    Description

    We are a registered community organization in Githurai-45, mumbi community. Our goal is to empower women and girls because when a woman is empowered then the community benefits. Among what we do is provide sanitary pads and mentorship to local vulnerable girls on a monthly basis. We also provide small non collateral loans to women and youth to start or boost their bussiness because the level of unemployment in our community is quite high. We also teach skills to women to help them to become independent and self sustainable. Currently we have two staff members and several local volunteers who take part in our different activities. Our staff members help with day to day running of the organization such as book keeping, loan collection and planning for monthly mentorship.
    We welcome volunteers to join us and help develop our community and in exchange we provide food and accommodation for the period the volunteer us with us.join us and let's learn from each other.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Our home is surrounded by an area that is home to 47 distinct tribes, each with its own unique traditions and ways of life. Members of our association have grown up in this cultural environment, giving us a profound connection to the local heritage.

    By staying with us, volunteers will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the slow rhythms of rural life, while also experiencing the lively energy of nearby markets. This blend of serene and vibrant environments offers a full spectrum of local experiences.

    Cooking and sharing meals together will also be an important part of the volunteer experience.

    We deeply value volunteers' ambition and projects, and we are happy to support any specific interest they will have, whether it is exploring particular places, tasting local food or engaging with the community. Additionally, we are happy to teach our local languages, especially Kiswahili.

    We need help in:

    1. Mentoring boys and girls on a monthly basis on SRHR (Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights);
    2. Helping us find funds to support our projects (girls' sanitary pads, selling eco-soap, filling our brand new library);
    3. Organize recreational activities to animate and share your culture with our community;
    4. Watering veggies in our garden and feeding our few chickens;
    5. Following up on our website and Facebook page with new content;
    6. Eventually report your experience so we can share it on our social media.
