Description
Currently we are doing Travel Workaways where we go a new destination and explore together. Our travel is usually pretty fun, doing lots of activities, trying different food, checking out new places, new experiences and more.

LATEST UPDATE:
Every one of our trips is never the same, we are always trying out different style of travel and different approach to travel. We got many testimonial videos from our previous Workawayers and you can also read the feedbacks below to better understand our Workaways.

Our Upcoming Workaway Location and Duration:

2nd week of June 2026: Island holiday adventure (2-3 weeks)
- Definitely gonna be another exciting adventure, especially with the right volunteers
- Great locations, each volunteer can stay at her own dorm and many activities to do
- Language learning with international students, technology, music, calligraphy and so on
- Surfing, sailing, yachting, sports, theme park and more
- Multiple volunteers can join, we will structure this Workaway differently

2nd week of March 2027: Japan Onsen and Ski (2 weeks)
- Preferably volunteers with some ski or snowboarding background so she can help with those.

- Please describe your skill sets and interests, so we can better tailor our Workaway for you.
- Each one of our Workaway is quite different and is quite an achievement in its own way.

- And if you have not even spent a lot of times with children
- And do not genuinely enjoy spending time with them
- Then probably we are not a good fit, and we are only recruiting the right ones.

We are based in Medan. Medan is a cool city to check out authentic local culture in Indonesia. There is almost no tourist here. Kualanamu airport KNO is the main entry point to Sumatra, sixth largest island in the world with interesting places such as Bukit Lawang (Orang Utan), Lake Toba (the world largest volcanic lake), Nias (surfing) and more. Great to explore Sumatra first, before going on to Jakarta, Java, Bali, Lombok, Raja Ampat and more.

I did a workaway for 2 weeks with Jerry and his family in UAE. It was a bit tiring (10-12 hours a day) but a great experience! I was babysitting his two boys: Philip and James, 3 and 5 years old. Both kids are very sweet, smart and sociable. I just loved the time spent with them. Both kids are quite independent (can use the bathroom on their own,… read more tie their shoes etc...) Despite the similaries they are quite different from each other. Philip, the younger kid, is more playful. He is more into games that require energy. He is more easygoing, emotional (stops crying as soon as he starts it) but a bit more selfish. He is more vibrant and displays his leadership skills more vividly. He is also easier to pursuade into smth. (for ex: it is possible to pursuade him that it is okay for him to give away the toy that his older brother needs now while at times it is almost impossible to pursude James to give away his toy to Philip) James on the other hand is more sensitive, more of an introvert and into intellectual games. He doesn't start crying easily but if he does it is painfully hard to make him stop crying even after he gets what he wants.
I think i did a great job in babysitting them as I feel that at the beginning of my workaway experience they both used to cry more often. After a week or so they became more playful (possibly due to the time spent playing with both) and remained more peaceful. Originally, my workaway was supposed to last 2 weeks but Jerry cut it short for a couple of days as kids were doing pretty good without me by then. Also one tip: if you are planning on doing an acitivity I would recommend either everyone be involved including Imenda & Jerry or if Imenda is busy than just you and the kids. When I was on my own with the kids they never cried and were very much engaged into the process. But if Jerry was there they would always ask for Imenda as well. If she is nearby it's ok but if she is far finding her first would be your goal :)
Kids eat a lot of fast food as well as Jerry and Imenda but fortunately, drink mainly still water. Part of the struggle for me (as someone into healthy diet) was consuming fast food everyday and sometimes 3 times a day. Other than, I had an amazing experience as this was my first time as a workaway volunteer. Miss the kids and often think about them. I am pretty sure though that with Jerry and Imenda's efforts (who do all their best to make sure that kids have everything they need) they will have a happy and fulfilling life.
