We definitely remember the feeling we had when Tobias was part of our team. He was very présent, communicative and took part in all the work: walking the dogs, socializing, curious about particularities of the dogs and their story. He may stay apart a long time, because he wants to understand the context. He can ask questions that need attention and might be a good start of a good idea for future improvements. Later, having knowledge and abilities in online resources Tobias was responsible for our website for German speakers and the Facebook page. We would be glad to see him having a good experience around. In addition, we will be happy to greet him in our shelter any time.

Helene was truly great to have with us. She is very hard-working, to the point that I actually had to insist she stop working because she kept going even outside of working hours (in the best way, haha). She takes every task seriously and always does her best. Beyond that, I really appreciated her authenticity and sincerity, which made working and sharing space with her a pleasure. I would warmly recommend Helene to any other host. She is reliable, committed, and brings a genuine, positive energy to the place she is part of.

Fee stayed with our family for 2.5 months and she was our first workaway experience as we were hers. First of all, I must say that Fee is just the most wonderful and sweet human being! She arrived at our place and immediately took her place in the house with a very calm and sweet presence. How to be able to explain this correctly… So after she arrived late afternoon, already in the evening she had fully taken her place within our home. She unpacked and then joined the home together with us in our shared spaces. It was so easy! It’s great to be a host to someone who feels so at home at once! She is a person who don’t need her privacy and hides in her room, but took her book and found her place in the living room. She is so gentle and easygoing and made me as a host be equally relaxed. We could spend our days side by side in the home and just loved and enjoyed each other’s company, without any effort or feeling bothered by the other. She could do her thing and I mine. We had great conversations and laughed a LOT! She was like a daughter, and a sister and a great friend all combined. She helped a lot around the house with house chores, helping with the kids, and doing some bigger tasks a few times, like washing the house! With great result! Cleaning the yard from trash. Removing wallpapers in the hallway for the future new painting of the walls. She was a driver and took the kids to kindergarten and school every day and drove to do errands almost daily. She always did what was needed and did it all with ease and a smile, happy to help! She was so good with my ten year old son! He can be a little annoying with stealing the tablet to watch and play on it! He can drive this mama crazy 😝 But Fee was so good with keeping the routine for him and took her responsibilities to be an authority for the rules of the house perfectly. And never ever felt as she could not do it by feeling afraid to step over boundaries she could believe I had. That made her to be the best of help in the house regarding him. Her help made me relax so much as she took over for me as the authority for the house rules and shared that task with me, with excellence! She was very firm and never budged and did it all with such a calm, mature, and kind way. She was so good with my little daughter of 2.5. She was very shy for a long time. But Fee never gave up, and always kept a smile towards her. After 1.5 month my daughter finally got warmed up towards her. And they totally loved each other. It’s nothing better for a mom, than to see the love someone else has for your child. And Fee certainly had that! Fee is very kind and easy to talk to always. Easy to hang out with. Never grumpy and never having a poor attitude or speech. We had series marathon! Watched married at first sight Australia with its 40 episodes and we had so much fun being couch potatoes together! We went for walks and tried to do art together. I never felt as if she was bored and I never felt stressed that things weren’t good enough for her. I must say, that my first workaway experience could not have been better in any way!! I’m so happy she is the one who came to us, and that she is the one who stayed with us for such a long time! I can not recommend her enough, for anyone needing help from a workawayer and wishes to invite a stranger into their home and family. She immediately becomes a part of the family and it’s like she has lived with us for months already within the first day. She tried many things for the very first time with me. Like, Coloring her hair. She became so beautiful in her new ginger color! She so badly wanted it but was so scared. And she overcame the fear and found out, how great things can get, as we do things we might be afraid of. She walked alone into the city center and back a Saturday evening, as she found someone to go out with. She’d never done that before. As it can be very dangerous to do that for a young girl, where she lives. So I saw her growing a lot during her time here, and she is not being controlled by her fears but tries new things out! A strong girl! She is so young, but her ways and personality are so mature. So I could trust her with everything. Even taking care of my son, my pets and my house as I needed to travel away for a couple of nights. I wish her the most wonderful of travels and exploring life through them as she grows as an individual and a young woman. Thank you Fee for the time spent! Lots and lots of love from us all!!!! 🩷🥰

Justine stayed with us only for 3 days, but she left a great impression. She was very clear in her communication with me, she was nice and polite, she cooked us great dinners and offered her assistance with everything. on the last night one of her friends joined us and stayed the night before they both set off again. I was impressed by Justine's travel story, and was very happy to have made a new friend.

Diese vier Wochen in Kampala waren das Berührendste, Tiefgehendste, Echteste was ich je in meinem 62 jährigen Leben erfahren und erfühlen durfte. Ich bin zutiefst dankbar dafür. Ich bin dankbar für die Unterstützung durch das ganze Team der AORWU. Was diese Menschen dort Flüchtlingsfrauen und ihren Kindern anbieten, ist einfach grossartig und getragen. Für sie ist das keine Arbeit, sondern eine Berufung, das ist so deutlich spürbar. Und für fast alle Frauen sind sie die letzte Hoffnung. Ich war gemeinsam mit Luisa (auch via workaway) dort, was sehr bereichernd und unterstützend war. Und ich bin dankbar für das Zusammensein mit den Flüchtlingsfrauen. Ich durfte mit ihnen in der Gruppe und einzeln sprechen, durften an ihren Anliegen, Sorgen, Ängsten teilnehmen. Ich wurde mit einer Warmherzigkeit, Offenheit und Zuneigung empfangen, die ich bislang nicht kannte. Jedes Gespräch, jedes Zusammensein war einfach ein Geschenk. Und zu sehen, hören, erfahren wie allein die Tatsache, dass jemand, ich, aus Europa kommt den Frauen Hoffnung gibt, gehört, wahrgenommen, gesehen zu werden, das hat mich immer wieder tief betroffen gemacht. Es ist kaum mit Worten zu beschreiben, wie tiefgehend diese Wochen waren, wie verbindend, wie ja, auch erschütternd und wie echt. Diese Erfahrung, dieses Erleben ist Teil von mir, ich werde die Frauen nie vergessen. These four weeks in Kampala were the most moving, profound, and authentic experience I have ever had in my 62 years of life. I am deeply grateful for this. I am grateful for the support of the entire AORWU team. What these people offer refugee women and their children there is simply wonderful and heartfelt. For them, it is not work, but a calling, and this is so clearly evident. And for almost all of the women, they are the last hope. I was there with Luisa (also via Workaway), which was very enriching and supportive. And I am grateful for the time I spent with the refugee women. I was able to talk to them in a group and individually, and share in their concerns, worries, and fears. I was welcomed with a warmth, openness, and affection that I had never experienced before. Every conversation, every moment together was simply a gift. And to see, hear, and experience how the mere fact that someone, me, comes from Europe gives the women hope, makes them feel heard, noticed, and seen, touched me deeply time and again. It is hard to describe in words how profound these weeks were, how connecting, how yes, also shocking, and how real. This experience, this encounter, is part of me; I will never forget these women.

You can always see this beautiful couple smiling—while preparing meals, washing dishes, doing daily tasks, or moving stones. We spent five days together, and I wish it had been longer. I’m deeply grateful for their help in finishing the stone wall for the olive trees on the slopes. I also really enjoyed listening to Constant’s music and playing together.

Ludo was amazing to have as a volunteer. She was always happy, enthusiastic, and had so much positive energy. She helped us so much - not only teaching the kids (and making amazing pizza) but also around the gym, and even created a wonderful piece of artwork for our gym ❤️ It was so nice to celebrate Christmas and New Years together, and the games and fun we played will be remembered forever. Please remember you always have a second home here!

Ky llego a nuestra fundacion y al instante se unio al equipo. Compartimos momentos maravillosos con el grupo de voluntarios y equipo de la fundacion.. Es una persona totalmente recomendable para participar de proyectos y ser voluntario... Estamos muy agradecidos de tener la posibilidad de conocerlo y compartir este tiempo.. It was such a privilege to have Lozenzo and Lisa at our place! They are a gentle and hardworking young couple, that are always ready to help with anything! Their sense of responsibility is unusual and everything they did was way behind of what was asked or expected. Their carry permanently a big smile and are always curious and caring to engage in good conversations. They adapt so well to our place, that we hope to see them again!

We had a nice month together with Fanny and Emmanuelle. The ladies are really hardworking, clean, and they took really good care of our dogs. They make really good food and desserts. :) I hope you have amazing adventures waiting for you!

Compartir en casa con Elena y Benny fue una experiencia muy agradable siempre dispuestos y alegres a las tareas que teníamos que realizar en conjunto se adoptaron mucho a las rutinas de la casa y pusieron todo lo mejor de sí en el ambiente al compartir en casa durante las horas libres espero que el viaje que emprenden solo cosas buenas y no dudo que a cada lugar al cual lleguen van a dar lo mejor de sí como lo hicieron acá muchas gracias por todo por cada uno de los momentos se le recordará mucho en casa

I spent three weeks here, and I had such a wonderful time! Edgar and Fang are great managers, they are both so understanding, flexible, kind, and communicative with the volunteers. It's clear that they really care about what they're doing and they're committed to making the hostel a fun, safe, and enjoyable stay for visitors. The work itself is chill and feels natural, and I got to interact with guests from all over the world. I highly recommend volunteering for Edgar because he's very easy to talk to and a really welcoming person. The hostel is such a lovely community and I'd love to come back one day, even just to stay there as a guest!

Federica y Peter son una pareja muy simpática y agradable se convirtieron en los primeros papás de los corderos haciendo que todo sea mucho más fácil en la crianza de los pequeños siempre alegres y dispuestos a apoyar en todo lo necesario con las labores del cuerpo y de la casa a quien quiera abrir sus puertas a esta pareja no tenga la menor duda de que van a ser momentos gratos y una labor muy bien realizada son respetuosos alegres honestos esforzados gracias por todo Federica y Peter

I spent my best workawayer in Malaysia here! (And I did 3 for the moment) Kak Muni and Cik Lah are adorable and thoughtful. They ask all the time if I am well, if it goes well, if the work is not too hard. That I can take a break to rest. They are concerned about the well-being of the volunteers. They are extremely kind and caring. They have shared a lot of knowledge with me. I learned so much about plants, animals and life on the farm. And they also shared food!!! They made me discover plenty of desserts that after 2 months spent in Malaysia, I haven’t tasted yet. Kak Muni always made sure that I had what was necessary. And she brought me the things I needed. They make me feel comfortable since the beginning. With an excellent reception And Cik Lah often brings us specialties to taste. And takes us to the market ! The farm is very pretty, very well maintained. The room and the kitchen are clean The work is easy and change everyday. I'msure you will do something you never did befor. Like feeding, watering, cleaning the cages, gathering, cutting the grass, rack, cutting the hedges.... I discovered that I liked cutting hedges ! I highly recommend this workawayer for those who want to discover and work on the farm. And be surrounded by good people. Also thanks to Ella for her kindness and for giving me lots of pens, to Fizi for dropping me off at the station and to Faleek, just because he is Faleek. My time here was amazing. The place is surrounded by countryside and really lets you experience true rural life. The work was well organized, with some daily routine tasks and different activities every day, from agricultural work to construction projects—so it was never boring. Simon is a very cultured person, and it was great to have deep conversations with him about philosophy, art, and politics. Kei was always kind, caring, and super helpful with my Japanese studies. The two children are very smart, well educated, and full of energy—spending time with them was always a joy. A special mention goes to Claus, the lovely and clever Swiss Shepherd dog, who followed me during all my outdoor activities. Thank you again for everything. Hope to see you all soon, either in Italy or in Japan!

I stayed with this family for about eleven months, and from the very beginning, I was warmly welcomed and treated as a true member of the family, which meant a lot to me. The host was very kind, and I was able to spend each day feeling happy, relaxed, and truly at home. My main role involved general household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and sometimes doing laundry, depending on the day. I also really enjoyed playing with her daughter. She is so sweet, smart, and lovely, and I truly loved spending time with her. I had free time even on weekdays, which allowed me to work online. The schedule was flexible and well balanced, making it easy to manage household tasks while still having enough personal time. Cooking was especially enjoyable, as I had the opportunity to try many different kinds of dishes. On weekends, we sometimes went out together by car to visit seaside towns, art exhibitions, or go hiking. I really enjoyed visiting new places with the family. In summer, we picked berries in the forest and swam in the lake, and in autumn, we went mushroom picking. In winter, we played in the snow! I also had the chance to take part in seasonal events with the family, which made my stay even more memorable. These eleven months were truly precious and unforgettable for me. I am deeply grateful for this wonderful experience and would highly recommend this host family to anyone looking for a warm, caring, and meaningful Workaway experience.

Naomi and Charly have just been fantastic, we couldn't ask for better volunteers for our year's end :-) They are hands on, attentive and fun to be with. The house was always tidy, they are very independent when you assign them a job and they'll do it even better than what you expect. They are proactive, skilled and open to learn but also teach. They have been fantastic with the kids, Charly is a master with the chainsaw and Naomi a wizard with the paintbrush. It has been great to have some swiss precision aroundf the house ;-) We definitely recommend you'll take them in!!!

We had an amazing time with Anna and Locky and their wonderful kids Oscar and Matilda. From harvesting blackcurrants to cleaning up the chicken run, every task was enjoyable and fun. The food was incredible throughout our stay, and the cozy caravan made us feel like home. One of the highlights was the day trip with the whole family to a glacier track — such a special experience and truly unforgettable. We felt incredibly welcome from the very first day, and the atmosphere was warm, relaxed, and caring. The chickens (Beyonce of course) added a lot of fun too! Thank you, Anna and Locky, for such a lovely time. We’re very grateful for the memories and highly recommend this Workaway to anyone looking for a genuine, welcoming experience.
