I had an Incredible experience at the school. Putra is a very kind and driven person. He made the effort to show me different parts of the culture of Bali. The rest of the family is incredibly welcoming and they make you feel at home very quick. The homestay is better than I expected, just be ready to wake up to roosters, but you will get used to it. The teaching is very easy and you are always with an Indonesian teacher who can translate everything so there is never a problem. Putra also is open to giving you a day off if there is a problem or you want to see something. he also shows you the best food spots that you would never have found by yourself and are much cheaper than the ones you would look for on Google. Overall, a great place to volunteer and I would recommend it to anybody.

My time with Susana and Noelia was wonderful! From the first moment I felt welcomed and part of their family. We had so much fun dancing, singing karaoke, walking on the beach, chatting and watching Stranger Things. I especially miss laughing with them! :) They are such kind and warm-hearted people. Susana is joyful, ambitious and always smiling. Noelia is one of the funniest people I know and has amazing dance moves!! Susana’s boyfriend David, who often came to visit, is also such a wonderful human being. And a great storyteller and cook! :) (now I can make the best hummus, thanks to him!) Their cat Emi is adorable, I loved cuddling with her! I felt very comfortable with all of them. The work was easy, flexible and not demanding at all, I've had lots of free time. Every Sunday I was invited to eat lunch with the whole family on the land of Susana's parents, where we ate Paella (which was SO good) and had so much fun - I was always looking forward to it. :) Susana's family and especially her parents are the sweetest!! I spent christmas with them which was amazing, we danced all night and had confetti battle - I will never forget that. :) Puerto de Sagunto is a lovely small town with many cute cafés, stores and a market every week. I enjoyed going for a swim at the beach and watching sunsets! I was able to borrow a bike which made exploring the area much easier. I also fell in love with Valencia, which is an artistic city not so far away by bus. They really cared about my well-being and adapted to my wishes. For example, my vegetarian diet was no problem at all - they even bought extra products for me. I also enjoyed meeting some of their friends. Unfortunately, I got sick at the end of my stay, but they let me stay one more day until I felt better, even though a new volunteer was arriving. I really appreciated that! I am missing you all and wish you the best for everything you do! Abrazos y besos, Sarah 🫶🏽

Andre stayed with us for just under 2 months. Communication was clear from the start and he arrived and departed on the dates he had outlined. He was very polite and respectful and neat and tidy. I would have no hesitation recommending him for a work away stay. He worked on construction of a new shed and cleaning sheds and feeding animals. Wishing you all the best with your travels!

We had a great experience with Matilde, she was attentive to the working duties and needs of other members of our little community, as well as she respected assignments and rules of the place. She shared generously her learning reflections and contributed to formation of social activities and cohesion in the group. We recommend her warmly as a contributor and friend.

My experience with this family was fantastic. They were incredibly kind and welcoming, and I felt comfortable from the very beginning. We visited some really special places together, which made the whole experience even more memorable. The work mainly involved a bit of gardening, which was enjoyable and fair. During my stay I also improved my French conversation a lot, which was a great bonus for me. I’m very grateful for this experience and would definitely recommend staying with them. Merci infiniment à Sophie, Paul, Thibaut et Iris❤️

I spent three weeks with Josie and Barry, and from the very first moment I felt warmly welcomed (not just by them, but also by their dogs, Poppy and Smartie!). They made me feel like part of the family rather than just a volunteer. They were also very kind and helpful whenever I needed anything, and they made sure I felt comfortable during my whole stay. Josie is an incredible cook! Every meal was made with care, and I always looked forward to dinner time. Plus, we bonded over our shared love for sweets :) The tasks I got to help with were varied and really enjoyable, which kept every day a little different. I helped around the house with things like painting, feeding the chickens, and helping their son Chris renovate his house. It was really nice to feel that my help was appreciated, and they always made sure the workload was fair. There was plenty of time to rest on the afternoons, explore the surroundings, or just enjoy the peaceful atmosphere in the mountains. The place is beautiful, surrounded by nature, and it’s the perfect place to relax and recharge. I also did some personal work while I was there, and the calming environment really helped me. I especially loved spending afternoons up on the rooftop reading, or relaxing on the terrace, enjoying the views and the quiet countryside. It’s a great place if you appreciate nature, animals, and a slower pace of life. I’m very grateful for the time I spent there, I would highly recommend staying with them to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat and the chance to help out in a lovely place.

We had a wonderful stay with Sanne and Roy at their farm for 2 weeks in February. They welcomed us in their community and we got to know many kind and funny people. All the animals were incredibly sweet and feeding them was always a lot of fun. Our other tasks included clearing the attic in the barn, demolishing the old chicken coop (that was also fun), building shelves for the basement, reorganizing it and other household tasks. We especially enjoyed cooking for everyone in the evening, they were very grateful eaters and the dinner conversations never went by without many laughs. We also got to learn new skills such as planting trees, Sanne told us a lot about biodiversity and we sowed the first seeds of the year. Sanne was very flexible with the work hours and we were given a generous amount of free time, which we spent exploring the nature around and visiting bigger cities. It was great to see how much you care about the nature life and that you are always trying your best to create an environment for all living beings around you. We really enjoyed our stay with all of you and are grateful for all the things we got to learn and experience. We hope to see you again sometime and wish you all the best! Nour and Linn🫶

Iona and Phil were so lovely. They made me feel at home from the very beggining . I really enjoyed spending time with them and getting to know them and learn more about Tasmania’s incredible wildlife. They are very passionate about what they do and that truly was so inspirational. They were very kind and giving and it was so nice to share time with them. I spent time in the garden weeding and watering and I did a bit of planting. I also got to feed the ducks and chickens. I harvested berries, hazlenuts, cucumbers and zuccinis. I processed some food and made sauerkraut from there cabbages in the garden. I also made some vegan meals that we shared together. I really enjoyed Iona and lovely Emma’s food too which was delicious. They introduced me to Australian film and let me borrow some wonderful wildlife books. I got to hike around their area and also cycle. It was stunning. We also went to cradle mountain together which was breathtaking. I’m so grateful for that. Thank you so much for your hospitality, I really enjoyed staying with you both and I enjoyed all the different chores. Hope to see you in the world again sometime soon 🥰 100% recommended.

I stayed with Louise and Bruce from the end of January until the middle of February and had a really lovely time on their beautiful property. Their home is located near Pukekohe, and they have a lovely veggie gardens, fruit trees, and are surrounded by nature. There are also plenty of animals around: their two friendly Labradors, chickens, cows, and a very cute cat. It’s a very peaceful place and a great way to experience the New Zealand countryside. Most of my work was in the garden together with Louise. She showed me many interesting things about gardening, plants, and working on the land, which I really enjoyed and learned a lot from. The tasks were varied but never too difficult, and the working hours were fair. It was always nice to work outside in such a beautiful environment. One of my favourite parts of the stay was the time spent together in the kitchen. We often cooked together, which was always fun, and the meals were delicious, many ingredients came straight from the garden or from their own farm. For the first three days my boyfriend was still travelling with me, and Louise and Bruce were incredibly welcoming to both of us. They made him feel just as comfortable even though he was only staying a short time, which we really appreciated. The accommodation was also very comfortable, with a private room and ensuite bathroom, plus a small sitting area which gave a lot of privacy. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I’m very grateful for the time I spent there. Louise and Bruce are warm, generous hosts who truly enjoy meeting people from different countries. I would definitely recommend this Workaway to anyone who enjoys nature, gardening, animals, and experiencing a relaxed Kiwi lifestyle. Thank you again for everything!

We had an excellent workaway experience. We were placed at the school, a simple one hour train from the center of Casablanca. Our responsibilities were straightforward, interesting and fun! 15 minute rotations talking to students of all ages practicing their English in response to various topics. 5 days a week, at most 3 hours in one day. The accommodation is located on the ground floor of the school itself and we shared the space with other volunteers. We had an unforgettable experience participating in the group volunteer trip to Chefchaouen and Tangier organized by Harim. Bonding with our fellow volunteers on the road was wonderful. Harim, the schools, and the other volunteers are an invaluable foundation for learning to explore Morocco. Before we left, we had the confidence and know-how to make our own trip to Marrakesh. We would like to give special thanks to the teachers of the Berrechid academy. They were so generous with their time and expertise. They made us feel right at home, both in their classrooms and in Morocco. It was a privilege to learn from them and we’ll keep them in our hearts. We wish them all peace health and happiness in the days ahead.

Thank you Sheree, Guy, Ryleigh & Eleanor for a wonderful stay! I very much enjoyed being part of your family and exploring Geraldine & Timaru. Your expectations of me were reasonable and allowed me time to myself too. Thank you for sharing your home and stories with me. Hope to see you all again sometime soon! Would highly recommend staying with this lovely family. Their profile is accurate regarding work and the proximity to the Inter City bus station makes it possible to stay without a car

Gabriel pitched in and willingly helped with things on the farm. We weeded ragwort, tonnes of it, gathered and loaded logs of firewood, tracked water leaks and grazed & minded Jersey cows. Gabriel worked hard and showed initive. I would re-commend Gabriel for any workaway position you have available.

I stayed at Fifi and Mother’s place for two weeks and I truly enjoyed every moment of it. Most of our work involved weeding and clearing areas around their beautiful farm, helping bring to life the projects that Fifi envisions for the space. The work was simple but meaningful, and it felt good to contribute to something that is continuously growing. We get to taste the famous Nasi Lemak and other delicious Malay dishes too. I really adored the cultural difference and similarities of Malaysia and Philippines through food, language, livelihood, and other things. We also had the chance to join a special activity where we worked alongside college students from KPTM Ipoh to restore and clean a traditional Malay house. It was a memorable experience and a great cultural exchange. Overall, I am very grateful to Fifi for the kindness and hospitality. The experience was meaningful, cultural, and something I will always remember.

Linda adjusted to life on the farm very quickly. She willingly and actively helped with eliminating ragwort, grazing & looking after Jersey cows, gathering & bagging logs of firewood, ironing laundering clothes, dishes and preparing meals. I would highly recommend Linda for any position you have available.

I stayed with the hosts for around 11 days and was warmly welcomed at the beginning. It was also a pleasure to meet their dogs, who are clearly very important members of the household. As the days went on, I realised the experience was somewhat different from what I had imagined when joining Workaway. The listing mentions around five hours of help per day, though in practice the rhythm of the days sometimes extended beyond that, and conversations about “work ethic” were a fairly regular feature of the household. Even when the day’s tasks seemed complete, these conversations often continued, which occasionally left me reflecting on whether my efforts had come across as intended. One of the aspects I personally value most about Workaway is mutual cultural exchange. While it was interesting to hear about Australian life and local perspectives, conversations often centred around this theme, and I occasionally found it a little difficult to develop the kind of two-way exchange I had hoped for. This placement may suit volunteers who appreciate a structured environment and clear expectations around productivity. For my part, the experience turned out somewhat differently from what I had initially imagined, but I wish the hosts — and their very well cared-for dogs — all the best.
