I spent 3 weeks with Hilary in December (reviewing completely slipped my mind) but I truly enjoyed my time here. Feeding and mucking out horses was a completely new experience for me, but Hilary was available to answer questions for me even when she wasn't. She generously facilitated day trips for my fellow workawayer and I to places such as the Giants Causeway, Belfast, Derry, and closer residing towns as well. I learnt more than I expected to about Northern Ireland, and met many of her friends and family, making it feel like a true cultural exchange - I had a great time, thank you so much!

ash and I had an absolutely wonderful week with Tara, Jim (& their gorgeous dogs)! from the moment we arrived, we felt super comfortable and welcome in their home. it is a really beautiful, eco space they have created amongst the jungle in Corozal. the work felt super fair and enjoyable helping on various gardening / maintenance projects around their property. we also got to see how their recycling system worked, helping it be sorted / collected by locals which was really interesting. it was lovely eating a delicious homemade lunch together over great conversations about the world! a highlight outside of work hours were sitting in the porch of our treehouse listening to the sounds of nature & observing the chickens! we have left feeling rejuvenated and inspired. thank you so much Tara and Jim! wishing you all the best.

Jean Paul helped me a lot, especially in the garden. He sawed up a fallen tree, brought in firewood, disposed of cut shrubs and branches... We spent a pleasant week together. Thank you, Jean Paul.

I spent 7 weeks at Harriet and David's beautiful home and farmland, and my time there became a peaceful reset in my travels that I really valued. I got to see two snowfalls, care for all the lovely and spirited animals and settle into a truly enjoyable day-to-day lifestyle. My one day off each week typically took me up to explore Edinburgh, but I was also able to see Fife, North Berwick, and several quaint surrounding towns. I met several of their friends and family, and even attended the start of a hunt which was a whole new world. In the wintertime, the tasks are slightly heftier with horse feeding being a big priority, normally starting at 8:30am, but it was not an issue. Other tasks included ironing, chicken feeding (and herding), and the morning horse mess-picking which took about 45mins-1hr each day. The tasks never dominated the day; there was an abundance of free time to do with as I pleased. Harriet always ensured I was well fed and as comfortable as if I were at home, keeping the freezer stocked with my favourite icecream the entire time (quite something to keep up with!) She even purchased a new pair of gumboots for me to use when the ones i was using were functional but leaking, just because it was a bit uncomfortable. I would recommend this workaway to anyone, but particularly to people wanting to slow down and take a beat in the open Scottish air and rolling hills, and focus on the animals and people in front of them. Overall, I am really grateful for my time here and their generosity and warmth, and wish them the very best! Thanks again :)

Sandrine is an excellent and willing helper with a great attitude to getting things done. She is creative and intelligent and cares deeply about doing things well. She is a good communicator and has clear boundaries. She helped me tremendously and I am very grateful to her. Work she did was declutterring and rearranging furniture and household items so they looked beautiful and were easy to use. She is very good at cleaning and made the place sparkle. She gardened and planted and watered and improvised a fence. She did hard dirty work helping me take rubbish to the tip, she helped create a flier for advertising. She took photos of things and listed them to sell at my request, handling communication and money in a trustworthy manner. She helped me put together a pen for chooks, and she also introduced me to interesting people who I have been delighted to meet. I rate her very highly and she is welcome here again. Her attitude is cheerful and practical and she is also a sensitive soul with a spiritual side. She is wise and smart and has a wry sense of humour. Also a quick learner. She wanted to learn about permaculture, and everything I told or showed her, she remembered and put into practice. I put 4 stars for communication because at times we had to clarify things. English is not her first language, but we could always make ourselves understood. Willingness to communicate well and honesty is 5 stars.

Marco stayed with us for a period of time and was an absolute pleasure to host. During his stay he helped a lot with several 3D printing projects, collaborating on new ideas and concepts and contributing valuable technical knowledge. He is very versatile, curious, and quick to learn, which made him extremely helpful across many different tasks. On top of that, his experience as a sports massage therapist came in very handy for some personal issues I had, and he was also able to help some of my employees. It was a huge bonus to have that kind of skill around. Beyond the technical side, Marco is simply a great person to have around. He is intelligent, capable, hardworking, and always willing to help. He brought a very positive energy to the house and was great company as well — a good cook, a great singer, and someone who genuinely contributes to a nice atmosphere. One detail that perfectly sums him up: he always showed up with coffee ☕ I can fully recommend Marco to any host. He is reliable, proactive, and a genuinely great guy to have around. We had a great time hosting him and would happily welcome him back anytime.

Thank you, Emely, for sharing your artistic and culinary skills with us. Mica, thank you for your original dessert. Thank you so much. We wish you all the best and hope you continue spreading love and friendship throughout the world. We miss you. Blessings. Jorge and Egla

Lili was an amazing volunteer. From the first conversation we had, I felt comforted by her commitment and excitement. She arrived and fit right into the environment here, observing and learning very quickly. She was respectful, thorough, took initiative, and handled difficult situations with grace. By the end of her time here she was coming up with her own creative projects and training the incoming volunteers. She was a joy to work with and we all can't wait for her to come back! I'd highly recommend Lili as a team member in any environment. She is a great communicator, fast learner, and has a zest for life that adds to any environment. Thank you for everything Lili!!

A meeting that will remain in our heart! Rhonal has an incredible joy of life and is always enthusiastic whatever the task entrusted to him. He helped us a lot at our place, we had exciting discussions, joyful sharing with family or friends, wonderful cooking and musical experiences. Rhonal is comfortable with everyone, and takes care as much of the places as living beings. We will be happy to see him again if life gives us this chance! Thanks for this beautiful meeting!

I had an incredible three months here and feel very grateful for the experience. It’s a truly special place surrounded by beautiful nature and amazing horses. The work is full-on and definitely requires a strong work ethic, but if you are motivated, not afraid of hard work, love horses, and enjoy working with guests, it can be a very rewarding experience. I learned a lot during my time here and appreciated being part of the daily life of the ranch. Carmen and Luis have created something really beautiful and it was a pleasure to be part of it.

Mara was a great volunteer, and we enjoyed having her around. It would have been nice to have her longer so we could have got to know her more, but she had already made plans to go further north. We had her working around the garden and she had no problems dealing with the heat in our polytunnels, which are very hot at this time of year. We didn't have time to test her cooking skills, but she's a very competent motorbike rider! Thanks, Mara. Take care on your travels and hope to see you again in the future.

It was such a special experience for me. Thanks to Greg and Wendy both for your warm hospitality and for welcoming me into your home. I truly enjoyed my time there. Helping with the harvest and experiencing life on the farm was very special for me. I also really cherished the moments we shared—cooking, sharing meals, and talking about life. I felt very lucky to spend these weeks surrounded by such kind people. I will always remember this time and the kindness you shared with me. I wish you both good health and all the best, and I hope one day I can come back and visit again.

Obrigada Dirk! Merci Melie! Bis bald! 💚

My 2,5 weeks with Kübra, Burak and Bade were peaceful, exiting and sometimes restless : ). This vibrant, young family welcomed me with open arms and I'm really grateful for their huge generousity. Amazing (mostly vegetarian) cook and super stylish Kübra and always patient and smiling Burak were always there if I needed anything or had any question. They made sure that I was comfortable and give me a lot of space to have my privacy and me-time, which I really appreciated. Most amazing hosts! The 'work' was even better, as talking in English with Bade was a lot of fun! Bade has a lot of energy and an endless amount of ideas. Sometimes she is home in the morning because they are not morning people haha. But the parents are always around, so I never felt like a nanny, only a play mate. Bade knows what she wants and has a lot of love to give. She understands a lot of English, and speaking gets better with every day. Whenever she doesn't know a word, she'll toddle over to her parents to whisper her question. Never dull times with this happy kid! Kübra, Burak and also Bade told me a lot about Turkish history, culture and food. There were some funny language gaps, but Google Translate always helps and I expanded my Turkish vocabulaire (which started as zero). They recommended me a lot of great food and some cool places to visit in Bursa. I preferred Bursa over Istanbul, much more air and less crowds. Lots of sweets and old buildings. It'll take you an hour to get there, and the bus and metro ride is pretty relaxing with all the nice views on the surrounding mountians. Two tips for future volunteers: visit Mudanya (beautiful coastal village) and join an international speaking club session at coffeeshop KOF (find them on instagram) in Nilüfer. Thanks a lot for my great time in Bursa. All the best with growing up Bade!

We stayed more than 3 weeks at Patrick and Heidi's farm and our experience was truly amazing. We arrived in the middle of the lambing season, it was fantastic to be part of it and to help Patrick. Thank you so much for teaching us so many things and for your patience, it was very enriching. We really appreciated this daily routine with you, Holly and the sheep. Patrick always make sure that the tasks are various, we were never bored and we did a lot of different things (feeding and taking care of the sheep and lambs, work in polytunnel and gardening, collect the eggs and interesting woodworking) Thank you Heidi for your kindness and your delicious meals (she's really an excellent cooker !) Thanks both of you for welcoming us, you are very great people. We will miss the lambs. Orane and Charles

The place, the family and a really nice Palermo city place🍝 I had a lovely time with this family! Valeria and her husband Daniele are very kind and welcoming, and their kids, Simo and Marti, are sweet and full of energy My main tasks were helping in the mornings by preparing breakfast for the kids and sometimes cooking something simple for them to take to school. I also walked their dog, Russel, for about an hour in the morning and another hour in the afternoon, which I really enjoyed, he is such a good pet❤️ Occasionally I also helped with some tasks at the hotels/palazzos they manage. With the kids, the idea is to speak in English, which is really nice for cultural exchange. Sometimes I also spent a bit of time with Simone playing or doing small activities in English as well! Overall it was a very positive experience and I’m very grateful for the time I spent with this lovely family. I would definitely recommend staying with them if you are looking for a friendly, relaxed, and sweet family environment in Palermo🫠

I had a really lovely time in Ansberg helping with Ferdi. He is 93 years old but very independent, kind, and a truly pleasant person to spend time with!! I really enjoyed our conversations and getting to know him The work is basically helping a bit with cooking, taking him to some meetings, feeding the chickens, and doing some light house cleaning. The routine was relaxed and the place has a very peaceful atmosphere 🫠 I definitely recommend this place to other Workawayers looking for a calm, friendly, and meaningful experience Thank you Maria, Jurgen and Ferdi for my time there, it was such a good experience!💕💕

Sophie is one of those rare individuals, who is bound for greatness. She posseses a strong work ethic, is clinical in her planning and was the closest thing to a project manager that we have ever had. She gets stuck in and worked as hard as the best workaways we have ever had. She stayed a month and we achieved so much because of her input. She instinctively knew when to give us space and when to join us. I cannot recommend her highly enough. It was a complete delight to have her here. She quickly picked up skills and can work independently on virtually any task. She became so integral to our sailing and work schedule that she left a vacuum after her departure. She fitted in seamlessly with our family. On departure as in everything she did she left her accomodation spotless. Well educated , polite, I run out of words to aptly describe how great she was. We would welcome her return at any time and are happy to be a reference as to her impecable character.
