Terasa is a pleasure to host. She worked with a smile, even though some days the rain tried to take our smiles away. She is punctual, enthusiastic and interesting to chat to. Rob has been a great workawayer. It was a short stay, but I found him to be friendly, open, and hardworking. He made good and easy connections with my son, animals, friends and neighbours. I am very grateful for the visit and support with my project. Would be very welcome back

Words can't articulate how amazing having the opportunity to help Julie and her 3 sweet, creative, and adventurous kids (Alex, Cadence, and Jayden) for the last few weeks. This was my second workaway experience, but really I count it as my first that felt truly whole from communication, lifestyle, learning, and connection, each moment was special and brought such joy. Though I am from Ontario, I noticed that each family within the same culture can be quite different, and having the chance to learn the family's traditions and BC lifestyle was so unique and cool - from sea shell collecting, finding crabs, THE OCEAN, to cooking and baking homemade recipes and storytelling, it really did bring joy to learning. I learned how to make homemade Italian pasta and tomato sauce by Jayden (the quirky, imaginative, and culinary artist younger brother) was such a delight being his sue chef! To learning grade 7 fractions by Cadence or sharing stories and baking pies together (the sweet, initiative taking, creative, middle sister) excellent teaching skills when she taught me fractions again lol! and combing problem solving in different ways when we noticed the different way Alex and Jayden solved equations compared to Cadence and I - it was learning, communication and problem solving in such a fun and corporative way! Sharing car stories as Alex (the athletic, witty, and kind older brother) who was successfully getting his next level driver's licence. Having education conversations with Julie and learning more about business from requirements to stories of how operations work in a school setting- this experience came at a time where I felt my value was appreciated, encouraged, and honored. For the activities I did and how my day went, the only difference was my start time in the morning was later on their break ( their family was entering March break, so I had the chance to see both school and holiday routines). During school, I typically got up early to make breakfast - I loved cooking for their family, I made so many recipes both ones from my traditions to new dishes - and than worked on organizing drawers, cabinets, kids room, yard work such as racking up sticks, working on planting in the garden beds, making dinner, and helping keep the place tidy. I always enjoyed hanging out with the kids too - collecting sea shells, water balloons, baking/cooking, trampoline challenge. Julie is such a kind, excellent communicator, laid back, caring person, if I had any questions or suggestions she was happy to help me better understand or clarify. My day was flexible in how and when I wanted to do the work and my approach for doing the tasks - if I needed a break I was able to take one, and there was always time to get tasks done or continue the next day. She also allowed me the chance to take on a leadership role- where she trusted my decisions, taste, and ideas to implement what I thought would be best. This experience grew my confidence in so many ways from connecting with the kids to putting my ideas in action, it was so cool to watch myself grow into who I want to become - though it was only simple household helping, it had such value for me, it gave me the chance to have time for breakthrus to emerge for my art business and school idea to come thru, recognizing different views in the process, and having quality connected storytelling with her whole family. I absolutely loved getting to know everyone and truly their beautiful island and will continue to stay in touch - this whole experience summed up what I have been working towards and for - bringing joy back to life and learning by aligning values with passion, purpose and connection. I would recommend this workaway to anyone who is interested in being 2 min from the ocean, in a charming outskirt rural but town area, with a charming cabin of your own while having the opportunity to help with household tasks, for a delightful, sweet, and storyfilled family - it was truly a honor to have this opportunity.

I had a truly wonderful time staying with Gordon and Judy. From the very beginning, they welcomed me with so much warmth and kindness that I quickly felt like part of the family. The work was varied and rewarding, including construction, gardening, and all sorts of different tasks around the house depending on what was needed. Having a dip in the pool after work to cool off was a big plus and enjoying organic, healthy food, fresh from their own garden. I learned a lot during my time working with Gordon, who is not only a great builder and hard worker, but also a wonderful company to chat with in between jobs. He has so many great stories. Judy is simply the loveliest person: a brilliant thinker, passionate, and with a wonderfully refreshing sense of humor. I will always remember our conversations during breakfast, dinner, and the quiet moments we shared throughout the day. Life in the house was made even more special by all the other members of the household too: the dogs, the cats, the ducks, goats, sheep, chickens, and especially the two lovely pigs, Mr. Joe and Piggy Sue, whom I completely fell in love with. They all brought so much character and joy to the experience. Sometimes you begin a Workaway expecting to help out, travel, and have a good experience — and then you meet people who leave a much deeper mark on your life. I honestly could not have asked for a better experience, and I hope to have the chance to visit them again soon.

We really enjoyed having Hayley stay to help out with our tiny house project. Friendly, chatty and with lots of stories to share, and curiosity about other people. She was a nice presence to have around at home, and was a tidy and very considerate house guest. Hayley was keen to learn new skills, was happy to get on with the various tasks we asked her to help with, and manages her time well. She got on well with the other Workawayer we had staying. She also cooked us a meal one night, which was really nice, and brought a lovely enthusiasm to our evening music jam sessions :)

Me and Malina got to experience our first time in Japan with a very unique and heart-warming family, consisting of Jerry and Imelda with their two young boys. The boys were incredibly smart and fun to work with, what surprised me was that there was no language barrier between us from the start. Breaking the ice with both of them wasn't easy at first, since they had very different personalities. While James was more on the quieter and shyer side, Phillip was a confident spirit for himself. Though both warmed up to us so quickly it felt like we were taking care of younger siblings. We had fun all around in Japan, starting with Osaka, where we moved throughout Kyoto and Kanazawa to finally get to Tokyo, where our journey ended. From having fun in Universal studios, relaxing in an onsen, playing games, exploring the traditional side of Japan, to trying new delicious foods - it was an unforgettable experience. I've rarely seen so much in nine days - of course, moving around so much was a bit tiring, but it was really worth it in the end! True to their profile, the family was very generous and kind-hearted. We truly felt taken care of and after a short time of knowing each other, it surprisingly felt less like looking after the boys, and more like a family trip. Thank you so much for this experience, we hope to see you again! :)

I stayed and worked with them for 1 week and I really liked them . The hostel location in city center and close to many important place like Night Market , Phousi Hill or many temple . They were nice , kind and helpful to me . It was really good experience for me . Also I mostly liked family dinner activity , 3 days in a week they have family dinner activity with guests from 3 different hostels . Thank you and I wish see again them .

Kestrel and Allyson were fabulous. Their cooking almost converted us. Truly, they are the best cooks and served us some absolutely delicious vegan meals. Their orange tofu was our favourite. They were fun to have in the house and were able to entertain themselves easily, but also engaged in thoughtful conversation. They completed all tasks such as housework and gardening well and we would definitely recommend them to any future hosts. They are delightful.

Sid was the best. He was such a delight to have in our home and we truly missed him when was gone. He’s the best cook. We have had good cooks in the past, but he surpassed them all with his tasty slow cooked meals. Sid’s spuds are still on our menu. He did gardening work and also some building and completed those tasks well. But most of all he is just one gem of a human being and we would definitely recommend him to any future host.

Ariel was our first volunteer who came from Chile, and it was truly a wonderful experience hosting him. Along with helping in household tasks, he also spent quality time working with the children. He made a special effort to connect with Pintu, and it was heartwarming to see their bond grow. Even though there was a language barrier between them, Ariel managed it very well with the help of translation tools and his genuine willingness to communicate. We really appreciate his patience, dedication, and positive attitude throughout his stay. He brought great energy and kindness to our space, which made a meaningful impact on the children. We would be more than happy to host Ariel again in the future and wish him all the very best for his journey ahead.

Eunice was of great help in the kids' academic field, she was always ready to help whenever the kids approach her. They had a very happy and memorable time spent together. As educators, we got got lots of common topics to chat and exchange. It was a great and valuable time that was full of new view and laughter as well. I wish that we will continue this bonding in the future.

Sara was a delightful person to have in our home. She contributed to our house in the loveliest way … sensitive and thoughtful of others and happy to engage in meaningful conversations. She was happy to do any work given and completed same competently. She cleaned, weeded, did general gardening jobs and also did some building work. I would definately recommend her to other hosts.

Vanessa is a fabulous person to hang out with. She is easy going, enthusiastic and a hard worker. Her English is absolutely perfect. She was very intuitive, able to understand complex situations and even helped me problem solve. Vanessa was genuinely interested and cared about the work and our family. I highly recommend her for any situation within or beyond her skill set.

I stayed for 2 weeks with Robin and Grant! Robin and Grant were amazing hosts, and they really made me feel welcome when I arrived. The work was great, with weeding, mulching, walking the dogs, and helping build a verandah; it was 'quick results' type of work, which made it satisfying. I learned a few new things too! We also went into Bellingen and Urunga, which were very charming towns! I recommend Grant and Robin as hosts on WorkAway; they were so sweet and kind!

J’ai passé deux semaines en tant que fille au pair dans cette famille et ça a été une très belle expérience. Saki et Stéphane sont très accueillants et généreux, ils ont toujours fait attention au fait que je ne manque de rien. Aussi, j’avais ma propre chambre qui était très confortable. Ils ont été de bon conseils sur les choses à faire à Tokyo et aux alentours. J’ai également eu l’occasion de rencontrer des amis de la famille, ce qui a été une belle expérience. Mon rôle dans la famille consistait principalement à emmener les filles à l’école, aller les chercher, et passer du temps avec elles en fin de journée. Les deux filles sont très attachantes, nous avons joué ensemble dans l’appartement ou au parc à côté, lu des livres, sommes allées à l’escalade, au restaurant avec toute la famille, … Et à côté de ça, j’ai eu beaucoup de temps libre pour explorer la ville de mon côté. Ça a été une expérience géniale qui m’a permit d'etre immergée et de connaître davantage la culture Japonaise. Je recommande totalement! Merci à eux de m’avoir accueilli, j’espère les revoir une prochaine fois!

We had such a wonderful experience staying with Graeme and Lynne. They are incredibly warm and welcoming people who made us feel at home from the very beginning. The accommodation was absolutely lovely – a beautiful, cozy little house, thoughtfully and lovingly furnished, with everything you could possibly need. It really felt like a home away from home. The work was clearly explained and well-organized, which made everything easy and enjoyable. On top of that, we shared some truly great moments together – lovely evenings, delicious meals, and even a great evening out at the pub. We’re very grateful for this experience and would highly recommend staying with them! Thanks a lot for everything!!!!

I had a great experience hosting David and Manuel. They were kind, talented, and very easy to have around. They worked independently and with great initiative, showing strong practical skills. One of their main contributions was building a beautiful wardrobe using treated wood I already had — a solid and well-crafted piece that I truly appreciated. They also had a lovely, sensitive way of relating to the animals, and their experience (especially with goats) was very valuable. Beyond the work, they brought a lot of joy to the place. They are excellent musicians, and it was a real pleasure both having music at home and going to listen to them during jam sessions. Overall, they created a very positive atmosphere and were a pleasure to host. I highly recommend them to any host and would happily welcome them back anytime.

Ella stood out as an incredibly positive and enthusiastic volunteer. She has a genuine love for animals and showed great care and affection toward all the creatures on the farm. Her warm and friendly personality made her very approachable, and she got along harmoniously with both the team and other volunteers. Ella was always proactive, eager to take initiative, and worked with high energy and responsibility. Joshua - He was highly proactive, positive, and got along exceptionally well with all the volunteers. His friendly and approachable nature helped create a harmonious and supportive atmosphere where everyone felt comfortable and motivated. Joshua was also very organized, skilled at assigning tasks clearly and fairly, ensuring that all activities ran smoothly without any major issues. Together as a couple, Ella and Joshua complemented each other beautifully. Their dedication, positive spirit, and strong teamwork made a significant and positive impact on the farm. We are truly grateful for their valuable contribution and the wonderful support they provided to the farm during their time here. We wholeheartedly recommend Ella and Joshua to any farm or organization looking for dedicated, responsible, and uplifting volunteers. They would be a fantastic addition to any team, whether working together or individually.

Lovely girls who taught me more about Japanese culture and etiquette. They are the best ironers I’ve ever seen! We had a lovely time and they both were very flexible and tried lots of new things with a lot of courage and enthusiasm. I would highly recommend them to any host.
