It is such a special place. The work is varied and robust — I replanted vegetable beds, prepared rooms for artists, and even painted ceilings. Deej is a generous host, going out of her way to make sure volunteers have what they need. I appreciated her invitations to events — I’ll never forget the murmuration! So many beautiful snapshots of my time here have stayed with me. Thank you, Deej and Joanna. Thank you. Thank you, Ireland! Hope to see you again.

I forgot to write a review sooner, but I did a work exchange with Marie for about a month last year in September. I love this jungle so much, I had been there before at a different location and enjoyed being even deeper in the jungle where I could watch amazing birds and wake up to monkeys surrounding my cabin each morning. Watching the bats come out at night and swimming in the cave cenote were some of my favorite activities. I was there during rainy season and the mosquitoes were INTENSE, and Marie said sometimes they are worse! So that is something to prepare for. Also, the facility uses dry toilets that are basically just buckets with seats over them that you must clean out yourself every few days. For me this was no problem but it is something to be prepared for if you're not used to this kind of thing. The work was sometimes a little tiring in the heat but mostly not hard and it was interesting and useful to learn some of what goes into maintaining a home in the jungle. And Kashi was so beautiful, as well as the neighbor's puppies! Marie has lived a very interesting life and is a pretty amazing person! She has a very blunt way of communicating the particular way she wants things, which can feel a little harsh. I had a good experience learning to work through communication issues, which is something I struggle with in my life in general so I am grateful to have had that opportunity. I think some of the other volunteers got a little more stressed about it. I told them that the jungle is a shaman and whatever is presented to you there is an opportunity for growth, but if you are not feeling ready for that, then the jungle might kick you out! Flow with the Magick of the jungle and you will have an amazing experience 💜👽💜

Hello Melanie, we were extremely grateful to have you stay with us on the farm. I realize that most of what you said you learned was already inside you waiting to be expressed at the right opportunity. Your memories for life were realized because you showed up generous, kind and determined to make your visit a great experience for all involved. ALL WE DID WAS TO REFLECT YOUR GOODNESS BACK TO YOU. Thank you for your review that described so many of the elements that were memorable or unique to your time here.We appreciate that you were able to handle any task and understand why we were caring for the environment to keep the soil and the food it produces healthy and wholesome.Seeing you enjoy the foods grown here reminds us we are offering many choices for a life changing experience . We appreciated the practical improvements that you were able to construct for the cabin that will be there for years. Thank you for helping the other volunteers to develop greater understanding of Community Living and reliability. You're welcome to reach out anytime and return for a visit when possible. Franklin

I started my Workaway experience at Gloria’s in November and next month will be my last here. Since our first contact via video call, I could tell that Gloria is an amazing person. She’s kind, intelligent, and extremely communicative. I never had any problems with her and whenever I needed to reschedule something regarding my duties, she was always open to discussing it and finding a compromise together! Needless to say, the Workaway experience was perfectly in line with what she wrote on her profile. I already knew what to expect, but she still made sure to explain everything in detail month by month. Besides that, Gloria helped me with everything I needed to settle in the Netherlands, and beyond a professional relationship, I can say that I found a friend here. I’m sure future Workawayers will have a great time here, just as I did!🩷

Jigear is a kind and generous person with a big heart and big dreams. He made me feel very welcome in Kazakhstan and in his home. I stayed in Almaty for about three weeks. This was my first Workaway experience and I think I was very lucky to have Jigear as my host. He did not ask too much of me, mostly helping out around the house and garden and doing some arty stuff. We built a fence, which was fun, and I did a fair bit of cleaning. There were no strict hours/timings which was good because I was quite jetlagged when I arrived! I also helped him with some of his art and social projects, like being the camerawoman for his cyber punk videos and helping with his Valentine's Day arty activity. I also went to English club with him, but Jigear prepared all the materials and I just went along and helped. Jigear was very generous with his time and took me with him to hang out with his friends and showed me around Almaty. He helped me practise my Russian a lot, which I was very grateful for. He really treated me like a friend more than a stranger working in his home, and I'm really grateful for my time in Almaty!

Mumbi just a great host. We felt welcome from the very beginning, we had top class accommodation and the help she wanted was always planned together in harmony. Staying at Shanna was an island of serenity and this is all thanks to Mumbi's lifestyle. We were free to decide our favourite working hours, our suggestions were always taken into consideration and she also helped us A LOT with activities to do in our free time and good ideas on what to do around. We are very grateful and hope to meet you again!

I spent around four weeks with Adrian and Petra last November/December and I just want to thank them again for the great experience that I had. I felt very welcome from the beginning and started to adapt to the new life quickly. It was a pleasure to spend time and have many warm and interesting conversations with the most open and friendly people you could meet. Of course I also miss the dogs and horses, such lovely animals that I grew very fond of. I made so many amazing memories during my time in Sweden that I will never forget!

I stayed with Gati and her family for a month in one of the upstairs rooms. Was welcomed very warmly and everyone, teachers and students alike, were really eager to show me their country and culture, meaning there was always something to do despite being in a rural area. The kids were absolute sweethearts and very eager to learn it was such fun. It was an amazing opportunity to experience and enjoy a completely new culture.

We spent about 12 days at Kitti and Kwan’s home, a wonderful and very generous family who made us feel truly at home. The food was delicious, and every shared moment was warm and enjoyable. During our stay, I helped at the hotel repairing a bathroom and doing some electrical work, while Vero assisted Kwan at her smoothie stand at the Night Market. There was always something to do and a way to contribute, and it felt great to be able to help. We also shared beautiful moments with other volunteers, creating memories we will always cherish. We hope to return someday. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

Best place ever! Turi and Christa are two truly genuine and nice people. The house and surroundings aswell. And do not forget about the wine! Absolutly amazing. In a way, I want to give them the worst review. Because I do not want them to be fully booked. If you went there once, you want to come back! Fingers crossed for the next batch of wine!

I spent two weeks of February in Deia with Joanna and had a wonderful time! The workload was very reasonable, I would start in the morning and work for 5 hours. Then we would usually eat together and I'd have the rest of the day free. Deia is in the North of the island, so there are a lot of mountains and places to hike. I got 2 days off a week and I would typically go hiking for the most of the day, but you could also take the bus around the island. Joanna was great company and was flexible with scheduling. Her ceramics studio is beautiful and it was nice to be in a small town and get to know a lot of the locals. I would definitely recommend working with Joanna for anyone that can!

I am so grateful that I had the honor to work with Lilian at this place. She is such an inspiring lady, while still humble. She made so many positive changes in lives for others. We started chatting a few months ago and exchanged ideas a lot, so I cpuld help her a ltiile in the next step for this place. And besides that we developed an addition to the trainings they already have available. While i Was with Lilian I trained 4 young mums, who from now on also can be the traines for others in the community. Lilian and her colleguage Cecilai are warm and welcoming women, who are helping the women in the community in an open and very effective way. I am so glad to have been a part in that . For coming up volunteers, tell Lilian your skills so she can see if it fits in the longterm program of this place.

Having Joey with us was great! He’s super enthusiastic, always went the extra mile, and made learning really fun for the students. They loved his classes, and the staff truly enjoyed having him as part of the team. Wishing him all the best in his next adventures — hope to see him again soon!

What a wonderful experience. I spent three weeks from feb to march in Quillabamba, and I would definitely recommend. If you like kids, are a bit flexible with the work you do, and have creative interests or speak English, you will find much to do here. Jennifer and the team were very relaxed and efficient at holding everything together, and your skills are made to feel very welcome, making it a lovely place to teach and to assist. I was there during the summer holidays so spent the days in the academy, mainly assisting the creativity (painting, drawing, working with coloured paper and the Minichef cooking days) and helping out with the kids, though I once taught the kids how to draw a person step by step, they are a pleasure to teach- they have a lot of energy and it is sometimes tiring but they listen well and are eager to learn and are very interested in you. I also had a few teenagers who I would teach one - on- one English classes to, which was great practice for my Spanish. The town itself is very nice, lots of green squares and cafés, I went to a different pastelería almost every day, and had some great food in the town for very affordable prices. The people are very curious about foreigners and mostly very friendly and eager to chat about where you're from, which I welcomed as it contributed to the feeling of complete immersion. Overall, great experience, I will miss the kids and the sunny weather!

This was my first Workaway experience. I stayed with this family in Berlin for two months :) The organization of the activities was clear from the very beginning, starting with the initial interview. The working hours did not exceed the required 20/25 per week. Sometimes a bit of extra help may be requested on the weekend, but this is agreed upon in advance! Overall, it was a positive experience. Highly recommended especially for those looking for a well organized environment, clearly defined tasks, and free afternoons and evenings :) It is not an experience focused on cultural exchange, since the family has a busy routine and Nadine is the only one who speaks English fluently, but they are always happy to share dinner together. Tip: Berlin is a city best enjoyed in warm weather and with plenty of daylight, so do not go in winter if you are sensitive to gloomy weather!
