Shane came to stay with me for 2 weeks and was absolutely wonderful. He has an excellent work ethic, initiative and always completed the jobs he had to do thoroughly. Even though some of the jobs he was asked to do were a bit boring or tedious he still did them without comment and to a high standard. We shared many meals and laughs together and I found him to be an honest and genuine person who was also very thoughtful and caring. There was always great communication and questions were asked if clarity was needed which ensured that boundaries and lifestyle ways were not compromised. Shane was great to have around, eager to learn and expand his horizons. I wish him lots of luck and fun on his future adventures and travels and wish him all the best for his future endeavours. I would 100% recommend Shane for any future workaway positions he might apply for.

Emma and Elsa were an absolute pleasure to host. Two very polite, well mannered and extremely capable young women. They did above what I expected and such a thorough job helping with some window and glass cleaning our home. I’d highly recommend the girls.

Anouk came to stay with me for a week and she was wonderful. We worked together on some small projects but she was also perfectly able and comfortable to work on her own and importantly take some initiative when needed. We shared meals and conversations together and I found her to be a very genuine person, kind, helpful and with a big heart. She was clean and respectful of house rules and boundaries. I wish her all the luck and fun as she continues her travels and hopefully get to visit her and her family some day. I highly recommend Anouk for any future workaway positions she applies for in the future.

Arnaud stayed with us for two months and during this time he became a truly valuable part of our team. He is a wonderful person and we will sincerely miss his big smile, his kindness and his respectful attitude towards everyone. He was always willing to help and quietly did so many things on his own initiative, never asking for anything in return. Whenever it was needed, he would take our dogs to the veterinarian and bring them safely back to the shelter by himself. He cared deeply for them and loved taking them on long walks, giving them the attention and affection they deserve. Arnaud also worked hard to improve our shelter. He organized and repaired several areas, fixed damaged dog houses and built comfortable beds from wooden pallets that he personally transported. He even brought single mattresses himself so the dogs could have warmer and more comfortable places to rest. Our dogs definitely miss him very much, and so do we. Through his love, patience and the special care he showed to them, he reminded us how meaningful this work is. He promised us that he will come back, and we truly hope he will. We are all waiting for him in Andros. Not only the volunteers of the Animal Welfare Association, but also many people in Chora came to know him during his stay. We hope that he also had a beautiful time on our island, just as we were lucky to have him with us. Arnaud will always be welcome here. Thank you Arnaud for being who you are and for coming to our island.

Hans and Catharina are such nice, warm and inspirational people with so many different experiences from their lives. They are knowledgeable, thoughtful and welcoming. Staying at their place is a great experience allowing you to learn from them and getting to know them while also being in such a harmonious environment. The island is absolutely beautiful and gives you an authentic experience of different ways of living in Sweden. It's peaceful with a nice small community on the island, a small shop, many possibilities for new experiences and good boatconnections with the mainland. If you like warm conversations, harmony, the sea, nature, good food, organic, and inspiration then this is the place for you!

It was truly amazing having Anna & Johanna with me; they are two very young girls but with considerable maturity. They are capable of managing their time, motivated, and created a very positive energy during their experience. It was a great pleasure having them with me, and I highly recommend. I wish them good luck in their lives.

Hugo was a great help to us and we really appreciated all his efforts. He was a polite and clean house quest very respectful of our home and of our tools etc. Hugo helped with many tasks, he was flexible and had a good range of skills. He painted, strimmed, cut the hedge and planted trees. We also installed kitchen units including the worktops. The work was physical and at times dirty!! I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Hugo as a workawayer. He would be an asset to any host. Happy travels Hugo and many thanks 👍

If you want to sense and experience the cultural vibes of Thessaloniki, Evita is the perfect host. I spent a month helping her out and this woman is really an amazing human being and a wonderful mother. I loved to spend time with her, her daughter and take care of her dogs. The tasks were all interesting and nice. Her place is next to everything. The flat where I stayed opens the doors to Greek present food culture. You must experience the Saturday market. During my free time I experienced the seafront park architecture, some beaches, a huge demonstration, thermal spa and a hamami. In Thessaloniki you can shop forever anything. There is live culture, creativity and lots of interesting places and architecture. Thank you Evita for everything. I miss your daughter, the dogs and your creativity and inspirational character.

Marine surprised me, i was worried to have her stay at the farm because i was away for a lot of the time and there were no other volunteers. but she loved that and stayed for three weeks, painted a whole building and also helped out with general tasks with the farm workers. everyone was very impressed by her. she is somone to give a task to and let her figure it out, if she likes it she will be there all day and wont stop untill its done. A perfect volunteer!

The Guardians family who live in the farm realy loved having them stay also and the kids were very sad to see them leave. i enjoyed there company they are intelligent and independant and appreciative.

Zoe was such a pleasure to have around, she really inspired me with cooking and made us an absolutly fabulous fishing net that has proved to be absolutely essential in the aquaculture system. She didnt like the heat too much but she still managed to make herself useful. independent and self reliant i highley reccomend her.

I went to Egypt for a month to go to Zeinab's and to explore the ancient sites. This was my first Workaway experience. At the end of my week with Zeinab I had the sense that, "THIS was why I came to Egypt!" To experience life as it really is here for a relatively young woman, an insightful, educated, intellectual, woman who lives in a traditional area, in an appartment in need of some repair, in an old building, and whose lifestyle and choices are constrained by her culture and her nationality. Zeinab welcomed me into her life, and carefully explained how everything worked in the flat. She took me to her wonderful local Tuesday market just outside her building with live chicks, ducklings and baby rabbits and Zeinab carefully selected from the many growers sitting on blankets who brought their vegetables to sell. I joined her and her niece and nephew most afternoons for an outing to the Corniche on the Nile embankment, and we played with them at home too. We hung over the balcony with tenderness together to watch the children getting onto their father's motorbike to go home at bedtime. We made some time each day to work on Zeinab's prounciation of English and also spent many hours speaking about our lives and experiences. This speaking also indicated to me where help was needed. It was touching to be able to share so deeply together in such a short time. Zeinab supported me to go out and about by myself. She gave me a few words of Arabic to go shopping with, and was up for letting me cook my hard-won purchases in her kitchen for us. One morning I went to the iconic Luxor Temple and one evening I went to visit the excellent Luxor Museum. I could have used the washing machine, but chose to wash things by hand as I went along and hang them on the balcony to quickly dry in the warmth. I began to feel very at home there and I was sad to leave after the week. I hope we meet again . We may even do a Workaway together next year!

Elia! Thank you so much for the help in our project - and your friendship and always good and positive energy in our little family! We have been very fond to host Elia as a volunteer and a permaculture learner! He is truly an unique person with such a wide-spreading energy leaving our other volunteers with laughter's and smile and no work being boring! More than that Elia is a hardworking person and with a lot of independency and autonomy he took initiative to get task done - even if it required working in his afternoon (free time)! He is a strong person capable of doing hard physical work, he is a silent artist and a very good painter who indeed gave new colors and beautiful art to our place and then lastly he is a warm hearted person making the social side of the project very easy and harmoniously. We can surely recommend hosting Elia!

Our experience hosting Rish was very good! He is very hardworking and made in few weeks a big impact on our land improving our soil and our compost system. Truly a person with a lot of motivation, energy, independency and inspiration to jump into any task including the improvement of permacultural regenerative systems - Rish even worked in his "free-time" and is simply passionated about organic food production and sustainability. Thank you for you warm heart and the help you gave us in the project!

Valerie and Philipp are both incredible and kind people who I was blessed to spend two weeks with. They made me feel right at home by always being hospitable and making sure I was comfortable. The food was amazing and nutritious and the work was very rewarding to do without feeling overwhelming. The kids were also all super engaging and a joy to interact with. Thank you guys so much for the nice time and best wishes and blessings with everything!

Heike and Kees were a wonderful couple to have with us. They stayed with us for two weeks, and it felt very natural and cozy together. Heike did a beautiful job mosaicing the pool and grouting the mosaic floors. She did it very neatly and with great care. Kees also made a new door for the sheep and built a beautiful stone bench that will withstand all weather conditions. They are both very handy and happy to contribute ideas. For example, Kees also built a brand new duck enclosure from two wooden crates. We also really appreciated how involved they were in daily life here. They always helped after dinner and sometimes even continued with the work—even though they didn't have to. They just did it because they enjoy being busy. We also shared many wonderful moments: eating pancakes together, gazing into the fire at the new fireplace, and visiting the local lumber yard together. They were also open to trying new things, like kefir. Heike and Kees are incredibly sweet, caring, and warm people. They're exactly the kind of people you'd love to have around you. We look back on their stay with fond memories and hope our paths cross again someday.

We are Claudia (71) and Ingolf (75) from Berlin-Germany, we stayed 14 days with Maria Jesú, Jota y sus hijas Ayla y Aurora en Mantagua, febrero 2026. We worked a lot in their beautiful garden, what we really liked to do. After work we could use the swimming-pool while Maria prepared a good lunch for all of us. We had a spicy barbecue with the neighbours and got to know a lot of sisters and nephews of the family muy amable. On Sunday we made a trip with family and friends to the inmigration museum in Valparaiso. We highy recommend the family.
