Working at the Artland was an absolutely amazing experience! I had never had the opportunity to visit such a unique place, and getting to stay on property and explore after hours was such a treat. The work consisted of animal maintenance and grounds work. The work varied greatly from day to day so there was never a dull moment! And to top it off, the grounds staff is the best! So friendly and helpful, made the volunteer experience so much fun.

Andrea is a lovely social person, hard worker doing his very best at tasks. It was a pleasure to host Andrea.

My stay here was overall a fantastic experience. Paco is a gracious host, eccentric, clever and passionate about this project. He is a warm person who will help you with anything you need. The work entails all kinds of things related to home-improvement and carpentry, which can be a bit chaotic at times, however anyone can do it and will find something they can enjoy. The village of Villabre is located in a valley in-between beautiful mountains. It’s really peaceful, serene and isolated. I met wonderful local people and had a really great time with the other volunteers, it felt very homey. To be able to stay here you need to be comfortable with not having modern convinces such as cafés or shops. I came here with my car which really improved my experience, as me and the other volunteers could go climbing in our free time! I had a really great experience here and will definitely come back to explore more of “Green Spain”!

iana and Victor are a lovely, friendly, and easy-going couple who were fantastic guests. They were very respectful of our home and took great care of our dogs. Jake even went looking for them after they had left because the dogs missed them so much! We’re very grateful to have hosted them, and they are welcome back anytime. It was a great experience overall, and we would highly recommend them to anyone lucky enough to have them stay.

I hosted Louisa for around 2 months and she was such a delight . She has good communication skills, she is organised, interesting, good humoured, creative, helpful, talented in painting , responsible , a good conversationalist and has a contagious laugh. My friends and all who met her were equally happy to know her and I would be lucky to host her again any time. !!!! GRACIAS !!

We feel incredibly grateful that Woody, Emma, Aurora, and Koko came to stay with us through Workaway. What made their stay especially meaningful was that they run their own hostel and business in Georgia, yet they still chose to dedicate their time, energy, and care to supporting our project. We found that truly special. It says a lot about the kind of people they are that, despite having many responsibilities of their own, they were willing to invest so much of themselves into helping others. During their weeks with us, they brought an amazing amount of love, knowledge, experience, and positive energy to our place. Emma is incredibly creative and highly skilled with practical and hands-on projects. Together, they helped create a completely new area that has become a beautiful addition to our space. Beyond the physical work, they contributed so much to the community itself. They were proactive, reliable, and always willing to step in where needed. Communication with them was effortless, both in one-on-one conversations and during our heart-sharing circles. Even in situations where different perspectives arose, it was clear how emotionally mature and communicative they are. They have a natural ability to navigate challenges with openness and respect, helping to create stability, trust, and connection within the group. A special mention also goes to the relationship they built with Enki. They spent so much time playing, connecting, and being present with him, and it brought him so much joy. When they left, there was genuine sadness because they had become such a valued part of our daily life and community. We wholeheartedly recommend Woody, Emma, Aurora, and Koko to any host. They are kind, capable, thoughtful, and deeply community-minded people who leave every place better than they found it. We, Bas and Nic, are already looking forward to hopefully visiting them and their family in Georgia later this year. Thank you for everything, we miss you already!

Jacey you are an amazing help with everything, in the garden and house. You are lovely with the Cats and the guinea pigs, and you cooked very nice meals, even in the solarofen. We had nice experiences together, by cycling and swimming. Even so early in the year, we swimming down the Rhine river in Basel. We visit the Stork place in möhlin and you helped also by weeding in the nature club there. One day by hot weather we cleaned all in the living room, just bring all stuff outside and clean it with water! Now we are happy about the nice living room jet:-) We did some tasks with the bees and make hay for the winter for the guinea pics You did also a lot of cycling, ones nearly till Basel an back! You are a very friendly person, it is nice that you was by us! we wish you a good time, you are always welcome and we hope to see you again. Julie was a great addition to the team. She stayed on board one of our vessels for 3 months and fit into our community. She was a great beach cleaner and took part in all the chores on board. It was a pleasure to have her!

One week with you in Mallorca was not just a stay; it was a journey into the heart of kindness, peace, and beautiful moments. Surrounded by the golden sunlight of the island, the beauty of nature, and days filled with smiles and togetherness, we felt that we were not just guests, but part of a family. Every conversation, every little task, every laugh, and every moment we shared has become a precious memory that we will carry with us. With your kindness and beautiful energy, you showed us that a home is not just a place; it is something people create with their hearts. Thank you for giving us the chance to make our very first Workaway experience with you such an unforgettable memory. This week will always have a special place in our hearts, and we know that a piece of our hearts will always remain in Mallorca, together with all the beautiful memories we created with you. 🌿

Hosts should not have favourites, but we fell in love with Francesco !!! He helped us in so many ways. He worked well in every task we gave him and was very attentive at all times. He is very mature for his age and worked hard until a project was finished...and is a great team player. He has good sense of humour and a relaxed personality. Also, Francesco is an excellent guitar player and he would be a great teacher for a host or fellow workawayers...not to mention his cooking skills !!! We are so glad that he has decided to come back to us for the whole of August. He has become a close friend and our door is always open for him !!!

10/10 would recommend! Paul is an amazing host who put lots of time and energy into curating a great experience! As a talented musician, we had lots of fun working on songs and had a crack messing about! It’s also a lovely location with access to lots of places to explore along the beautiful countryside. I would love to come back again!

Pete and Kathryn were wonderful hosts, and some of the friendliest people I have ever met. They are cheerful, hospitable and were always willing to pick me up in town or get me there in the first place. The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful, with the nearest waterhole only being like 50 meters away. The studio is spacious, has everything you need and immediately felt like home. The time flew past and my 2 weeks there only felt like a couple of days. In that time I got to meet some of their friends in town, we went to the beach and I got to explore the surrounding area. Until the next time!

Sono stato da Alessio e Angelica una settimana a giugno...che dire? il posto è incantevole e Alessio è sempre a disposizione, ti senti parte del progetto di ristrutturazione e rinnovo che porta avanti da sei anni ed è sempre pronto a spiegarti ogni cosa per farti capire la sua visione. Abbiamo fatto falò, c'è sempre qualche altro volontario con cui andare a mare e fare le gite. Lo consiglio a tutti gli amanti del mare e della natura. Spero di tornare un giorno anche solo per un saluto.

I spent one week with Andrew and Laura and had a great experience. My main task was gardening, mostly weeding. What I enjoyed most was experiencing their self-sufficient lifestyle surrounded by many animals. They also taught me about cheese making, traditional Portuguese food, the local market, and the surrounding area. I especially appreciated my conversations with Laura. She often raised thoughtful topics that encouraged me to reflect more deeply on myself. The only minor downside was that the caravan provided as my private accommodation did not have electricity, which could be a little inconvenient for a longer stay. Overall, I highly recommend staying with Andrew and Laura. It is a great opportunity to experience local culture and a different way of living.

I had a truly wonderful experience! Luluk and Aji welcomed me as if I were part of their family from the very first day. The work with the children was fun, enjoyable, and never too demanding, just a few hours a day, but it was always stimulating and rewarding. Even though I stayed for only one week, they showed me so much of the surrounding area and introduced me to many local people. I visited plantations, cafés, and was even invited to a wedding! It was an amazing cultural exchange because I got to experience real local life, not just the tourist side. Little Syifa is an angel, always smiling, full of energy, and ready to play. Luluk and Aji are truly fantastic hosts, and I highly recommend this Workaway. You won't regret it! 😊

I had a really great time at Clare and Martyns place , the farm was really cool so many different animals the Alpacas sheep , pigs, loads of ducks, the peacock, the turkeys, so many characters, and they're really well looked after , the runner ducks especially were amazing. Everyday we would clean out and do all jinds of jobs around the farm, there was never a dull moment ,,i would definitely go back it was lovely. The isle of Lewis itself is a beautiful place, on my days off i went on long walks bird watching and was lucky enough to see two Golden Eagles on seperate occasions and also saw a Hobby twice. Martyn and Clare are great making everyone feel at home straight away and always making sure everyone has everything they need. Thanks see you soon

Ryan is a good guy with good intentions and nuce yo have as a volunteer. He's interested in the work that we do and helped in every aspect of project here, I can recommend him for any task and good sense if humor 😉

Ho passato tre settimane nella casa di Elena e Andrea che si trova in alto su una collina di dove uno ha una splendida vista panoramica. Anche il grande giardino, con orto, frutteto, tante fragole selvatiche e un forno a legna, è molto bello e tranquillo, un posto che invita a rilassarsi. Elena e Andrea, che ci sono trasferiti qualche anno fa dopo una vita cittadina a Firenze, sono accoglienti, scherzosi e socievoli. Abbiamo passato belle serate giocando a diversi giochi, anche con alcuni parenti e amici che stavano visitando. Anche loro erano aperti e interessati cosicche ho sempre avuto l'impressione di essere il benvenuto. La cucina è il luogo centrale della casa, dove la mattina entrano i cinque gatti (numero potrebbe aumentarsi nel corso del tempo) a mangiare, si mangia la colazione e qualche volta, dipende della stagione, altri pasti. Andrea e Elena cuocono benissimo tutti e due e anch'io avevo il piacere di poter preparare qualche piatto. Siccome Elena ama sperimentare nella cucina, anch'io mi sentivo libero ad improvisare un po'. Inoltre abbiamo fatto del pane nel forno a legna, che è qualcosa di specale e aggiunge un gusto più intenso al pane. La quantità del lavoro era giusto e ero libero a sciegliere i compiti che mi piacessero. Ovviamente abbiamo discusso su ciò che potrei fare, ma non ero mai obbligato a fare un certo compito, Elena e Andrea sono molto flessibili in questo rispetto. Alla fine la piuparte del lavoro riguardava la legna: spaccarla, segarla con Andrea e fare delle cataste dei tronci di due alberi ricentemente abbattuti. Inoltre ho fatto un po' di giardinaggio con Elena e verniciato qualche muro e termosifino dentro la casa. Ho scritto questo messagio in italiano, perché Elena e Andrea mi hanno aiutato un sacco a migliorare le mie conoscenze della lingua. Abbiamo avuto discussioni interessanti in questo rispetto e specialmente Elena, che è stata un'insegnante per i bambini, è molto brava a spiegare cose nuove. E non posso concludere questo feedback senza nominare paroliere, il mio gioco preferito, dove si deve cercare delle parole (italiane). Grazie per tutto, tanti belli saluti, Elwin

We are very happy and grateful that Sophie joined us in April and May for 2 months. She not only proved to be a hard and diligent worker not shying away even from strenuous physical work but was a delightful companion to be around. We appreciated very much her love and care for all our dogs and cats and could fully rely on her. We had pleasurable dog walks together and meaningful talks about life in general. She enjoyed staying in the stone house and having also plenty of time to dedicate to work on her website. She made beautiful photographs of our foster German Shepherd which helped finding this dog a well deserved forever home. We can highly recommend Sophie and it would be nice, if our paths cross again.

A fantastic experience, savoring magical Ireland! I initially went to Patrick's for two weeks, but finding it a beautiful, welcoming place with wonderful people to share moments and learn with, I stayed longer. The work is relaxing, including doing a bit of gardening, and it's also enjoyable. There are also some fantastic animals and two lively dogs. Patrick is a kind person and will make you feel at home, and he's also a good cook!!! So thank you!
