Unfortunately, our experience with these volunteers was very disappointing. They did not respect the agreed rules and repeatedly refused to follow instructions given by the host and staff. Their behaviour created tension among the team and caused several complaints from our staff. We eventually had to terminate their stay due to their misconduct, and they even refused to leave the premises when asked. As hosts, we always try to provide a fair and respectful environment for volunteers, but cooperation and basic respect are essential. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend these volunteers to other hosts. Future hosts should be cautious before accepting them.

Sonja was helping us a lot in various fields, from cutting fire wood to cleaning and kitchen work. She showed to be focused and doing things with interest and curiosity. Starting with being a bit shy, we became very comfortable around each other. Since she is traveling in her car, we probably will see her again, do a hike together or meet up for singing again. Thank you and see you again :D

Our family had an amazing experience with Belle! She was only with us a week but fitted in really well from the start. My 10 and 8 year old kids loved her, she read stories to them and sang and played guitar with them. She treated them very considerately and respectfully and they really enjoyed spending time with her, particularly my youngest who can be quite discerning! Belle was keen to help out however she could- she did some decluttering, played with the dogs and cooked us some delicious vegan food. It felt like fine dining and we loved that she put together meals from what was in the fridge. Belle used her initiative and made herself useful but always in a considerate way, she was never pushy. She’s an open, kind hearted person and anyone would be lucky to have her as her Workaway. We hope to see you again somewhere Belle and thank you again for all your help!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Roger and Brenda's Manakau Hideaway! We did lots of weeding and mulching and the time flew by with great company by our side and of course, the lovely coffee breaks at the market. We enjoyed walks in the local area and had a blast finding geocaches with Rogers expert advice! We had a great time at the pub quiz and enjoyed evenings spent by the bonfire watching the stars. We will cherish these memories for years to come and would recommend Roger and Brenda's hideaway to anyone looking for great hosts and a fun time! :)

I spent about a month with Conny and the animals in balapitiya and it was such a great experience! I had my own room and a lot of free time, the animals were amazing and I met so many nice other volunteers! Conny really loves all of her animals and puts a lot of work into making everyone feel at home! I would really recommend to come here, thank you so much for having me :)

J'ai passé une semaine à Noubou au coeur du jardin communautaire et ai rencontré des personnes investies dans leur projet, pleines de bienveillance et sollicitude à mon égard pendant mon séjour. Ce village aux fins fonds du Sénégal est un havre de paix pour les amoureux de la nature. Ses habitants et particulièrement les femmes ont besoin de soutien logistique pour commercialiser leurs productions. Les futurs volontaires en charge de plaidoyer sont vivement attendus pour aider à financer un véhicule utilitaire. Un grand merci à la famille et les amis de Labo pour leur accueil.

Emmanuelle, Joseph and their four lovely children were our first Workaway guests. We were nervous, starting out with a family group, and knowing that my French, and their English, was a bit limited ! But we needn’t have worried as the family leapt out of their car at the meeting point for our property, after a particularly long and difficult journey from NZ via Brisbane, all smiles, hugs and laughter. The open friendliness, happiness and ability to fit in, of Emma and Jo, and Yuna, Lucie, Esteban and Leo was a constant theme for the entire time. This family is full of love, and that feeling flows into the contact we had with them. We had many meals together, and the table of eight was always a delightful experience . E and J love to cook, Joseph also makes delicious brioche and sour dough bread, and even Leo, the youngest, had a hand in helping Shari cook a meal and a cake. Joseph is a fantastic carpenter and all round handyman, the result of an apprenticeship with his father and his own numerous endeavours on their own rural property in France. I’m a self taught “jack of all trades“, and I learned so much from working with the dynamo, Joseph! Emma weeded, worked in the garden, cooked and generally kept things moving along. The two girls, Yuna and Lucie, were continuing their daily study routine, so the internet at the main house was needed. All the children quickly became comfortable to come and go as necessary: it was like having our own kids back home again! We were truly sad when they had to leave to continue their travels. It felt like old friends leaving too soon. Joseph and Emmanuelle were the perfect introduction for us, to Workaway. My atrocious schoolboy French is now slightly less atrocious and now contains many words used in the building trade in France! Our small cottage on the property, used for guests, was left immaculately clean. ❤️ Cultural exchange, labour exchange, happiness exchange: all 10 out of 10! Merci beaucoup pour tout.

I spent a week at Giuseppe's place, helping him build a low wall to create a terrace and working with firewood. I worked three hours in the morning and had free time in the afternoon, which allowed me to explore the surrounding area and enjoy activities with Giuseppe: rock climbing in Cefalù, an introduction to parkour, walks by the sea, and more. I had a great time with Giuseppe, who is a fantastic cook (his vegetarian dishes are delicious). My dog ​​also had a wonderful time with his four dogs. I highly recommend volunteering with Giuseppe :)

Maria was an absolute pleasure to host. She is a genuinely kind, caring, and a thoughtful person who quickly became part of the family. She was fantastic with our two boys and they really enjoyed spending time with her. She was also wonderful with our dog Willow, happily taking her for walks and giving her plenty of attention. Maria was always helpful around the house, proactive, and easy to have around. She brought a calm and positive energy to our home and was great company. As a bonus, she even gives a great massage! We feel very lucky to have hosted Maria and would happily welcome her back anytime. I highly recommend Maria to any future hosts.

I really enjoyed my time with Hannah and Duncan. The place is wonderful and the people even more so.(⁠◍⁠•⁠ᴗ⁠•⁠◍⁠)⁠❤ Working and living here I had an amazing time together with them and the other volunteers.(⁠◍^ᴗ^✯⁠) They have a lot of knowledge about living off grid, permaculture, building, cooking, different kinds of fermentation processes and a lot of other interesting things, and they love to share it!(⁠ﾉ⁠◕⁠ヮ⁠◕⁠)⁠ﾉ⁠*⁠.⁠✧ We spent so much time in each other's company talking, sharing stories , laughing, playing a lot of boardgames and having a lot of delicious meals together ( Hannah's food is scrumptious (⁠ʃ⁠ƪ⁠＾o＾⁠） ). My experience was absolutely great. The other teachers were very kind and welcoming and the children were absolutely wonderful. I really got the feeling that we belonged there! I hope we will meet again in the future! /Emil from Sweden

Eileen came to stay at our place to house sit and pet sit whilst we were away this summer. She did a great job. She took care of the horses, dogs and cat. Everything was well taken care of in her hands. She was confident and independent and her English is excellent. We came home to happy animals and tidy home. We hope she enjoyed her experience at our place. We totally recommend Eileen.

Well, I’m glad to know a person as Roberto he is a really good person… I lived for a month in Podere Ceppete, he was so attentive that I felt comfortable, ate well, to keeping in a good shape to go out for a run (because I like trail running) so thank you Roberto, also I had the luck to know for a couple of days to Margarita she’s so nice too. Well, after a month I’m still missing the weekends of pizza, I’m still smelling the chimney smoke, il cantucci, la pasta cooked for Roberto he is a good cooker in my opinion, he also show me much about Italian food and for me it was really nice experience. There were beautiful morning views and sunsets too, I had a really good time there, sure I’m missing other stuff to mention so don’t doubt to know and lived in Podere Ceppete, to lived your own experience and “enjoy,,!

Miguel tiene mucho conocimiento de la Agricultura Regenerativa y hay mucho para aprender de estas técnicas. Además es alguien con mucho energía, paciencia, humor y generosidad. Estoy muy agradecida por lo que aprendí allí no solamente al respeto a la agricultura pero también al respeto a la formas diferentes de comunicar y trabajar dentro una convivencia. Puedo decir que fue una buena experiencia.

I had an awesome time with Andrew, Rosie and Sofia, they are a happy and welcoming family. Despite having some setbacks because of a massive storm that had hit a few days before, they were always super positive and I was glad I could help in such a difficult moment and slowly bring the place back to looking good and ready for the season. They gave me a lot of inspiration and ideas regarding their way of living and possibilities for the future. The food was always plentiful, healthy and delicious and we always had great talks during meals. I had my private cabin and it was really comfortable with everything I needed to relax on my time off. Andrew goes often to town and always invited us if we wanted to join or needed anything. Everything was perfect and feel like a made good friends. I'm grateful for my time there. I wish you guys all the very best and I hope we cross paths again at some point. God bless you on the journey forward.

Mon expérience chez Fred a été vraiment magnifique. Je suis restée un peu plus d’un mois et, même après, comme j’étais encore dans la région, on a continué à se voir régulièrement. C’est difficile de trouver les mots pour décrire une expérience aussi belle. Chez Fred, on ressent tout de suite l’hospitalité, la confiance, le respect et une vraie générosité humaine. Sa maison est un lieu où l’on se sent bien et accueilli. Dès le début, je me suis senti acceptée et la bienvenue. Fred est toujours prêt à donner un coup de main et il fait vraiment tout pour que l’on passe une belle expérience. La région de la Corrèze est aussi magnifique. Même avec la pluie que nous avons eue, j’ai vraiment apprécié découvrir cet endroit et vivre cette expérience. Merci Fred, Pauline et les enfants :) Bises

I had an absolutely wonderful time with Maider, Paco, Nuria, and Leon. My stay was fun, restful, and genuinely enriching. Between practicing some Spanish, discovering so much about animals, and getting defeated over and over again by Leon at chess, I definitely left feeling much more educated than when I arrived! Maider is a wonderful host, thoughtful, generous, and incredibly accommodating. It was a real pleasure speaking with her; she is a bright, eloquent person whose company and opinions I greatly enjoyed. I'm especially grateful for the time she took to help me with feedback for some job applications I was working on. Paco is many things: besides being an unbelievably kind version of Indiana Jones, he is also an excellent cook who blew my mind on a regular basis with his food. Nuria is, of course, a very talented artist, but she is also a natural bird whisperer. I have no doubt she will find great success in whatever path she chooses. And then there is Leon, a little ball of positive energy, who absolutely dominated me at chess, although I did manage to get my revenge in our mental-calculation races. It rained almost every day while I was in Granada, which I’m told is quite rare. But that hardly mattered, because their home was filled with sunny energy, warmth, and friendliness that made the whole experience truly unforgettable. I very much hope I’ll have the chance to visit again someday, and perhaps next time I’ll finally get to see the bearded vulture breeding facility.

Leo is one of the kindest and most touching men I have ever met. Seeing so much love in his eyes for his buffalo's and his good boy Chester really warmed my heart. I captured all these moments in photos and videos for him. It was a pleasure to spend time in his Ranch and walk in the Valley. I loved hearing his stories and listening to him play music. The cabin was very comfortable and my cat Fergus had the time of his life there. Leo is also very patient when your English is not perfect. Which is rare. He has been very kind to me in every way, and I can't thank him enough for trusting me. Spending time with Chester, literally eye to eye, was a crazy experience that not everyone gets to have. I hope to be able to return one day. Thank you very much

I had a really great experience staying with Bodo. It was just a week but he was always kind and welcoming with me. The work was about four hours in the morning and mainly involved pruning olive trees. It was something I had never done before, but he patiently showed me how to do it and explained everything clearly. I learnt it quikly and It became an enjoyable task. Also, spending time at Bodo’s house, surrounded by nature, made the whole stay even more special, and I’m very grateful for the time I spent there.

Madlyn and Paula were lovely volunteers, they helped wherever needed and were always happy and laughing, They chat with each others constantly but continue to work. 🙏I gave them tasks and left them to do them and they were all done very well and quickly. Highly Recommend.👍 Thanks girls 🙏
