and really beautiful surroundings. If you are coming together with someone else, you can share your bedroom and take your days off together. We really enjoyed our stay and we would both come back. Thank you, Anika (and all the dogs and people there), for this enjoyable experience!

Arisa is the most pleasant person to be around, we enjoyed her presence so much and she helped us in such a good and nice way with so many things. 😍 Arisa has a really big talent for organizing things, so now we've cubbies that look totally amazing 🙏 Arisa is very gentle, very friendly and happy, she brings such good and wonderful energy to the home, it was so easy to be around her in mutual friendship. 😍🙏😍 Arisa cooked a Japanese meal for us, a to us special kinda sushi we didn't know of. She's a good and thorough chef. She also helped cook bean brownies, some Pinterest cakes 😁and sausage horns as we call them in Danish 😁 We had many cheerful moments with smiles and laughter 🙏 I was very happy that Arisa joined me for some concerts and flea markets, it was cozy to be there together. Arisa always helped with the dinner if needed, and helped cleaning up after dinner if needed🙏. She's always so thoughtful and kind 🙏. Even the day she was leaving and there wasn't much time before she needed to go to the train station she started vacuuming her room which I stopped her doing bc it was more important to leave. But it shows so clearly how thoughtful she is, she had even helped with tasks all day before leaving. 🥰 Arisa is very trustworthy, she has so high standards for feeling into what is needed and what is appreciated and appropriate. She often knew when we needed all to retrieve and have all our own private space, including herself, which was so calming and relaxing. Arisa helped with tidying up and cleaning many places both upstairs and downstairs, and whenever she did the results were remarkable! Momo also really enjoyed talking to Arisa and they got along really well. 🙏 I can't emphasize enough how wonderful Arisa is, so full of light and beauty, her energy is light as a feather, she's a joy to be around ❤️ I really hope we'll meet again one day, dear Arisa 😍. You're always welcome back anytime!!!

Giulia was my first Workaway visitor and she has been amazing: she brings a very positive energy, takes good care of her surroundings and is really fun to work with. I loved her enthusiasm both in shared activities and in the work we did. Her enthusiasm and proactive attitude made me look forward to get back to our shared activities every day. And she makes delicious pizza! Thanks Giulia, you're always welcome to come again 🙏🏼

My time here was one of the best experiences I have had during my travels. I stayed here in Hagi for two and a half weeks and had the opportunity to get to know a project that brings people, ideas, and creativity together. Toru himself was a very inspiring person for me. During our shared meals we had many conversations about life motivations, art, and personal values. I truly enjoyed these conversations and was able to take a lot from them for myself. He is very open and always strives to create a respectful and safe environment, and he communicates very clearly. While I was here in Hagi, he also took me to a local onsen and introduced me to a good friend of his. With him I was able to go play table tennis and admire the seasonal plum blossoms. I also had the wonderful opportunity to see Toru’s art studio and even start a small project of my own. He gave me the space and time to create awareness for International Women’s Day in Hagi through art. In general, my days here were filled with creativity, peacefulness, and inspiration. The work is very easy and you can decide according to your own energy what you want to achieve here and what you would like to contribute to this place. I am honestly very impressed by this project and hope that many more people will have the chance to become part of it.

These guys chose to come at a challenging time of year in Northern Spain but showed great willingness to get out and get their hands dirty regardless of the weather. They helped us with a number of different projects and were flexible in their work approach. it was always a pleasure to hear a guitar being played in the distance and we were even treated to a private concert and a song made uniquely for us... Ruggi Ruggi... Which reminds me they had a very well-tempered dog which our dog still misses to this day. Our kids also talk of them fondly and comment how boring it is since they left 😁

We absolutely loved our stay at Carla, Bruce, Abby and Maya’s home. The granny flat, the wonderful green nature, the swimming pool, the lovely dogs Rainbow, Deedee and Lulu, and the quiet surroundings were all fantastic, but most of all we appreciated the amazing company of such an open and welcoming family who made us feel at home. The tasks mostly involved gardening or doing minor work around the house, such as painting. Carla always made sure we felt comfortable and not too hot while working. We also shared dinners together, and we can say that Carla is a very skilled chef, we loved her recipes! We would definitely recommend this Workaway to anyone. We hope to visit again in the future, and the whole family would be most welcome to visit us in Europe anytime. Thank you very much guys!!
