    Description

    Hello!
We are a married couple who have a wonderful and remote home on the Sunshine Coast, BC. I (Glennis) am a multidisciplinary artist and avid walker of the local forests. My husband, Dan, is a retired teacher (as am I) with a penchant for sharing culture and conversation.
Our off-grid home has been going for 25 years, and requires maintenance, from painting and cleaning, to landscaping and carpentry.
We'd like to welcome individuals who have an interest in connecting with us and the natural surroundings. We live in a beautiful and private area which is within a small yet friendly community.

We can offer an insight into off-grid living. We have a small veggie garden, and occasionally forage for mushrooms when the time is right. We also enjoy chatting, playing games, listening to music and meeting new people.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have a spare bedroom upstairs, kitted out with fresh sheets and towels.

Workawayers will be able to stay in a private bedroom upstairs, kitted out with towels and bedding. Being off-grid means electricity is very limited, so we don't tend to put the generator on unless we are playing games and need to see. We can provide you with a torch at night to assist with getting round the house.

Regarding food, I cook homemade soups and other fresh foods on a daily basis, such as bread!

We have running water but limited electricity which runs off a battery and generator.

Breakfast consists of yogurt, homemade granola and fruit (often locally foraged or grown). Toast and condiments is available too.
Lunch is dependent on the weather/season. In the cooler months, homemade soups with home-baked bread or crackers with cheese, veggies and cold meats. In the warmer months, we have lots of salads and picnic-style food.
Dinner varies and can consist of seafood, meat, pies, etc.
If someone is vegetarian, we are able to cater for you.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Our off-grid home has different watersport activities. We have a stand-up paddleboard, a canoe and a dock which is suitable for you to swim off of.
We see a variety of wildlife, such as whales, seals, otters, sea lions, elk and lots of birds.
It is very serene here, any time of the year.
We love reading and have plenty of books for you to enjoy if you like to read.
I (Glennis) go walking on a daily basis, so you're more than welcome to join me!

There is no readily accessible transport to any towns, shops or amenities. We are only accessible by boat. Saying this, if you stay with us, we will come and collect you Egmont.

Preferably, we do not want workawayers who smoke and we are a drug and alcohol-free household.
