    Description

Hi! We are a family of four; Jenny (36y/o), Fredrik (39 y/o), Freja (9 y/o) and Iris (7y/o). We also have our dogs Naima and Maisan. We live on a farm in a small village in the north of Sweden, about 65 kilometres north of Luleå. The farm is from the 18th century and the house is a typical old timber house for this region, (Norrbottensgård).

Our home is located with the forrest around us and close to the Råne river, so every morning when we look outside the windows, the river is our view.

Jenny works as a teacher and Fredrik is a specialist officer in the armed forces. Our interests are our family, and spending time in the nature.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

The exchange you will get, is to be a part of a Scandinavian family and our way of life close to nature. You will take part in our work to be more self-sufficient.

We are an active family who likes to spend our free time with outdoor activites. We used to run a tourist company for ten years, with guided tours and as a outfitter, so if you are interested in outdoor activites you are more than welcome to join our family. But if you want to use your free time to do outdoor acitvites by your self, you can borrow equipment from us. So this is one of the things we would love to share with you.

If you want to learn the swedish language, Jenny can as she works as a teacher, help you with that.

As a hunter, Fredrik is more than willing to share his passion for that with you. Depending on when you want to visite us, there is a opportunity for you to follow him to the forest for hunting.

  • Help

    Help

We need help during the summer with everything that concerns a farm, mostly outdoors: gardening, painting, building, wood, general maintains etc. Some years we have hens or turkeys during the summers that also needs some care. We also see the opportunity for our girls to learn some English and get to know about other cultures.

You will have your own space in our storehouse. The storehouse was built before the main house, and the people who lived here then, lived in the storehouse while building the main house. The storehouse has a room with table and chairs, fridge and an easier stove, and porcelain. Above that room, there is a loft with two big beds. We provide blankets, sheets, towels and all food are included. We have an extra bathroom in the main house, which is only yours during your stay (so we don't need to share). You can also do your laundry in the main house.

You can eat all your meals in the main house kitchen. Often we eat together but sometimes you will make your own meals. We eat all kind of food, meat and vegetarian, mostly ecological. The meat comes from Fredrik’s hunting. We also eat the fish that the river provides us with. In the summer, we also have a small greenhouse where we grow vegetables. If you only eat vegetarian food it’s not a problem, but then you need to help out more in the kitchen. 
Unfortunately the access to internet is limited in the storehouse, but you are welcome to use the wi-fi in the main house.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

If you enjoy the nature, there are many things you can do where we live. Hiking in the forest, take a swim or fishing in the river, enjoy the midnight sun, or just relaxing on our farm.

We have several attractions in the surroundings we’ll gladly show you. If you enjoy rock climbing, we have a really nice, highly visited (but difficult) craig a few kilometers from our home. We can some time take you to the cities Luleå and Boden when we go there, but if you have a day of an want to spend it in the city, we can help you with the transport. We hope that you will follow our family in our everyday life, from excursions to meetings with family and friends.
