We stayed with Konomi at our school and the community where she was working at the school and she was also attending our outreach program to visit some nearby secondary school where we donated trees and menstruation pads She’s a hard work ready to learn, and I am recommending her for the future host

I am so grateful for the opportunity to join the family. This is literally a family business, whereas many members are working there with the volunteers. They have a very interesting broad vision about the activities to be developedi this wonderful place and I wish them all tons of success in each project. Bruno and Barbara are very kind and nice hosts. We were mostly dealing with Bruno, since he is the one in charge of the volunteers. He made us feel at home. We were allowed to use all the facilities of the Fazenda. This place was a dream! Being able to eat fruits collected from the trees or harvested from their garden was the cherry on the cake... Ana (Barbara's mom) is in charge of the kitchen. It was so inspiring to work with her. She does everything with love and we noticed it in the taste of the amazing recipes that she cooked. She delivers her job with excellence. Ana is a great professional and has an adorable heart! They are currently working on improvements in the volunteers house, that need to wait for the dry season to be completed. Abundant food is provided as well. I totally recommend this host!

We spent about 3 weeks with Anna, Teresa and Alegra and we fully enjoyed our time there. It was our first workaway experience ever and it couldn’t have been better. Teresa and Anna welcomed us from the first moment and always made sure we had everything we needed, especially during the cold Finnish winter. They were always super kind and considerate and helped us if needed. We started renovating one of the smaller cottages and had some additional tasks like bringing fire wood or cleaning the carpets in the snow, baking bread or making lunch. Even though it was a very dark and cold time we had a lot of fun with the snow, when sledding or just walking on the frozen fjord. It was definitely one of the most epic scenery’s we have ever seen!

I loved my experience here! I had just arrived in Brazil, and it was the perfect experience to begin my three-month trip. I arrived during the rainy season, so there weren’t many different things to do—mostly helping with hospitality and doing some kitchen work. But with the staff and the volunteers (and some music), it became an enjoyable routine. I would have loved to see the Fazenda a bit more lively and help with an event, for example, so if you come during the high season it will probably be even nicer! The four hours of work per day left me with plenty of time for myself and with the other volunteers, with whom I spent time cooking, chilling, and enjoying the place. Bruno, and all the Fazenda team, are such kind people. I really enjoyed talking with Bruno, who is very caring, positive, and interesting, and who helped me discover a bit of Brazilian culture. A great person that I won't forget! The accommodation and the space are very comfortable. It needs a few small repairs here and there, but otherwise there’s everything you need (and a lot of things to cook with 😍). To sum up, it was a great Workaway to slow down, take time for myself, enjoy the plenty of space for sports or yoga, and meet amazing people I truly enjoyed getting to know. 🤗 Thank you, take care, and tudo de bom sempre ! 🌞

Volunteering here was a very special experience. Staying inside the Old City of Jerusalem in an 800 year old building is something very few people get to experience. The building itself feels like a stone cave — historic and full of character — and the location is safe and extremely convenient. The work is easy and it is basic hotel/hostel housekeeping and mostly involves making beds, cleaning the floors, bathrooms, & tables, and doing the laundry. If you work a front desk shift (additional to the housekeeping) volunteers receive $15 / 50₪ and sometimes even more if you get lucky, which is generous for a Workaway volunteer exchange and helpful for buying lunch or groceries. Definitely not enough for making any sort of income. You will probably spend all that money the day you earn it. The other volunteers during my stay were lovely people and created a friendly communal atmosphere. There are quite a lot of steep flights of stairs in the building, so be prepared for that, and there are no windows so it can sometimes feel a bit stuffy. Getting outside in the fresh air often helps and the Old City is an amazing place to explore. During my stay I unfortunately got very sick and had to go to the ER. The host was incredibly kind and understanding. He offered me a separate space away from the other volunteers so I could rest and encouraged me to take as much time as I needed to recover. I was also lucky to have a friend nearby who helped support me during that time. Overall I’m very grateful for this experience.

I've been in the Chris place for two weeks in February, he is a very kind person that likes to make you feel good in your living. The work at the beginning was hard, also because i've never work in a farm before. When it was raining the work change and was more soft inside the house (like cleaning the fridge, help with the bottone of oil) with me there it was another volunteer that help a lot despite some days after his arrive he left without saying a word to anyone....By the way if at the beginnig the work was hard as a city guy like me hahah after i got used to physical work and was really cool :). Chris is a really good Chef and cook delicious indian dishes, i spend some very good times with him and his friends. After work i usually went to the river with his dogs that are very funny and i met other people of the community, some of them are crazy hahah. I'm very happy to have been in this place because i learn different types of work like to fertilize, recycle the logs and last but not least light up the fire 🤩. As my first workaway was a nice experience and I really reccomend, so if u want to live a real off grid experience come here!!!

Definitely an amazing experience! My 5-week exchange with this family was the highlight of my trip. Kristy is a fantastic host: very kind, helpful, and generous. I truly appreciated how she always made sure everything was going well, keeping communication clear and open at all times. Kristy, Logan, Connor, Dylan and Lucas shared their home and their lives with me from day one. The accommodation was great and the work was fair, with a perfect balance between tasks and free time. I especially loved the long chats between Kristy and me and the deep cultural immersion; it was the best way to truly experience the culture. I’m so grateful for everything Kristy, her kids and Oma taught me and I already miss them! If you have the chance to visit them, don't hesitate! I couldn't have asked for a better host family for my first workaway experience. (Wait, did I say thank you enough? Because I really, really appreciate it!) :)

I stayed at the hostel for about a month and absolutely loved my stay there. Luna is an incredible host: she is always smiling, encourages you to have the best time possible, and helps you with everything you need. The hostel itself is very beautiful and peaceful, a place to relax and enjoy nature. It is also a great base to explore Torres Del Paine. Thank you for the wonderful time Luna and Victor - I hope to see you again!! Espero volver a verlos pronto!

I can fully recommend staying at the Garden for a Workaway experience. The atmosphere at the school is really positive as the teachers do their job with joy and the children enjoy studying within an open and play-based learning concept. My job was to accompany the kids during their school day and interact with them in English or German. Also, I planned some small speaking activities or little games. I always felt welcome and even though the communication in English (or German) sometimes was a bit challenging, everyone took their time listening to me and answering my questions. The other teachers also invited me to some activities like music jams or karaoke parties. Other ways to spend your free time include taking the bike to the beautiful lake or visiting nearby cities like Verona or Trient. The time in Riva was my first Workaway experience and I couldn‘t be happier about it! I truly miss the children and teachers!

I travelled to Palín in February 2026 just for a one month escape from the cold northeast US and chance to teach, learn about a new country, and practice some Spanish. I was nervous before going, but would 100% recommend this experience to anyone whom it sounds interesting to. I have a few years of teaching experience in the US, and this environment was comparatively a dream. All of the staff were friendly, caring, and helpful. Raúl runs a fantastic English academy where students of all ages come to improve their chances of employment and travel opportunities in the future. Teaching is out of a book, but you can really create engaging activities based on some of the book prompts to keep the class fun and interesting. For example, there was a discussion prompt about describing a wedding ceremony in Guatemala, and I had the students work in small groups to write a paragraph and then share in front of the class. When we were learning grammar or tenses, I would create class competitions of two teams, say the phrase/word in Spanish and then see which team could write the answer fastest for a point. Just fun opportunities for speaking, friendly competition, discussing with classmates a topic in English, etc. created a vibrant classroom environment. For the most part you are either teaching a class, assisting another teacher in a class, or doing 1-1 conversations with learners of all levels. Sometimes I had no idea what I'd be doing when I walked into the academy in the morning, but I never felt unprepared. In terms of my language ability, I had only studied Spanish on YouTube for 4 months prior to this trip. I was able to practice some conversations with the staff but for the most part the staff and the students also wanted to practice their English so my limited capabilities weren't a problem. I would say it's very helpful to know some basic phrases if you plan on traveling around a little bit. Lake Atitlan, Antigua, and the Acetenango and Fuego hikes are all very accessible by private shuttle or chicken bus. Raúl will help you figure out how to get to your destination and give you advice. Honestly, it's 1 week after leaving and I am missing this experience so much. I would 100% go back one day if it fits into my schedule. I would also recommend staying for 2 months if you're able to. The work is rewarding, fun, and not super time-consuming. The accommodation is lovely, shared with another volunteer, safe, equipped with a pool, gym, shops, etc. in a gated community. Raúl also went grocery shopping for us almost weekly based on what we needed. Thank you Academy, Raúl, and everyone who made this such an amazing experience! <3 Emily

Hosting Alyson was a wonderful experience! We coordinated her arrival many months in advance, which was great for us, as summer is a bit busy. She helped us with tasks such as cleaning seeds, harvesting fruit, and making jams and chutneys. It was so much fun sharing the kitchen together! Alyson arrived at a great time, and we were able to enjoy beautiful days outdoors. Her stay also coincided with community activities, which she was able to participate in very actively. And with the addition of a new member to our family: Maqui. It was a lot of fun spending time with Alyson. We had lovely conversations and shared many experiences. We really appreciate your time and willingness to help, and we hope to see you again!

Alisa's a strong, thoughtful person who we'd love to have out here again some time. She works hard with a great attitude and really pushed things forward. We were super fortunate to meet her on a personal level too. We shared lots of laughs and great conversations, made time to play some basketball and hang out, and it's positively humbling and inspiring to meet someone so quick to open up about both their accomplishments and their struggles. Nothing was sugar-coated or superficial. Down to earth yet profound. We're thankful she made a little detour from her exciting new path to hang out at our place, looking forward to next time!

Eddy is the rare volunteer who truly became part of the family. No matter the work or the weather, he had a smile on his face every day, maybe every other minute. He worked to task, putting in the hours needed to get the job done and taking pride in his work even when the hosts' own attitudes about it weren't as good as his was! Almost every volunteer these days writes about wanting to "get their hands dirty" and whatnot (thanks, chatGPT), waxes poetic about living in the moment... but Eddy truly does, he came here to be here and accepted things as they are, as opposed to bringing a rigid preconceived notion. And because of that, he improved things here. He went with the flow, so he changed the flow for the better. He will land on his feet because he accepts the frustrations of life as part of the process... I could learn a lot from him. We laughed and thought through things together every day, missed a bunch of three pointers, got a lot done, just had a great time. Truly hope he passes through again.

Nico was a ray of light and positivity during his whole stay here. He got along great with the other volunteers, often showing them the ropes of the various projects we had going. We shared a ton of laughs, good conversations, and were lucky to get to hear his piano playing daily. He's a person animated by the spirit of curiosity and imagination who would be a great asset to any project. And we're lucky he's from Austin so we can drag him out here again some time!

Amazing experience! The captain David is a wondeful human being, the amount of work he does to keep this project alive is unbelievable. it is wonderful to see that he crated such a great safe haven in this turmoiled world. This boat is a great place accomodating for all, My time there was excellent, found myself laughing outloud almost allday everyday, after months of much stress, I reccomend anyone that can chip in to this project that they bring forth whatever they can. All the best to the crew and the captain. i cant wait to come back.

Vielen Dank, Daniel! Wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen!
