My workaway experience with Sam and Sally was quite unique. Both are kind and treated me so well. I was doing some maintenances in their home which I love doing to make rooms look pretty and uplift their energy. It was nice to have lunch together and get to know each other, always with nice and delicious vegeterian food . The afternoon was my free time where I could use it for my own. On my free days I enjoyed walking to the river which is a tranquil place under the trees or else I walked for 1hr to town Castillo de Locubin where there were few shops, restaurants and interesting places to visit. Castillo de Locubin is a quite town not much going on but this place is good for workaways who are looking for peace , quite moments and easy tranquil life. Surrounded by nature , the mountains, trees, birds ..... I had more insights through my travels and inspiration for my creativity as an artist in producing a sketch almost every day. Thanks again Sam and Sally for your kind hospitality.

Truly a beautiful place! The dogs are super cute, even if it feels a bit strange at first to be barked at. After a few days I got used to it and really started enjoying the work. Since there were many helpers, the morning cleaning didn’t take long, but there was almost always something to do. From midday onwards I felt quite free to organize my day. Occasionally there were still some tasks, but overall we had a lot of free time. The community with the other volunteers was great—we could cook together or go out and do something in the afternoons. Thank you very much for the unique experience! 🐕✨

Hester stayed with us for a while in December and January. And what can I say? It was a wonderful time that ended far too soon. Unfortunately, there was so much rain and storms during that time, so much miserable weather, that it was often impossible to work outside. We really wished for a few days of real “La Palma weather” so that Hester could also enjoy the beautiful warm side of La Palma. Hester is a very warm-hearted person who is easy to get along with. We had lovely conversations and she was always ready to help. She did a great job with all the work that needed doing in the garden and around the house. It was also a great pleasure and honour for us to have her as our guest. Dear Hester, we wish you all the best for today and for your future. Warm regards and hugs – Claudia and Volker

My experience at Finca with Mathieu was excellent. His project is truly inspiring. Over the years he has been recovering a large area that used to be used for cattle grazing, and little by little he is bringing the natural vegetation back. He is also growing vegetables using permaculture principles and constantly developing interesting projects to keep the finca healthy and thriving. It really feels like a small paradise in the making. The location is great, very close to the beautiful town of Filandia, which makes it easy to explore the area while still enjoying the peace of nature. The accommodation is very comfortable. Volunteers stay in a beautiful, large house and I had a private room with my own bathroom, which made the stay even more pleasant. Mathieu is a very generous and kind host. He knows a lot about the environment and sustainability, and he always has interesting stories and experiences to share. It’s easy to learn a lot just by spending time and talking with him. And of course Fiona and Tintin, his lovely dogs, are also part of the team. They are very cute and great companions around the finca. I highly recommend this place for anyone who enjoys nature, meaningful projects, and a peaceful environment.

Gardening, Cooking, Cleaning, quickly and spontaneously became the kitchen coordinator showing everyone how to cook delicious vegan meals. He accepted any work that it was needed, with or without rain, and was always present in our morning and evening practices. We immediately missed the friendly, lively and watchful Stefano when he needed to go to his next volunteering... Recommended in any project and we hope he will join us with better weather to plant trees in the food forest !

I stayed with Andre & his dog Arya for one month over Christmas and New Years. I feel like I could write a whole book about the time on the boat but to keep it short: This is a once in a lifetime experience and I would 100% recommend it to everyone who is searching for a beautiful adventure. The work evolves around preparing food, washing dishes, welcoming charter guests, as well as some cleaning and overall organizational work on the boat. On some days you’ll work more and on some days less, overall, the workload is extremely fair for what you get in return. While staying with Andre you can truly notice that he is proud of what he is doing. He makes sure to give the crew and also the guests the best time on the boat - by showing you the most beautiful islands, cooking the best food (he is a great chef - and fortunately will share his secrets with you!), giving you insider tips and recommendations for Colombia and making the volunteers experience a truly authentic and unique stay on the sailboat and San Blas. You will meet his local friends and other sailors which felt really special and makes this experience truly authentic . Andre is always happy to share some knowledge about sailing and teach you different knots, navigation, and so on which is why this is a great opportunity for everyone who wants to dig deeper into these topics. Leaving the boat felt so weird since it felt like home so quickly. I am so thankful for all the memories I was able to create and will never forget this experience. Thank you so much, Andre, and see you soon!

I cannot say enough good things about Omur and Ayla's Workaway! I stayed with their family for almost 6 weeks during November/December to help with olive harvest/tree pruning. I had been curious about olive harvesting and olive oil production for awhile, and Omur & Ayla were excellent teachers! In addition to learning a lot about olive farming, we had many great conversations about language, history, foods & family. Ayla and Omur are flexible, open minded, kind people who are always happy to share ideas/recipes/culture. We celebrated Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years together and it was very fun to teach/learn from each other. Accommodation on the farm is also very nice! I had my own home with a bedroom, living area and bathroom with heat/electriticy/running water. Ayla and Omur always made sure I had everything I needed (and more!) Everything I had to eat was phenomenal, and I learned so much about Turkish foods/beverages/snacks....I don't think I will ever eat so well again :) Ayla and Omur also were very flexible with me taking breaks to do some independent travel and gave lots of fun ideas in addition to helping me with the bus/train system. We took several trips together around Izmir during New Years too! Their sons, Kuzey and Deniz, were always fun to interact with and I really truly feel as if I gained a second family while I stayed with them all.

Lena is a quiet, intelligent and responsible woman. Even with all the rain that we had while she was with us, we could count with her help pruning bushes and roses, in the top of the ladder, or weeding, shredding... We hope to see her again in our project. Recommended to any project.

Filip was a great workawayer. He was always punctual. He is also a great cook and helped to create some wonderful meals. Flip loved the mountains and went up regularly. Flip is a very helpful and willing person. He is adaptable and willing to put his hand to whatever task he is asked to do. Filip is a very friendly person and willing to explore new ideas and new experiences. It has been a pleasure to have him here on the farm.

Fredi is a hard working, enthusiastic, motivated and super kind person. We were really so happy to host her here. She was - still is - very devoted to the project, and we could feel this in every possible way. She helped us with all the needed tasks - such as harvesting, cooking, overall cleaning and work in the fields, always with a pro active attitude. She is a person that is difficult not to like, carrying a positive energy with her. We cannot recommend her enough!! If she writes to you; you will be so happy to have her in your home and project :)

Thank you Catherine for deciding to come to us! Catherine arrived like a ray of sun from the first moment, and kept shining and bringing joy to everyone around her throughout her time here! Catherine is a very kind and confident soul that has so much experience of adventuring and making projects on this earth. It's a treasure to be around her! She stands with two feet on the ground while having very close to laughter and spontaneity. She takes a lot of initiative and seems to always have a natural flow about her. She really lifted our place with her good care-taking of the garden and painting, and she was always super nice with our dogs! As well Catherine cared for and made our other workawayers feel light and free in her company which was amazing. And as well Catherine loves foraging fruits, berries and mushrooms and suprised us many times with home-made cakes! We are very happy to have had the opportunity to meet you Catherine, you are always welcomed back to us and we really hope to see you again someday, somewhere! :D All the best for your future travels. A big hug from Alva, Gabriele, Poopie, Nini and Bippi <3

Franzi came to our project with her friend Nele and from the moment they both arrived - it was a PERFECT fit. Both Franzi + Nele are very independent, easy-going, responsible + friendly souls, that the people and animals of the Finca fell inlove with super quickly. With Franzi it quickly became clear that she is amazing with dogs and horses, lots of experience and a bit intuition/observation made her adapt well to our rescue horse's complex nature and the two large dogs of the house that need daily care. I even learned some great tricks from her experience and loved seeing how naturally she cares for animals (great as a house/per sitter!). Franzi also enjoyed deep cleaning our outdoor areas, helped in painting a room, planting new vegetables and preparing/caring for compost piles. Overall I would say she is a great support to any project and secretly I wish she would have been able to stay longer in Tenerife at ours! Thank you for all your energy and we wish you the best for your path, Amanda, Bee, Panda + Chance

We had a wonderful experience hosting Shekel through Workaway. She did an amazing job helping build our earth oven, and the result turned out really beautiful. Her work was thoughtful and careful, and she clearly put genuine effort into making it strong and functional. Aside from her skills, Shekel was very friendly, kind, and easy to be around. She brought a positive energy to our place and got along well with everyone. What we appreciated most was her common sense and readiness to help in any situation. Whether it was with the project or daily tasks around the farm, she was always willing to step in and support where needed. She helped us very much in setting up our website, something we will not forget, that she started our website. She was also there to help with our less than a year old baby. With harvesting fruits like cashew, she was there. She helped us in the garden. We would say that she is an all-rounder. She also did not push her opinions with any topics eventhough we had other workawayers with different perspective on lifestyles and things. We are truly grateful for her contribution to our farmstay and would happily recommend her to other hosts. Shekel will always be welcome back here anytime.

If you get the chance, stay with this family! From the very first moment I arrived, they welcomed me with kindness and truly made me feel like part of their family. I helped with household, laundry and cooking. The tasks were fair, and while the kids were in school, I had plenty of free time in the mornings and afternoons. The kids are great—well behaved, full of energy, and always up for fun. From Nerf gun fights and Mario Kart to board games and building snowmen, we shared many fun moments. I’m also very grateful for the cozy evenings, conversations, cooking together, and the adventures we had. I had my own quiet private room, and the house is close to coffee shops, grocery stores, and a mall in walking distance. There’s also a bus stop just 2 minutes away that goes straight to Quebec City. Thank you for this wonderful experience and for helping me improve my French. I’m very grateful for the time with you and hope to see you again someday! 😊

I had a great time at Gabriela's house! In the morning we were doing various tasks (nothing too hard) and from lunch it was a free time, so I could do whatever I want. House is on the hill and you have beautiful sea view there, so it was a very inspirational time. The place is perfect for artistic people, you will have a great time doing music, drawimg or writing here. It was never boring in the house as Gabriela is a very pleasant, smart, funny and humorous person. We had a lot of talks and laughters by the dinner table. I really appreciate the time I spent here. It was a good and productive time for my writings and also a nice rest and and stop before travelling. I definitely enjoyed it here
