My experience with Martina was amazing. I spent 43 days there!!! The place, the house, and the people give you the peace you need. And of course, you will also have fun. Martina is a very, very kind person who makes you feel at home. Communication is easy, and life there feels simple and comfortable. I really enjoyed my time there :)

Quentin and Claire stayed with us for six weeks. They are polite, enthusiastic, and reliable. During their time here, they assisted with raking, pool cleaning, dog minding, and general cleaning. I was particularly impressed by their work ethic and results-driven approach. They consistently chose the most effective methods to achieve the best outcomes, even when this required greater physical effort. For example, they meticulously raked leaves rather than using a blower, which only provides a temporary result. As a result, the gardens looked noticeably tidier and more well-maintained. I wish Quentin and Claire all the best in their future adventures and highly recommend them to others and prospective employers.

Lu is such a wonderful person - genuine kindness through and through. She can make a dark room bright with her presence alone, and she's just a pleasure to be around. Workwise, she's an absolute professional, hard working and independent. I gave her a very ambitious project from the very beginning, and she delivered far beyond what I thought possible, while still taking full part in the day to day tasks. She completely immersed herself in everything related to my farm and my business, and was very quick to know and understand in which areas I needed help. If it wasn't for the short visa, she'd be welcome to stay here indefinitely, so I really hope she can find the place of her dreams :)

What an exciting and lovely experience! Valentin had so much to offer apart from working in the woods and around the house: There was such good food all the time (I couldn't stop eating), the caravan I slept in was super cozy, the place somewhere in nowhere land where flowers and trees and birds and insects flourish, a place where the mind is sitting next to the river observing the flow of water without thinking about what to do next. I loved to be within the family, folks with great humour and many interests. Board and card games made my evenings complete, made me fall into the bed with a warm feeling about what will tomorrow bring for us. Ahhhh so good! I hope to meet you soon again! Thank you, Sue

As a volunteer with little experience, she did a good job. We let her use her strengths, and she cooperated very hard. She didn't try to cheat or shirk her duties, and she got along well with us.

Liam was our very first Workaway guest, and hosting him encouraged us to continue with the experience, which we really appreciate. Liam helped with tasks around the garden. He was easy to have around. He integrated nicely into family life, got along well with the kids, and joined some of our activities during his stay, which was nice to see. We also appreciated the conversations and the time spent together during meals and outings. We’re glad we had the chance to host him and wish him all the best with his future travels

Sofia staying with us was truly a wonderful experience, and we look back on her time here with very fond memories. From the very beginning, she fitted into our family life effortlessly. Our kids absolutely loved her, she spent hours playing games with them, teaching and learning from each other, and just being a warm, fun presence in the house. She joined us for family dinners, helped around the kitchen, and really became a part of our daily routine. Sofia also shared her culture and traditional recipes with us, cooking meals that we all enjoyed and sparking many conversations about her home country. We spent many lovely evenings together chatting, laughing, and learning from each other, which made her stay even more special. She worked very hard around the homestead, especially in the garden and the stable, and always approached every task with care, curiosity, and a positive attitude. Her willingness to help and her cheerful presence made a big difference for us. We were genuinely sad to see her leave and truly miss her energy and kindness. Sofia’s stay left a lasting impression on our family, and we would welcome her back anytime, she will always have an open door here.

Romy,Elisa and Daniel.Thank you so much for everything. I feel truly happy and lucky to have stayed here. Spending two weeks in Vienna with such a lovely family was an amazing experience. I really wished I could have stayed longer, and I felt sad when it was time to leave. Romy is a truly kind and caring person. She was always very helpful, taking the time to explain things in detail and making sure I was comfortable. During meals, she would always kindly ask if I wanted more food, which made me feel very welcome. She was also very open-minded, asking me many questions and sharing about herself, which helped me feel relaxed and truly part of the family. Having a cozy room with a big bed and my own bathroom was also one of the reasons I felt so comfortable during my stay. Elisa and Daniel are both very cute and full of energy. They get along very well, and it was heartwarming to see them together. They often invited me to play, and spending time with them at the park or at home.It is my favorite memories. It takes about an hour to reach the city center by bus and metro, so I was able to go there often to watch theatre and go shopping, which allowed me to fully enjoy Vienna. There is also a national park nearby, where you can experience nature. If you want to enjoy Vienna while having a homestay experience, I would definitely recommend staying here.

We feel very lucky to have hosted Natsumi and truly appreciated the time we spent together. From the beginning, she was kind, respectful, and a pleasure to have around. She worked consistently and approached every task with care and dedication, always willing to help. We especially appreciated her positive attitude and the way she quietly but consistently contributed to daily life on the homestead. Our kids loved having her here. They shared great times—and it was beautiful to see how naturally they connected. It meant a lot to us. We also really enjoyed learning more about her home country and sharing cultures with each other. Those moments made the experience even more special for our whole family. Overall, we are very grateful for her time with us and would warmly recommend her to any future hosts. She will always be welcome back here!

Chris was an exceptional guest, and we are very grateful for the time he spent with us. We have honestly never met someone who works as hard as he does. No matter the task, bringing out compost, moving heavy beams, cleaning up, or anything else that came up, he approached it with energy, commitment, and a great attitude. His work ethic really stood out and made a big impact on our daily life here. He also helped consistently with daily chores in the house, which we truly appreciated. Although he mentioned being a bit shy at first, he blended into our family almost immediately. He built a lovely connection with our youngest, spending a lot of time playing and engaging, which meant a lot to us. Chris was very curious and proactive, always looking for ways to help and learn. We really enjoyed our conversations with him and learning more about his life in Montreal and his work. Chris left an everlasting memory. He is a very pleasant and easy person to have around. We would highly recommend him to any host, and of course he is always welcome back here, the hammock is ready for him anytime.

I felt extremely comfortable and welcome at Pedro's place. It's a perfect spot to calm down the mind and reconnect with nature and animals. The house I stayed in was big and offered lot's of space for playing, reading, drawing and experimenting in the kitchen. I also enjoyed the work, it was simply, kind of meditative and a bit sweaty... it couldn't have been more balanced. Pedro showed himself very caring and made sure that the house would feel like my own. THANK YOU! I want to back ASAP! All the best, Sue

I spent two weeks at David’s place, nestled between hills covered in forests. The weather in March was stunning, though it often cooled down below 0°C at night. I got to enjoy nature’s beauty by exploring the surroundings, hiking the different peaks, and often times just by witnessing the quiet. Besides that, spending time with David’s children, who have endless energy, was lots of fun. They are adorable, curious, and joyful, while also respecting boundaries when communicated. My tasks varied between collecting, cutting, and storing wood for winter, doing dishes, helping with cooking, entertaining the kids, picking nettles, plastering, and fixing fences. Most of the time, it was totally up to us volunteers which tasks we wanted to take on. There was no specific schedule, and we weren’t told to work; it was much more self-organized, which I was fine with. David was always willing to show and explain any task and answer any questions. Dinners, which were always delicious, were eaten together, usually followed by board games or conversations about all sorts of things. Although we didn’t always share the same views, I felt part of the family, and it was a harmonious togetherness😊. Thanks for the experience David!

I had an amazing ten days with Alexis, Monica and the two girls. They were from the start very clear about expectations and very welcoming :) The planning process and organisation was very smooth. During the workaway, they were always very happy to share more about Catalan culture and even spoke some Spanish with me as I was really keen to learn. We had some dinners together, which were really nice. They also gave me good recommendations on what I could visit in Barcelona and around the city during my free time. And of course, the girls were very sweet and it was lovely to spend time with them. We had lots of fun together and they were always very well behaved! It was overall a really beautiful experience and I am so grateful to Alexis and Monica for being wonderful hosts :)

The place is really great and very beautiful. Like an oasis in the mountains with the cat, horse and chickens. Also the Communication was very bad. I wanted to make sure to respect their privacy and their timescedules, so i asked how things should be done. They told me to find my own rhythm in the first week. The next week she said that i started working too late, so i changed it. Then i started when they wanted (what was absolutely no Problem but just tell me to start at a specific time, Not to find my own rhythm If this is a Problem for you) The week after Maria Said i was still Late, what simply was Not the truth. Except of This I thought everything was alright but sadly the other Volunteer informed me that Maria came to me to Speak about me… Maria talked behind my back about how bad my timescedule is and that I eat to much. But to me Maria appeaed as always the friendliest, positive Person. I would have never thought that she does not get along with me. She also did Not respect her own borders of privacy. Because of the simple fact she could Not communicate it properly. They did Not wanted me in theire House for Long or me sitting in Front of the fire. But when i asked whether i could stay or had to leave the house, she would Never tell me to leave…? This did not make any sense to me. Especially when you Host Volunteers in your house you should be able to communicate your borders. It felt like she had to always be sooo nice to everybody to just know that she is the happy-positive Person. But in reality i think she did not have a positive view towards me. So it would have been way easier to just talk. Sadly my stay had to end 3 weeks earlier, out of nothing. Suddenly Maria said that there was „nothing left to do“ so they could not provide any work for the other volunteer and me. It really felt like a lie because in such a place there is always something to do, it was really trustbreaking. The next day I heared the voicemail, she sent to the other volunteer, in which she says that of course the other volunteer could stay longer, it was all „the freaked out guy from the City“. I left by foot walking to the next village Maria is not making sure that people unterstand here needs and borders, because she is not communicating it properly. Then she blamed it on me (of course she didnt wanted me to know it so she sent voicemails to the other volunteer talking bad behind my back) So to summarize: The place is great, the nature is incredible and the waterfall stunning. But when you want to be at a Place where people communicate open, are friendly (Not Fake-friendly because of their ego) and real, you should not come here. I think it was a mismatch

We spent 6 weeks with Frank and Junko and received a very warm welcome. During our stay, we helped maintain their property by cleaning the pool, mainly collecting leaves, doing pet sitting, and general cleaning tasks. In exchange, we were accommodated in very comfortable conditions and shared many warm and enjoyable moments with our hosts, as well as with the other volunteers we met along the way. It was a truly wonderful experience that we highly recommend. We would be very happy to return and spend more time with Frank and Junko in the future.

Such an amazing family. Andi and Ella are the nicest couple we’ve ever met, always trying to do good for us in every possible way and making it the best Workaway experience. We truly felt like part of the family from the very first moment. Every breakfast, lunch, and dinner we shared turned into interesting conversations about all kinds of topics, and we learned so much. We learned a lot about alternative medicine and herbs, off-grid living, and martial arts—but I feel like that was only the tip of the iceberg. Simon and Samuel taught us German through their homework, which we really enjoyed. Not to mention all the fun we had sledding in the snow and building an igloo together.

We felt so welcomed from the very first moment with the family. In just two weeks, we experienced so much—ski trips, ice skating, bobsledding, and relaxing sauna nights. It was a short stay, but absolutely amazing, and so many great things happened. Natalie is an incredible cook—not to mention that all her food is organic and mostly made from scratch. She also makes amazing tempeh, kimchi, sauerkraut—you name it, she has it! Our work didn’t even feel like work because we had such nice conversations with Roland. We learned a lot about wood and forest work, along with having open-minded discussions about life. And also we participated in fun projects like painting a big flower plant inside their kitchen, so cool. With the kids, Arik and Vito—our little German teachers—we had so much fun together. We can’t wait to see you all again!

Thesi is the coolest woman ever—very warm-hearted and welcoming. She always checked to make sure I was having a good time. Right upon my arrival, she introduced me to the beautiful city of Vienna, where I spent a wonderful weekend less than an hour from her place. She prepared some of the very best traditional Austrian food, along with other healthy and delicious meals. I had a great time working at her place, helping with various tasks around the house in a beautiful setting. Her dogs are absolutely lovely—I really enjoyed taking care of them. My favorite task was feeding Pauli, the mini pig. And I have to mention that her knitting tips were life-changing!

And this is review ! 🙇‍♀️ Kotone, thank you for everything.you were a great help to us. Even though your stay was only two weeks, we created many wonderful memories together, and the time passed so quickly. Kotone is polite, considerate, and always ready to help whenever needed. From the moment she arrived, her warm and considerate personality made her very easy to live with. She was always helpful and willing to support us with various tasks such as cleaning, gardening, and assisting Romy with cutting work for her job, which was a great help to us during her stay. She was also very flexible and understanding when plans changed, which we really appreciated and made everything run smoothly. Kotone kindly cooked delicious Japanese meals for lunch, and she always took initiative in cleaning up afterwards. We shared many meaningful and enjoyable conversations together, talking about our daily lives and cultural differences. She has a very open and positive way of communicating, which made our time together especially nice. It was lovely to see her enjoying exploring the city of Vienna and watch theatres as well. In her free time, she spent time playing with my children, whether it was card games or running around in the park. She was patient, caring, and playful with them, and the children absolutely loved spending time with her. Overall, having Kotone stay with us was truly a wonderful experience, and she was a great support to our family. We would warmly recommend her to any future hosts.
