I stayed with Conny in Balapitiya for around 2 weeks and had a really good time. It was lovely to be around the cats and dogs 24/7 and I fell in love with them immediately. The work is easy and when you're more volunteers in the house you can split it so it's not a lot of work per day. When you love animals and you are ok to live with them and you like to spend time in a local & calm area this place is for you.

My stay with Salome and her family was simply amazing! I helped the workers in the fields from 9AM until 2PM and learned so much from them! We always had a good time - they tried teaching me Swahili, we made lots of jokes and they often joined me when the work was done as well. So grateful for all these nice encounters! The people I met at this place quickly felt like family and friends and are dearly missed now. Additionally the children were such kindhearted souls - I visited them at the hostel in the evenings from time to time and the whole project is simply amazing! The goodness in all these people truly warmed my heart. Other Masai often came by as well so I was able to engage with so many firendly people! And let's not forget about Salome and Matthew! Their hospitality really stood out - They did everything they could to make me feel at home and welcomed me with open arms. Furthermore the chance to visit and sleep at a Masai Boma was a once in a lifetime experience that I will forever be grateful for as well as for the visits to the Masai market and Wasso. Every day was filled with experiences, cultural exchange and joy:) In the mornings I was able to milk the cows which was such a nice opportunity to learn about their way of living and it was not easy but so much fun! So many nice conversations, shared laughter, dancing sessions in the kitchen and cabbage plantations later I can only look back with gratitude. Thank you all for everything and see u again someday! Miss you all so much❤️

In January, our house sitter stayed in our home for a month while we were on holiday. She arrived about a week after we had already left, so we prepared everything in advance by sending her a few videos explaining the daily routines. From the very beginning, everything worked out perfectly. She took such loving and responsible care of our animals. The chickens, the rabbits, and our cat were all doing wonderfully, and she kept us regularly updated, which gave us great peace of mind. Knowing that our home and animals were in such good hands allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our time away. When we returned during the night before her departure, everything was clean, tidy, and exactly as we had left it. The next morning, I had the chance to share breakfast with her before she left. It was really lovely to meet her in person. She is a very kind, calm and pleasant person, and I immediately felt comfortable around her. I can easily imagine sharing our home with her even while we are present — she is someone you would genuinely enjoy having as a guest. We would be very happy if our paths cross again and it works out for her to look after our home and animals during a future trip. With such a reliable and warm house sitter, you can truly travel with complete peace of mind.

I had a wonderful month at Tina's and I'm grateful for her hospitality. I felt at ease quickly, and the accommodations were exactly as advertised. There were several of us, and I was able to have a room all to myself, which was lovely. During my stay, I diligently took care of the grounds and watered the large garden, as well as looking after the chickens. I was also very involved in preparing the tiles around the pool, an interesting project that required teamwork. It was rewarding to contribute directly to the progress of the work. There were six of us volunteers from different countries, which made the experience enriching on a personal level. The shared lunches were a truly convivial occasion: everyone took turns cooking, and the food was delicious. The bicycles provided allowed us to reach the beach in about 25 minutes via a pleasant path, which was a real bonus for enjoying our free time. Thank you Tina for this experience and these exchanges, I wish you all the best with the next volunteers!

What matters most is the well-being of the cats and dogs At this place really, it’s a complete success ! You’ll find an exceptional level of organization and communication with a team of dedicated local managers : hardworking staff who know every cat and dog by name, and know their individual needs, ensuring excellent care and feedback They always emphasize friendliness and personal connection, while keeping the professionalism needed You’ll also get to meet volunteers from across the globe, each bringing their own unique culture and perspective I wish there were more coffee shops and local neighborhood life near the shelter, so I could take a break on my own, but on my days off, I had the chance to explore Athens, which made this already incredible experience even more enjoyable.

Elise was with us for nearly 10 days, and throughout her stay, she brought great energy and enthusiasm to our centre. She connected beautifully with the younger children and supported them with patience and care. Her involvement made the learning sessions more engaging and joyful for the little ones. The children felt comfortable around her and truly enjoyed spending time with her. We are grateful for the time and effort she shared with us. Wishing her continued success and happiness ahead and we hope our paths cross again in the future.

Maddy spent almost a week with us, and from the very first day, she was always ready to help. Whether it was working with the younger children, supporting the older ones, or even helping with household tasks, she was always willing to contribute wherever needed. Her positive attitude and dedication truly made a difference. We sincerely wish her all the very best for her future. We hope to meet you again someday!

A huge thank you, Jonathan, for this lovely review, written in French no less !! Thank you also for your stay here, which was much more than just a shared experience: it was a real pleasure and, above all, a moment that far exceeded all our expectations. From the moment you arrived in November, we knew these four months would go well. Hosting someone for an extended period is always an adventure. I often explain to my guests why I prefer longer stays. The first week, or even the first ten days, is almost always a period of adjustment: jet lag, differences in climate depending on their country of origin, cultural differences, changes in pace, philosophy of life, sometimes even diet, mealtimes different from home, not to mention the physical and mental fatigue that a new environment can bring. All of this requires time, patience, and a truly open mind. You quickly found your place with remarkable ease, as if you had always been part of the family. This adaptability, essential for a Workaway, this willingness to help and not just find a hotel, were your greatest qualities throughout your stay. Add to that your impeccable manners, your exceptional politeness, your strong commitment to household chores and keeping the place clean, and your constant attentiveness to others, which made daily life so much more pleasant. All the tasks took place outdoors, sometimes involving demanding physical work, especially with the horses, which is the main focus at this time of year, but also in the garden, requiring energy, perseverance, and respect, and you were extraordinary in all of this. Whether it was cold, raining, windy, or the days were long, you never looked at your watch as if it were a work contract; on the contrary, you even worked seven days a week because you wanted to, and because there was something to be done. This spontaneous and generous investment is rare and profoundly kind of you. Thank you again so much, Jonathan, for everything you've given, for your consistency, your reliability, and your wonderful humanity. You will always be welcome here, and we wish you all the best for the future, confident that you will continue to spread the same kindness.

We were warmly welcomed right from the beginning and stayed together with three other Workawayers. We had a super cozy little cabin to sleep in. During our stay, we finished the greenhouse project and always had all the tools needed to work properly. The food was amazing – we were very well taken care of, with freshly baked bread almost every day and two incredibly delicious asados. The wine in the region is also really good 😉 What made this place truly special was the family atmosphere. I had the feeling of being part of the family from day one. Esme, their daughter, quickly figured out that I’m great to play with, which created many lovely moments. I would come back anytime – to work well, enjoy amazing food, and spend beautiful evenings together. 😌😌

Katrin is truly one of the best Workawayers we have ever hosted. For 4 weeks, she was fully present—physically, mentally, and emotionally. She didn't just 'help'; she listened to my needs, offered brilliant ideas for my blog, and was a total pro with computer help. I usually consider myself quite well-organized and good with computers, but Katrin totally blew my mind! Whether it was planning travel routes or the way she aligned text on my slides, those 'little' details were so helpful. I also learned so much from her travel stories—she has so many of them, and every single one is a fun surprise! She has a magic way of connecting with people. Whether she was talking to my husband, our friends, or my son, she knew exactly how to chat with everyone at their English level. My son absolutely adores her and keeps asking when he can play with her again! Even when we realized we have totally different tastes in things like food and shopping, it didn't matter. We just laughed about it! Because we were both so open-minded, our differences just led to more fun stories. Our karaoke day was amazing. We feel so lucky to be part of her journey. We miss you and love to see you again!

From the very first moment there was a natural and easy connection with Andrei. With his youthful enthusiasm, openness, sincere sense of wonder, and curious nature, it felt completely natural to welcome him into our hearts and into our community. He quickly became a truly integral and cherished part of daily life here. We greatly enjoyed his eagerness to learn and his dedication to his work. He was always curious and motivated to learn new things, and open to all kinds of tasks — even those that were completely new to him. He picked things up quickly, and nothing was ever too much to ask. Working together with others also felt effortless and natural. It was truly a pleasure to work with him. It was also beautiful to see how warmly and sincerely he connected with the guests here. In those moments, he truly blossomed. Thank you, Andrei, for your enthusiasm and for the care and attention with which you helped look after this place — and all of us. We deeply enjoyed the time we shared here, and we will miss you. We wish you all the very best on your path ahead. You are always welcome to return — we will receive you with open arms. We can wholeheartedly recommend you to any host.

David has been with me almost a month. It has been a pleasure. He is a hard worker, is helpful and independent and does literally everything, every big or little chore I ask him. He also takes initiative which I appreciate very much. Living together with him is easy, he is discreet and considerate. We have had 10 events during his time here, musicians have lived here and David has helped take care of their needs, also driving them and documenting their work.

Where to begin... Susann was already the most helpful host before I came. She helped me to make sure I made the right decisions of how to get there. Even without her own car she managed to come and get me in Finland. I stayed with her for two weeks. She trusted me completely and left the care of her house and Gibson in my hands. It made me feel so welcome and gave me the most relaxed stay. Susann has many wisdoms and stories to share. Without her there wouldn't be a Muodoslompolo. She is the beating heart and she tries to let the little village bloom and grow as much as she can. Susann is a warm, enthusiastic and social person. She cooks healthy and soooooo good. Her dog Daisy and cat Gibson are as warm at heart as she is. The most beautiful company to stay with. The three of them stole my heart. Susanns house lays on the other side of the lake, across the village, which gives a beautiful view, quietness and so many amazing walking opportunities. The surroundings are so impressive. I went in wintertime and couldn't get enough of the cold, the glittering, the many colors of white, the pink skies, the sleeping trees, the sound of silence, the tracks of animals,... It's mesmerizing up there. I already miss it as my heart turned blue, but with a burning fire within. Thank you Susann for giving your space and trust. I think you are a very beautiful, strong, warm and interesting person. Always in my heart and who knows... one day to return. THANK YOU xxx

We truly enjoyed having you here as well. You were incredibly kind, adaptable, and responsible throughout your stay. You always arrived well before class time and were never late, which we really appreciated. Your professionalism and positive attitude made a big difference for both the students and our team. We’re so happy you had a great experience, and you’ll always be welcome here. We hope our paths cross again someday. Wishing you both amazing adventures ahead and thank you again for everything!

I stayed with William for a month and had a really positive experience. During my stay, I helped with a variety of tasks, including garden groundskeeping, cutting wooden panels, sanding, and painting for the art studio he is currently building. I especially enjoyed the location near the coast — it’s peaceful, quiet, and incredibly beautiful. The view from the house is stunning, and there are lovely walks nearby along the coastline. Skibbereen, the closest town, is also nice to visit. William was very welcoming and kind. We shared delicious vegetarian meals together, and I really enjoyed spending time with — and taking care of — his two friendly cats. He also brought me along to the local market and to a community café with queer people, and we spent time together going to restaurants as well. I highly recommend this stay if you’re interested in art, want to learn more about building and crafts, or enjoy hands-on groundskeeping work.

It was my first Workaway experience and perfectly amazing experience! I stayed at his quiet and relaxing farm for about a week. The main task was to feed the animals, and also cutting branches. He always taught me how to do some tasks. So I think it’s not hard for workers. He is calm and chill person and that made my life easier in there. He was a traveler before so you'll have fun talking to him about your trip. It gave me a hint of what is important in my life! We joined a local party, danced traditional Hungarian dances and I felt like I was part of the locals. And then I cooked Japanese food and ate it together. He has a pretty dog, she is so friendly, smart. She followed me when I was working alone, so I was able to live there happily every day. I was sad to leave them and cried on the train for the way back. If you come there, it’s going to be great experience. Köszi Atilla!!

Tom stayed with us for 5 weeks, and if he ever asks you for a stay at your workaway-place, you shouldn´t hesitate to host him. Tom is a stereotypical german in some ways: perfectly reliable, serious and clean - that is also how he fullfilled every task we asked him to. In other ways he is not stereotypical german at all, which goes to show what stereotypes are worth ;o) That means he is funny, warm-hearted and emotional and loves to eat and cook great food. During his stay Tom helped out with feeding and herding the sheep, inlcuding the work in the hayloft, taking care of the bottle lambs, feeding and watering the chickens, splitting and stacking wood, heating, cooking, processing meat after slaughtering, doing homework and playing with the kids, walking the dog, repairing smaller stuff, mocking out the stables... he was basically interested in everything. Very important to me as a passionate cook and producer of home-grown food: Tom showed me how to make Kimchi and he served us the best cream pudding ever. We hope to see Tom again soon!

We spent here two weeks. Keith and Peter are both very kind, polite and funny. Peter cooked sensationally good meals for us every day. During the first week, we did a lot of inside painting, and in the second week, we worked in the garden. The apartment with its pool and garden is truly wonderful. We felt very comfortable. At our last evening they invited us to a great restaurant and we had a really lovely evening! Thank you so much, Keith and Peter!
