    Description

Namaste! Greetings from Nepal. Workawayers who are interested working with children at school and helping to learn English language and culture are welcome. I especially like to collaborate and host those volunteers who have a passion for teaching and working with kids embedding sustainable learning with current methodology and technology in teaching/learning. Moreover, the children who were deprived of learning during COVID-19 are facing challenges to come up with their curriculum specifically math science, and English language. We would like to enhance classroom-based collaborative projects with international partner schools and build up strong international relations with partner schools developing global citizenship . The schools are run from elementary level to grade 12. We have mixed-gender school situated in Lumbini Province where the schools are supporting children from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. We would be highly grateful to work with such volunteers who would encourage and help our students/ teachers improve their English language learning & cultural exchange with mutual respect. We equally adore the skills of volunteers who can train or teach the use of ICT in learning, dance, or music including the interpersonal skills of children. The volunteers can have an opportunity to immerse themselves in local culture, language, and typical indigenous food.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

They can enjoy our indigenous food, and music, learn art and craft, exchange culture, observe local fairs, and have frequent indigenous typical community visits. They can learn our typical indigenous ethnic culture, their traditions & values. Moreover, one can get benefit from the different local fairs and folk dances and costumes. they can be benefited from studying the culture of local people, their lifestyle, and the impact of modernism in their culture. Sometimes with the reliable safety of volunteers, we also manage host families where the volunteer can spend nights learning a lot about Nepali family culture and system. So, there will be abundant opportunities to learn and share with a volunteer. On the other hand frequent visits to local cultural heritages and natural sites, trekking to nearby mountains with students and school staff, organizing community camp/picnic and doing social service and understanding the community, etc. However, during a bit longer holidays ( more than 3/4 days) they can go for the famous Annapurna Himalayas Circuit trekking, Muktinath temple, Lumbini ( birthplace of Lord Buddha), Sworgadwari temple situated at the hilltop ( known as door to heaven), Rara lake, Phewa lake, Typical Community home stay visit. Bardiya Wildlife Reserve, Khapad National Park, etc. which are under easy access ( Approximately 3 to 8 hrs drive)
On the other hand, a work away can get the opportunity to learn/share our teaching-learning system with all age groups children, large classroom management, teaching in a large classroom, interaction with a diverse group of students, etc. Also one can feel, how we treat a volunteer as a guest in our culture. We believe and behave guests as God with great honor and give all kinds of respect & privileges.

    Help

We are looking for volunteers in any one of the fields mentioned above to support our students' English language, math, and science in meaningful learning. One who can support our classroom-based projects learning on global learning curricula and exchanging our practices. We are also looking for innovation and use of technology in the classroom and outside the classroom activities and develop good relations with international communities and help improve the quality of our education system. Moreover, a volunteer can help our students and institute to bring creativity and innovation by integrating 21st-century core skills ( embedding sustainable development goals SDGs of UNO) among the students.
We expect volunteers to help our teaching staff to improve their teaching strategies and leave a good impact on the teachers & students. The volunteers do not necessarily be confined to assigned academic tasks, they can teach or train or help our teachers & students with other activities like dancing, sports, singing, music, art & drawing, organizing community camps, art & creativity, Eco- project, etc. The school can happily support the volunteers with due respect for their innovative project or event they plan after observing the existing situation in our context.
Because of the COVID-19 school closure, many children were left behind in learning opportunities and they are incompetent with the course and curriculum. We specifically like to enhance their learning mainly in science, math, and English language which are considered to be the major subjects in our context. If the volunteer likes to work away for those poor children s/he can stay longer and contribute to being a philanthropist.

We prefer language & cultural exchange volunteers with their sustainable contributions to teachers, children, and schools. We would like to welcome those generous people who would like to contribute to destitute and orphanage children since we have some children in different schools from the same background. We would highly appreciate the volunteers' legacy that they leave as an impact while staying at school.

A shared restroom, bathroom, or sometimes if a single volunteer is hosted can be used as a private bathroom. The volunteers won't have to cook any food ( but can learn/teach or enjoy cooking if they are fond of cooking), it will be prepared in the hostel kitchen and will have the food in the mess as we have residential students too. However, if a volunteer makes an order for a special type of food other than prepared in the kitchen, they will have to pay an extra charge for the special order. A volunteer has to do washings on his/her own. One can get a laundry facility nearby if required.

On off days the volunteer can have a trip to local cultural sites or can go sightseeing as this region is full of flora & fauna, surrounded by high hills/mountains. There are temples, historical places, heritages, and national parks. rivers fall, resorts, pubs, and typical ethnic groups homestays where you can visit and enjoy on your own, or we can provide a guide to help you if needed. You can use buses, cars, auto-rickshaws, etc for traveling to local sites.
