Kathi, Gerald, Nino, Lottie, the sheep, and the four cats of their community in Wallsee are genuinely hosts like no other! The 6 weeks I spent in their home were grounding, gratifying, peaceful, hilarious, freeing, and warm. There was always food available, opportunities to cook, time to rest and to go for walks, many instances to learn about Austrian culture, and to find balance and a way to feel at home in the fun and filled daily routines of their life. Thank you to all of you for your patience, kindness, open-mindedness, global perspectives, humour, and understanding! I look forward to visiting again in the future :)

Staying with Sidsel over Christmas/New Years was a beautifully heartwarming experience! Sandefjord is a lovely town, and being cosy in the cottage was perfect during sunny and snowy weather. Following the initial adjustment of being 4 people in a small space, and navigating how the routines, and traditions of everyone could come together, the two weeks I spent there were filled with laughter, genuine connection, curiosity, exploration, walks, games, music, stories, and amazing food! Sidsel is an inspiring, energetic, spontaneous person who easily shares her passion for living a life filled with adventure and discovery, with all those around her. I look forward to visiting again in the future and a big thank you to Sidsel for having me and welcoming me into her Norwegian-Danish-global world.

I came for 2 weeks and stayed 3. This was a very rustic but charming place to switch off from the world (although the internet is great!). I loved the set up which wasn't demanding, you can choose your tasks and it's centred everyone sharing their skills and knowledge with each other. Some of the kids are energetic and a bit in your face so be prepared. But also one of them gave up their own room for me so very sweet. You have to be prepared that this is communal living where everyone gets involved but it's very rewarding. Yes the place could do with a good clean. I was lucky to be there when there were a lot of volunteers, kindred spirits and I think I met some friends for life. :) We found some good walks and a small lake to swim in nearby. I learnt a lot, was humbled and left feeling inspired.

Judy, Clark, Hazelle and Lilah made me feel at home for one week. I was able to lend a hand (mainly with painting and waterblasting) around the house and on the farm with the sheep. I also had the chance to explore this beautiful hilly region. The whole family were lovely to me and I really appreciated their hospitality, kindness, sense of humour and the good chats we had. A brilliant experience!

Really good experience with Vadim. Ethan enjoyed playing basketball with him and hanging out with him. He did check in and communicate on the WhatsApp group which helped coordinate activities.

It was a joy to have Isobel on the farm, very easy going, laid back hard worker. Always with a smile and happy to do whatever we needed. Totally capable of working solo but also fit in great with our little team for group work. Very self sufficient and capable person we would not hesitate to recommend to any host. Thanks for all of your hard work Isobel!

Volunteering here was a wonderful experience and definitely one of the best hostel and overall experiences we had so far. Even though we only stayed for a short time, we immediately felt at home and wished we could have stayed longer. Matteo takes very good care of the volunteers and makes sure that everyone feels welcome. In addition, the whole team as well as the other volunteers are all lovely people and we will miss them as we travel on. We highly recommend this volunteering opportunity and would always go back if our travels ever lead us again to beautiful Las Peñitas. We miss you!

I truly had a great time at the kayala finca. Sandra and michael were super nice with us ( and also good cookers and poker players 😊). Also always helped if we had an issue. I worked on different missions such as painting walls and metal, grouting the tiles, doing a path near the river, and others. The afternoons were super chill, you can go to the city, have a walk, take a swim in the river. I learnt a lot surrounded by the nature! The city is a bit far but being able to enjoy a beautiful vue everyday was worth it. Thank you very much for everything

I can 100% recommend staying with Alejandro at his countryside house project. Ale is a generous, calm, open-minded, and friendly person. The house is located in a charming small town where you can find everything you need, including small grocery stores, restaurants, and bakeries. His dogs are sweet and well-behaved, and the property feels like a private little forest. The house and all facilities are clean and well maintained. He has a very well-organized and fair system for food, work, and cleaning. The meals were healthy, nutritious, and delicious. I stayed with him for almost a month and am truly grateful for his patience in teaching me Spanish. The work tasks were diverse, and I learned a lot—which is something I really value about Workaway.

Sarah and Crosby are both very fun to be around as well as very hard working. I truly enjoyed my time with them and I believe we will be friends for life. They were very invective and artistic in many aspects and they helped situate things better than before. Highly recommend!

I spent 10 days with Judith and Richard and had a great experience. I immediately felt welcome at their place, specially when Judith handed me a bag with things for my breakfast full of delicious surprises :). They were always making sure I could come to their place when I wanted. We had many conversations, many delicious food, many Fika :) and we went on a really nice tour one day. I could go hiking, cycling and even roller skating. I helped with the horses, cutting wood, piling up branches and some other indoors work. Thank you very much for receiving me and I wish you all the best!

Paul was very kind and welcoming. He picked us up from Caldas da Rainha and drove us to the house, which is located in a small, quiet, and very beautiful village. The work was manageable and fair. Although Jess unfortunately wasn’t there, Paul took great care of us. He cooked for us and always made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our time and hope to come back one day :)

I spent two weeks with Diane and Ethan, two weeks that I will remember for the rest of my life. They're really kind and respectful and we did a lot of activities like going to the cinema or playing tennis with Ethan. Ethan is a really lovely boy who loves to talk and communicate with people and it’s really nice to have someone like him to feel more comfortable!

My experience with Neil and Catherine was wonderful. They were always incredibly kind, friendly, and attentive. They picked me up from the Poitiers bus station and took me back. One day, they took me to a restaurant to try some local French cuisine. They both cook delicious and healthy food, so it was always wonderful. They have everything you need to work in the garden, and the place where I stayed is fantastic and very comfortable. I highly recommend them and would definitely stay with them again. Thank you so much Neil and Catherine.

Itai and Blessing were most excellent hosts. I needed a workaway at the last minute and they came through when asked. Plus it was wonderful to feel like a true houseguest and not a part-time employee, as can be the case sometimes. Would recommend to others.

The few days I spent with Gerlinde and her granddaughter Marlene were lovely! Gerlinde has so much knowledge to share about various topics, I have learnt so much about native plants, we had interesting conversations and her food is oh, so delicious! And her sourdough bread was fantastic, it will remain in my taste memory for a long time (also how sweet to give me a fresh baked loaf for the road, thank you!). They are kind people and the Honeymoon Valley is a piece of paradise, I felt very inspired! Thank you so much and I wish you all the best!
