Description
==============
We are searching volunteers for April and May to stay at least 4 weeks ideally 2 month!
==============
Our small shelter with 10 dogs and 18 cats is now located in Weligama. The big shelter with more then 230 dogs is in Nilaveli/Trincomalee. At both shelters its possible to volunteer! In Weligama volunteers are living with me (founder) at the small shelter. They are helping with walking the dogs, feeding, showering, cleaning and catscare. This is an important support for me, as there are many other works to do, to keep the organisation running. Once a month I visit Nilaveli for at least 1-2 week- that time the volunteers are taking care of the animals by themselves. But of course I am ready to support online, if there is any problem.
We are offering breakfast for free. There is a kitchen with full equipement, so you can cook by yourself ( or we cook together) and there are many restaurants near by.
Please be aware, that we accept only volunteers staying at least 3 weeks in Weligama. Less time is not senseful for us and the animals.
Big shelter in Trincomalee/Nilaveli " Lokku´s dogs&catscare: " Beside the big amount of dogs living at our shelter, we are running a spaying and neutering program, streetdogsfeedingprogram and a sponsorship program for poor familie and for disabled children. If you are interested to support the big shelter, the main work is to support us with social media work! We need portraits of our dogs to find adoptions/fostery and homes oversea. Making nice clips of single dogs and share it, would be a big support for us! Aswell walking the dogs and wheeldogs is a job for voluteers there. Just message me, so I will send more details and room pictures to you. In Trincomalee even a short stay is possible.Types of help and learning opportunities

My house (small,private shelter) has 3 volunteer rooms. Volunteers are living together with me and 10 dogs and 18 cats. The area is quiet and surrounded by paddy fields. In less then 5 min. by scooter, you are at the beach and the tourist area of Weligama. (Surfing, Restaurants, shops...) While walking the dogs you can see every day monkeys, peacocks and many other beautiful birds...Cats are living with us in the house and one of the dogs is inside the house too. There are cattoilets inside the house- so don´t aspect a hotel;)
What else ...
Weligama has a really good infrastructure. You can easily take a bus to Mirissa, Midigama, Ahangama and many other places, to see more from southcoast. Weligama is a surfhotspot and there are a few options for doing yoga aswell.
