What a magical place this is. I stayed here for over 6 weeks in the summer, came back for a month over the holidays, and will be back again in April (which I know won't be my last time). I've made so many special connections here, both with the animals and the people, that will stay with me forever. It's become such a big part of my life in such a short amount of time and i'm so grateful to have experienced it! It's hard work and physically demanding but is incredibly rewarding. If you don't truly love all animals, aren't comfortable getting dirty and working in all kinds of weather, or can't manage a vegan diet, this isn't the place for you. But if you can, it's really something special.

It's been a pleasure to have Parker living with us for a couple of months this year. The farm was in its low season therefore the little jobs were heterogeneous but Parker has an incredibly strong work ethics and would make sure to do everything she could in any field. She's been honest and reliable throughout her stay, moreover she's got an incredible love for animals and pets, strong as we've never found in any other volunteer!! She'll be missed and she's always welcome to be back anytime 💪🏽💪🏽

Ken and Linda were truly wonderful hosts who made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. They were thoughtful, considerate, and created such a warm and welcoming environment for us throughout our stay. Their home is in a lovely neighbourhood, and we would highly recommend that anyone travelling reach out to them as you will be very well looked after. We loved having the luxury of enjoying the pool after a nice sunny day of work. Ken is incredibly knowledgeable and generous, offered plenty of helpful advice and great local recommendations. Linda is a talented and creative host who enjoys crochet, and we loved seeing the beautiful pieces she has made. She is also a wonderful cook, and we were lucky enough to enjoy some of her delicious meals during our stay. We also have to mention their lovely dog, Charlie, who is such a friendly and sociable companion. He genuinely brightened our days. On top of everything, they even helped us with our travel plans and accommodation arrangements in the Sunshine Coast, which we greatly appreciated. We couldn’t have asked for better hosts.

Having Eva stay with our little family has been a most wholesome, beautiful and sincere experience. Eva is kind, caring and very respectful to the place, the people, the dynamics. Her presence and her work have left us profoundly enriched and happy. My daughter has absolutely loved having her stay with us; she has had the most wonderful time. Count yourself lucky if you get the chance to host this very amazing young woman <3

Both Alex and Andy were great to have. They are 2 lovely human beings and willing to tackle any project with love and care and the smarts of 2 inteligent well travelled persons. I, as the owner, was actually gone for much of their stay, but felt very comfortable with them there and was happy they decided to stay longer than the original agreement. They are the most wonderful host family. I am very grateful. Preschool's children are adorable and they are very lucky. I was very proud to see them doing so many things for the children with such sincerity. We tried so many amazing things together and made so many wonderful memories. Johor seemed like a very peaceful, safe, and beautiful place. You can experience a wide variety of delicious food flavors. The boys and Arrietty are very well-behaved, kind and talented. A great opportunity to share your country's culture with children and learn about the many cultures of Malaysia. We have just arrived in Mongolia, but we will always remember the beautiful memories we made with you.

Felix is a really nice guy. He knows about travelling and will help you with everthing as good as he can. You can learn a lot about the Thai culture. It was like a small family when we were there. We always ate our food together during the week, on a big table and sometimes had fun playing games together in the evening or shared experiences with other people or the staff there. He even offers to take you to Chiang Mai at the weekend.

Elanor, Margeaux and Roxanne made me feel welcome immediately. Their kindness and hospitality made me feel like one of the family. This was such a heartfelt experience which created the perfect home away from home feeling. My efforts felt appreciated and communication was open and honest. Elanor is an authentic person blessed with an open heart and mind. The ambience inspired much creativity and it was a joy to be immersed in positive energy day after day. What a lovely family genuinely interested in sharing meals and stories of life, the universe and everything in between. I absolutely loved being in their company and spending quality time with the girls, who were polite, engaging and talented. I wish them all the very best and aim to stay in contact. Thank you for everything we shared, it will be remembered fondly.

My partner and me spent an amazing week at Ghassab's place with his family. They gave us a very warm welcome and we felt at home, even tho we couldn't communicate in English with everyone. The work is from morning to late afternoon, either with the sheeps or the goats. Feeding the baby, going on the mountain and coming back to feed them again. Time stands still during the day, while walking surrounding by a majestic environment. I could stare at the mountains and landscapes for ages and I feel grateful being able to wander in such a place. We did our best to help Nura and tried to interpret what she wanted us to do. She is a very inspiring woman who shown patience towards us. Evening is a gathering time with the all family and sharing delicious food prepared by Ghassab's sister. She is a very kind woman and I appreciated our conversations. Ghassab is one of the most genuine person I've met, always keen to help. He has many stories to tell, a great sense of humour and is easy going. He taught us about bedouin life and Petra's stories. Thank you for the bottom of our hearts.

Johanna was with me for a week, She was very willing to do anytask i asked her too and was open to me explaining how i would like the task done , mainly cleaning and organising and some simple sewing. She also helped me with shoeing me how my phone worked and researched and bought digital products i had been intending on getting for a long tme. She is very trustworthy and motivated to do a good job. She took herself off to explore and i enjoyed her enjoyment of her daily adventures . we also had nice talks in the morning and a few times in the evening - at a cafe or going for a gym session. I hope to see her again - thanks Joanna.

Heloise and Joffrey are terrific helpers! They are super nice and enthusiast with the work, they did more than I expected and I also appreciated that they are very autonomous, enjoying outdoor activities when circumstances allowed. They were respectful of house rules and material, too. In short, I recommend them wholeheartedly!

All the amazing reviews they received clearly did not lie: my stay was truly magical! From the moment I arrived, Mish and Nige made me feel at home. Whether it was over a delicious diner or during working hours, listening to them share the incredible journey of their land was deeply inspiring. Their passion and dedication to conservation is contagious. I especially appreciated how they take the time to explain the purpose behind each task, which makes the work so much more meaningful. They are always attentive to how everyone is feeling and they make sure the tasks suit our skills and preferences. Mish even made sure I could do more planting after I told her how much I loved it. I learned so much about conservation work, trapping, trail building, planting, weed control and I will keep an incredible memory of my stay! I would 10000% recommend this workaway !!

my experience at the Finca is one I will have in my heart and soul for the rest of my life. I stayed with Franklin, Reyna and Angel for 3,5 weeks. I've learned new things every day! about agriculture, safety, smart habits, about working as a team and what works in that and what not, how to use tools in a proper, sustainable and safe way and about the beautiful nature of Costa Rica. Angel is open for every question and although he only speaks Spanish and me myself un pocito, he communicated with me in a way I could understand and he always did his best to make me understand. He is very funny and has a great sense of humor. He has a lot of knowledge about the land he's working on and talking with him not only improved my Spanish but also made me a wiser person. We shared a lot of laughs, history and opinions with each other. I pruned avocado trees and banana trees, raked a whole lot of grass and leaves and took care of fruits and veggies by giving them water, picked them on the ripe and right time. You can always ask if it's okay to pick something and I'm sure you can have some fresh fruits or veggies anytime. I enjoyed taking care of everything on the farm. The work hours (Monday till Friday from 6AM till 12PM with one hour break) for me were perfect, I like to wake up early and start my day right away with physical activity. At 9AM we ate breakfast with Reyna and Franklin and I really felt the hospitality and the care every single meal. By the time it was 12 o clock work was done and I went to my own cabin and made myself big lunch with fresh products from the market Franklin took us to every week. There's a lot of free time, in the weekends and after 12, I did a bunch of stuff like going to the city, went for diners at great restaurants, saw an oxcart museum and went on a weekend trip to La Fortuna with bus. The accessibility is easy because there are a lot of Ubers and I also walked a couple of times to places. To understand the busses for me was really complicated, but Franklin is very helpful in explaining how things work. I felt really safe at the Finca, the wildlife here is very different than the one I'm used to (I'm from Holland, our wildlife consists of cows) and because of Franklins attentiveness, reliability and the way he puts safety first I felt confident to explore and make mistakes. Dear Franklin, I enjoyed every minute on your farm and I'm grateful for your time, hospitality and all the things you told and taught me. Your smart habits, tips and tricks and resourcefulness (especially when it comes to sustainability) were so refreshing to me and will stick with me for the rest of my life and made me a wiser and better person. I go home with new habits and tips and tricks that I will definitely use. My next paintbrush will stick with me for a lot of years. my next project with wood will be efficient and sustainable. The next time I want sauerkraut, I will not run to the store, instead I will make it myself. I notice a voice in my head that says: "be mindful". That's your mantra that I made my own. That, to me has inestimable value. Thank you. Tell Reyna I said Hi! Melanie

This was my first Workaway experience, and within just a few days I already felt completely at home. I planned everything quite spontaneously, but from the first messages with Ivan, communication was easy and clear. I quickly knew which shelter to choose and it absolutely lived up to my expectations. A week in and I already knew a month would never be enough, therefore I will return in a week and I can t wait to get back to all my babies especially Pablo, one particular dog who stole my heart and I am so grateful they allowed for him to stay in my room. There are always some house dogs, what all of us volunteers appreciated very much. The dogs are incredibly cute and would happily cuddle with you forever. Sometimes the hardest part of the day was leaving their enclosures to move on to the next task. But don’t worry, throughout your shift, you’ll always have moments to give them attention in different ways, and after 2 pm you can spend as much free time with them as you like. The shifts run from 9 am to 2 pm, and as long as you remember that you do it for the dogs, they’re easy to get through. Most of the time, it didn’t even feel like work. The staff are amazing every single one of them is deeply dedicated to the animals. The atmosphere throughout the day was always positive and supportive, especially with the other volunteers around, a lot joking and laughing. The best thing about this place is that no two days are ever the same because of the dogs. Even if the tasks stay similar, the dogs make every day unique. Each day, I found myself falling in love with a different dog, sometimes one I hadn’t noticed much before, and suddenly I couldn’t look away anymore. Looking back now, three weeks later, I realize that this is what made my time there so special. Truly noticing the dogs and giving them exactly what they needed on that particular day. Some days they were all over you, craving attention. The next day, they might only want a quiet hug. Another day, they didn’t want much interaction at all , just to sleep in the sun while you quietly cleaned around them so they didn’t have to move. Every day was different, and every day was perfect. Thank you for everything 🫶

Enea was a terrific volunteer for us. Extremely warm, hospitable and genuine. He felt like a friend from the moment he arrived. His duties were are a social host, arranging daily experiences for our guests, which he undertook very well. In addition to his responsibilities as a social host, he also prepared a very traditional Italian meal for our guests which was very well received. Thank you Enea for your wonderful contribution. Can highly recommend.

Last October I did my first Workaway at Paddys place and it was definitely an experience I don't wanna miss. Every morning we had our Tai Chi practice, I learned how to make apple juice and what it means to heat up water for a warm shower. We had our fixed working times for the day, had lunch together and the afternoons were free but we sometimes spent them playing some music and cards together and we also had some interesting concersations about dreams and life. Paddy built all this by himself and is an artist and entrepeneur. If something isn't working he finds a way to make it work again. So if you want to learn and see an alternative way of living I can just recommend this place.

Sally is absolutely amazing person, so easy going and understanding, her sense of humour is golden. She made sure I had the most authentic kiwi experience and gave a bunch of advice for future travels. The pets - dog Rory and cat Eme are so funny and adorable. I will keep our time in my heart forever.
