We had a wonderful experience hosting Shekel through Workaway. She did an amazing job helping build our earth oven, and the result turned out really beautiful. Her work was thoughtful and careful, and she clearly put genuine effort into making it strong and functional. Aside from her skills, Shekel was very friendly, kind, and easy to be around. She brought a positive energy to our place and got along well with everyone. What we appreciated most was her common sense and readiness to help in any situation. Whether it was with the project or daily tasks around the farm, she was always willing to step in and support where needed. She helped us very much in setting up our website, something we will not forget, that she started our website. She was also there to help with our less than a year old baby. With harvesting fruits like cashew, she was there. She helped us in the garden. We would say that she is an all-rounder. She also did not push her opinions with any topics eventhough we had other workawayers with different perspective on lifestyles and things. We are truly grateful for her contribution to our farmstay and would happily recommend her to other hosts. Shekel will always be welcome back here anytime.

Cormac was here with our family for About 2.weeks. we underestand us well and He help me with some work around house and in garden as well in house too.With him was ok to spend evenings together with tea and interesting conversation. We like history together and we find lot of to talk about. He also have nice comunication with our children.We wish all good to him and lot of good choice in life a special to find what is true and where he can find real satisfaction .Cormac.you can come again and we can talk more about Izrael from where our Savior come..je I know that you canot come in your life no more in that land..but still we have lot of to talk.All good to you! If you get the chance, stay with this family! From the very first moment I arrived, they welcomed me with kindness and truly made me feel like part of their family. I helped with household, laundry and cooking. The tasks were fair, and while the kids were in school, I had plenty of free time in the mornings and afternoons. The kids are great—well behaved, full of energy, and always up for fun. From Nerf gun fights and Mario Kart to board games and building snowmen, we shared many fun moments. I’m also very grateful for the cozy evenings, conversations, cooking together, and the adventures we had. I had my own quiet private room, and the house is close to coffee shops, grocery stores, and a mall in walking distance. There’s also a bus stop just 2 minutes away that goes straight to Quebec City. Thank you for this wonderful experience and for helping me improve my French. I’m very grateful for the time with you and hope to see you again someday! 😊

I had a great time at Gabriela's house! In the morning we were doing various tasks (nothing too hard) and from lunch it was a free time, so I could do whatever I want. House is on the hill and you have beautiful sea view there, so it was a very inspirational time. The place is perfect for artistic people, you will have a great time doing music, drawimg or writing here. It was never boring in the house as Gabriela is a very pleasant, smart, funny and humorous person. We had a lot of talks and laughters by the dinner table. I really appreciate the time I spent here. It was a good and productive time for my writings and also a nice rest and and stop before travelling. I definitely enjoyed it here

What a beautiful people in a beautiful place! I spent over two weeks with Elena and Avishai in may 2025. I slept in caravan, ate most delicious food, had endless conversations and met a lot of people (friends and visitors included). I enjoyed everyday walks down to the river and most beautiful sunsets, took care of the garden and place - the soil and the animals, we also created in that time a small space full of mirrors that looked like from „Alice in wonderland” book. I had a lot of fun and i learned a lot. Elena and Avishai are good people with beautiful energy and idea of the way they want to live their life. They are generous and full of knowledge and passion. I still carry amazing memories from our time and wish to come back one day! Big hugs, dear people!

I had a really great experience staying with Clare and her family. From the first day, both Clare and her mum were incredibly kind and welcoming, and they always made me feel comfortable and at home. Jazzy is a lovely baby and very easy to take care of. The house is beautiful and very comfortable, and Clare cooks really well — always healthy and varied meals, and she always takes you into account. They give you a lot of independence, but at the same time they are always open to spending time together if you feel like it. They offer a lot of help and support whenever you need it. The work is easy to manage and you have plenty of free time. The area is very quiet and beautiful, perfect if you enjoy nature and spending time with animals. The house is in a quiet rural area. If you have your own car it’s easier to get around, otherwise you’ll need to plan with the buses. Overall, I’m very grateful for this experience and I would definitely recommend this family to other volunteers.

Martina stayed with us 5 days. it was such a good experience! She is a great cook and she made delicious dishes. She helped me a lot in the house. We had really good fun together. She is a happy, sociable person. I'm so happy to have met her! She was really part of the family! She came a day in my school, did a powerpoint presentation to my pupils. They really liked her and her energy! Thank you so much Martina!

It was great to have Drew around, he didn't have much experience with maintenance , but he was always with a smile and great disposition to learn , we highly recommend him

Amazing place and amazing people. I volunteered for just over 1 month, doing work in reception and general maintenance of the jam space and the rental rooms. There is a clear timetable of when you need to work, so you know when you have free time. Every Tuesday there is the Jam, which is an incredible mix of musicians and instruments, the vibe/atmosphere is great with a good mix of local people and internationals. If you play and instrument/sing, this is a great place to explore that if you are new or experienced. I learned so much from this inviting place about music. The team of Gigo, Imke, and Andres are very receptive of feedback and take on what the volunteers provide. The space is always growing, it was a pleasure to be a part of it for a short time.

Our stay with Agnete was fantastic and totally immersive. The welcome was warm from the moment we arrived, Agnete's instructions are clear, the work has flexible hours and for those who want to learn about Norwegian culture and enjoy outdoor experiences, this is the place to be. We had experiences that will remain in our hearts forever, such as swimming in the frozen lake, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and even a dog sled ride. We can only thank her for everything. Dominic is a probably the most clean and tidy Workawayer that we have ever hosted. He treated his living space with the utmost respect. Apart from that he also is a very kind and sweet spirit, lovely to have around. During the time he was with us, we had a period of extreme and torrential rains, so we mostly worked inside the house, did some repair jobs and redecorating. He was a great help at any task you asked him to do. Would not hesitate a second if he wanted to stay again.

Vladi is a very nice guy. He's a big help when he was with us, he not only helped with teaching but also helped me with looking after my dog which giving me some more times to spend with other things. Vladi also helped to look after the house and willing to help with other things if I asked for. He's good with kids and the schools really liked him, they felt sad when he left. He's always welcome back to stay with us.

We had an amazing stay with Caesar at the surf house! He welcomed us with open arms and treated us like part of his family. We were warmed by the wholesome family environment. The locals were super friendly too and we went out one night to a mini carnival ! He gave us a lesson in surfing which was super useful! If your wanting to surf this is the place for you. Onlg a five minute walk from the beach with waves you can ride all day on. He has impeccable knowledge and experience of waves so id definitely recommend doing a lesson with him too. He"ll even direct you where is best to surf when you've got the hang of it! It's been a super fun time and we couldn't reccomend Caesar more. Go and experience surf life at Huanchacao for yourselves, what you waiting for!

We have hosted Lucia and Gaston for over one month in February and early March and can say they were real angels to us. Reliable, smart minds, happy to help and quick to do. We first let them alone in our house while we were having a short vacation; Lucia could comply with urgency and was able to solve a big problem in the village were we live; they looked after our zoo and home in a perfect manner. Gaston is a brilliant mind and and has two hands capable of doing anything: from repairing fences to cooking, through gardening, pruning, chopping wood, lighting fires, insulating doors, walking the dogs, and feeding the animals. Lucia is a cheerful, outgoing, very responsible, and meticulous girl. She helped me a lot with cleaning the house, organizing my domestic (and mental!) chaos, caring for the animals, and so many other things. Lucia and Gaston are a truly beautiful, friendly, intelligent, and communicative couple; we had the chance to chat and speak about our respective countries. They are cultured, curious, understanding, and empathetic. In a month, we created a family bond, as the workaway philosophy should. We miss them greatly and hope they return, but we're happy to have had this wonderful, enriching experience. Have a great life, guys, and see you soon!

I had a wonderful time staying with Roman ,Tereza, Rozi, and Viki. They welcomed me very warmly and made me feel comfortable from the first day, almost like part of the family. Roman and Tereza taught me many things about Czech culture, and I really enjoyed learning about daily life in the Czech Republic. They even prepared traditional Czech food for me, which was a great experience. They were always kind and thoughtful, and they supported me when I wasn’t feeling well, which I really appreciated. The work was simple and clearly explained, so it was easy to understand what to do. They were always patient and helpful, which made the experience very comfortable. Spending time with Rozi and Viki was also very special. Playing with them was always fun and brought a lot of happiness to my days. Time passed very quickly because every day was enjoyable. Because of this experience, I came to really like the Czech Republic. If I have the chance, I would love to visit again in the future. Thank you again for everything. Kim & Michael are absolute gems. Hard working, capable, enthusiastic and always smiling, they have been a huge help in the time they spent with us in Crete, much appreciated, thank you guys!

If you ever get the chance to host Angela, consider yourself extremely fortunate! She's a whirlwind of productivity, as evidenced by her impressive work ethic! She painted the home, she helped put together furniture I had shipped to the island, weeded and performed other jobs. All in all, she is an amazing person!

I spend 3,5 weeks at the village in January-February. I was teaching at the school where about 100 kids attend school. I was teaching primary 3 and 4, mainly English and Social studies. I enjoyed the teaching and the kids were eager to learn. I did experience that their level was very low. Some kids could not even read, while that is one of the basic skills kids need to learn when they are young. It did give me motivation to really teach them some of the basics. During breaks I always was hanging out with the kids which was really enjoyable. At first the kids were very shy but after a while they became really interested in me and it was lots of fun spending time with them! The hut where I stayed at was really comfortable. I enjoyed having a private space. Next to that, there was a bathroom with a flushing toilet and a shower. My compliments to Margaret, who prepared all meals for me. Only the portions were a little bit small sometimes. After school I spend time with the four lovely kids who live in the village. This I really enjoyed and over time we became very good friends. We played games, watched movies, made photos and videos and watered the vegetable garden. I am going to miss you, Abraham, Irene, Milani and Rebecca! What I didn't really like was how the four kids were controlled by their parents. Salumba explained me it is their culture but in my opinion it is too harsh. All the time when I wanted to do an activity or wanted to give the children something, permission of the parents was required. Even a biscuit they would reject out of fear of the parents, mainly Cynthia. When she was around the kids, they were not as free as when she was not there. This also affected my experience during my free time. What I also didn't like was how Cynthia all the time mentioned the problems the village experiences. It gave me quite sometimes a guilty feeling that I had to help financially. I came to help the school with my teaching skills, not to finance. Overall, I look backwards to a nice experience at the village. Thank you, Cynthia and Salumba for everything! I give this review 3 stars because I think the description of good aligns the best with this workaway.
