JoËl is an interesting guy! He is very cruisey and has a very relaxed nature - nothing seems to bother him. We had a great week with him here and he cooked a lot of our meals as I had a cast on my hand and wasn't up to my usual cooking duties. He is a fantastic chef - the girls loved cooking with him and it was great to try some traditional Swiss dishes and many other culinary masterpieces! It was great to have him here and I enjoyed our interesting conversations. Highly recommend!

We hosted Alina in January and February 2026. We really enjoyed having her here and we were sad when she left! Alina is a quiet and calm person, and she is always cheerful. She is a reliable and flexible worker and she is very responsible. Our three kids absolutely adored her! She has a natural way with children, whether they are a baby, a toddler or a big kid. She helped with their day-to-day needs with love and careful attention. Alina is comfortable in the kitchen and made some delicious meals for us. She was able to complete challenging tasks, including shoveling large amounts of snow. We would definitely host her again! Thanks Alina, we miss you!

Excellent workawayer! Shona house-sat for us while we were away for a couple of nights. She was very easy to have around. Keen to learn and understand our business and lifestyle. We had many interesting discussions. Her skills, knowledge and experience as a vet nurse came in handy in trying to diagnose if our dog was in pup! All the best!

Tony’s stay with us was a truly warm and pleasant experience. From the moment she arrived, she carried a vibrant and open energy that blended naturally with the rhythm of life here. She approached each day with curiosity and sincerity, always willing to help and also to learn about the land, the culture, and the simple way of living here. Our conversations were thoughtful and meaningful, and it was always a pleasure to exchange ideas and perspectives with her. Even though her stay became a bit shorter because of the heat, the time she spent here was very genuine and positive. She was respectful of the space, appreciative of nature, and brought a kind presence to the environment. I’m grateful that our paths crossed and that she chose to spend part of her journey here. Tony will always be welcome back, and I wish her many beautiful experiences ahead in her travels

Zoe was a great workawayer. Her English is not the best but with the help of her telephone app we managed to get by. It improved with more confidence by the time she left. Her stay was supposed to be for 2 weeks but ended up 5 weeks because she had a lot of problems with her camper van as she had been let down by the seller. We managed to get the problems fixed but this hit her confidence in the vehicle and I think the extra time she had with us knowing she had a "home base" was of benefit. She was willing to take on any job given and completed it meticulously. We made a big art piece where I taught Zoe how to use a metal grinder for sanding and cutting. She spray painted a "dive tank bell" and then helped assemble and locate the whole, very heavy, piece. She laid a paving stone, level, in an uneven area for another display and brush painted an old wooden letter box ready for Richard to make a new copper roof for it. It now stands proudly in the garden. She also worked around the garden weeding and cutting back and her daily duty of feeding the chickens and picking blueberries. Zoe made us a beautiful quiche and salad for one of our evening meals. I hope she enjoys her stay in New Zealand.

I had an amazing time with Belinda and her animals. During the first few weeks, we cleared the garden of Christmas decorations. After that was finished, there was a booklet with all the information about the tasks that could be done each day. Toward the end of my stay, we went to the dog beach with Pumpkin and Eliza. I definitely recommend this experience!

This was my best experience in Peru! From the moment I arrived, I felt like a part of the family. What's not to love? Living on the beach with warm water and good surf breaks for all levels. This surfcamp with really laid-back vibes is always full of amazing international people. Sometimes theres live music in the Cafe. Only 3 hours in the morning for 5 days a week and you've got the rest of the time free to discover the magic of Lobitos. The free surf lesson was really excellent. As a total beginner, I stood up like 10 times, and it was super motivating! Highly recommended Workaway Experience. If you're thinking about it, go for it! Gracias de nuevo, Loana, y toda la familia!

Our stay with Jon and Evelyn was a great and unique experience!! They helped us in everything we needed for our start in New Zealand. It’s a pretty enjoyable company overall and they have a beautiful place full of hidden spots. I really recommend to stay with them. The work you do can get hard, but I swear you have plenty of fun ;)). They also have a lot of friendly animals all around. But the most friendly of them all is Maggie, you will understand the first day you arrive to Jon and Evelyn’s house hahahaha. Thanks for this experience, it was a great start for our trip in New Zealand!!

How do I begin to explain my visit without starting with not wanting to leave. From my first moments Jess, Dave, Willy and Tommy all made me feel extremely welcome to their beautifully cosy home and an addition to their daily lives. I loved getting to know them more and was so pleasantly surprised by how much they wanted to get know me and the wisdom they had to share. I stayed for only two and half weeks in Feb/March and adored experiencing the lifestyle they lead at this time of year. A true winter season was such a foreign and exciting thing for me and I had free time to enjoy walks in the gorgeous forests before the best breakfasts of my life (thank you Jess!). Willy was even kind enough to get out with me before his working day and our last walk in particular was bush bashing fantastic! I primarily came to assist with First Aid experience but really enjoyed feeling useful with any task that I could help out with and learnt so much! I went straight to writing all their wisdom of their healthy and homestead lifestyle down! From sous cheffing with Jess, learning how to bake sourdough, cinnamon stars, triple any batch of baking and just enjoying chats while in the kitchen, to learning how to stack wood, differentiate bunny vs deer prints in snow (facepalm) and converse in fluent Australian with Dave. Willy was so patient explaining the different trees and what plants I might be able to grow back home and Tommy made me fully relax into feeling like part of their family by ribbing me senseless about my proclivity for hot water and a certain Mayor haha. It was also heartwarming to see how well loved the families dogs Sunny and Lyka and cat (not even going to try and spell) are and for good reason they really add warmth to the families long days. I’m still repeating ‘sweetsicollie’ in my head ha. This was my first ever workaway and I know already that it was truely special. I hope the weather is kind, the machines keep running and you all put your shoes in the assigned crates :P Thank you for the time of my life 💙Crack on guys!

I had a truly wonderful time volunteering at this Workaway project in Mariquita. A huge thank you to Eduin for making the entire experience so special. During my stay, I had the opportunity to work with different age groups and students with various levels of English. Eduin also made a real effort to place volunteers in activities that suited them best and that they genuinely enjoyed. You can tell that he really cares about making the experience positive for everyone involved. The students and the teacher are very good human beings and I enjoyed getting to know them. But what made this experience even more special was everything outside of the teaching as well. Eduin always made sure we were enjoying our free time too. He organized activities for us, invited us to meals, and was always incredibly helpful and welcoming. I can highly recommend this Workaway to anyone who would like to teach English in Colombia. It was a meaningful, fun, and enriching experience. Thank you again, Eduin, for everything. I hope we will see each other again someday!

What an absolute gem of a woman! Yuwei went above and beyond to be helpful, she is easy to get along with, polite, happy and very forgiving of my incomplete or unclear instructions. (I mentioned I needed my air bnb apt 'toothbrush clean' and to my shock and embarrassment she obliged by scrubbing the stone walls in the kitchen with a toothbrush. Lesson to me about expecting others to understand my slang! ) Yuwei speaks a number of languages, is very bright and holds her own in conversations about all kinds of things. Got along super well with the other workaway I had here but was also good on her own, I did feel a need to entertain or take care of her. Definitely a great person to meet!

We have just finished a two week stay at this stunning home in such a beautiful part of the south island. Gudrun, who we spent most of our time with, is a lovely, kind, easy going and happy host, we really enjoyed her. John is great too but he was away for a lot of our stay. We mainly stripped walls, windows and gutted a bathroom. It was satisfying helping with the extensive renovations that need doing and we were pleased to make a difference during our time there. We loved exploring the nearby mountains and walking. We had great weather too which was lucky. A great time had and we wish Gudrun and John all the best with getting their home finished.

My time at El Cerrito was one of the best in my life. After my interview with Allison I was sure I want to stay there as a volunteer, and when she invited me over a week after, I couldn`t be happier. This project is a very special one because as a volunteer you get to know Costa Rica in the most authentic way you could ask for. Not only will you be working on a property owned by Ticos (which is a rare thing here in Costa Rica), you`ll also enjoy the most delicious Gallo Pinto every morning plus two more meals farm-freshly made by Liz. Paying for a tour to see a sloth and monkeys? These animals literally LIVE at El Cerrito and if you least expect them they will show up to say hi! Besides that I got to participate at Danger`s signature-hike inside the costa-rican-jungle which I will propably tell my grand-children about some day. I will also never forget the evenings with Allison, who`s such a warm, funny and sharp-minded character. She pours her heart and soul into the lodge and the business around and I have nothing but respect for her. For me personally this project had a huge additional value for my growth and for my further decisions and I can`t wait to improve my language skills so I can be back next year to add more value to El Cerrito!!

We loved our stay at Masashi, Shiho and Aya's, and the kids! We spent 2 weeks there and it felt too short! The children are so calm, funny and very helping, the living room felt super cosy place. We stayed in the room in the house, it felt like home for us. About work, working hours are very clear, and having weekends off is really convenient to go around the City, in Beppu or Mount Aso. We either cleaned the house during rainy days, either built outdoors stairs at one of their guesthouses. Then we walked around the City and come back for helping for dinner at 6 and then playing with the kids Uno! We also helped cooking for Hina Matsuri! The city of Taketa is super cute, the family with the 6 kids is adorable, and we felt so Comfortable during our stay! Shiho and Aya spent time helping us with resident card and health insurance, which is very kind. Thank you again to the 9 of you, we loved our stay, we hope to see you again one day! じゃあね 🌸 アデ and バル

It was an incredible first experience staying with Nat, Adam and their kids ! I felt truly welcomed in their peacful home, in the middle of the forest. First I stayed in the caravan, until I found two big spiders inside, so I moved to the studio in the middle of the night ! (Thank you Adam for catching the first one) I had everything I need in the caravan space : enough to cook and wash the dishes, shower, and store my things. The two beds (caravan and studio) are comfy I helped around the house with cleaning ,cooking, and feeding the chickens. I also helped Nat with her products (bottling and labelling) in the studio. I loved playing with the kids and baking with them ; they were chatty, so it was perfect for me to improve my english ! Noosa is easliy accessible in bus (just one hour), and Nat or Adam could drop me off and pick me up at the bus station, on my days off. I really appreciated staying with them for ten days, it was an enriching experience for me. PS : Nat and Adam cooked delicious and varied meals ! Thank you for everything !

Yi Chen stayed at my home from January 31st to March 1st, and I would like to warmly thank her for all the help she gave during that time. She was a great help in the garden, always willing to work and contribute. She also cooked several meals and regularly helped with the dishes and keeping the house clean. Yi Chen took care of many daily tasks with a positive and helpful attitude. For one week, she stayed in the house with her friend Erica from Hong Kong and responsibly looked after everything while I was away. She also helped care for the animals, feeding the chickens and geese and cleaning the rabbit’s litter. We also had many interesting exchanges about European culture and Taiwanese culture, which made her stay even more enriching. In addition, Yi Chen is a very talented artist and draws extremely well. She also took the time to teach my 18-year-old daughter Léa how to use a digital drawing tablet connected to a computer, which she really appreciated. Yi Chen is kind, reliable, and very pleasant to have around. I truly appreciated her help and her presence, and I can warmly recommend her to any future host. Thank you again, Yi Chen!

We have such beautiful memories of Nina. Her energy is incredibly beautiful and full of love. If she has contacted you to help with your project, don't hesitate; she's definitely in the top 10 for volunteers. She was always attentive to your needs and very helpful. She helped us in every way she could, and right during peak summer season, she handled it incredibly well, taking charge of guest reception as well as helping with construction, facility maintenance, and leading the team. Thank you for everything, Nina. The whole family remembers you fondly. We hope to see you again .
