I spent one month in Cusco working on the project. My task was taking care of the orchids and other plants in the nursury. The garden is located on the hillside above Cusco just next to the Sacsayhuamán ruins. It's a beautiful place to be, filled with native plants and many alpacas to keep you company. Josemaria and his family were great hosts and I really felt like home. I had a chance to learn about the andean plants and the way of living in these sacred mountains. The work they do and their connection to nature is inspiring and I was lucky to be a part of it. Thank you!

Claudette did a great job at looking after the cats and the house. The cats seemed very happy and relaxed with her. Claudette has lots of energy and loves Cleaning so I’m sure she would be happy getting on with any job required of her. I admire her adventurous spirit and appetite to see new places. Good luck on all your adventures.

was an amazing experience. family is warm, caring, patient, and genuinely welcoming. rather, if you’d like to have knowledge-filled conversations with Evelyn about nature, cooking, meals, animals, geography, and many other topics, or cheers a beer with Sebastian for friendly, good company, or just play football/games with their son (who is, by the way, the friendliest kid you’ll ever meet) - you have it all here. now add to this the sheep, goats, donkeys, horse, Nino the dog, and the breathtaking Dolomites vibe… it’s pretty great here 🙂 Also, the room is really comfy if you need your own privacy sometimes. Highly recommended.

Trisha is such an amazing human, and her place is like something from a movie! If you are a creative, you would be so lucky to spend time with Trisha! I enjoyed just chatting with her during my stay, and she had the best recommendations! I did a little painting, watered the plants, some tidying, and some sewing! Trisha was so kind to give me new skills, and incorporate them into my work. She is good at communicating and learning what skills you have. I wish I could have stayed longer! Trisha and I also did some fun outings together like swimming, going to an art gallery, and going to a movie! The location is perfect, and was such a great home to have in Sydney! I am already looking forward to visiting again 💖

We stayed here for one month and had an amazing time. It was a wonderful experience, and we learned a lot. Our working hours were usually from 9:00 to 13:00. The tasks varied and included picking olives, cleaning and cultivating the fields, building stone walls, and cleaning the henhouse. Most of the work was not too hard, and we truly enjoyed it. Manuel is a very kind, open-minded, and flexible host. He always took good care of us and shared many interesting experiences and stories. He is also an excellent cook! We loved all of his dishes very much. The freshly pressed olive oil from Manuel's farm had a wonderful aroma and was delicious. For the first time, we were able to experience the true flavor of olive oil. We even cooked Japanese tonkotsu ramen together, which was delicious and a lot of fun. It was a great cultural exchange. We are very grateful for this experience and highly recommend staying with Manuel to other Workawayers. Thank you so much, Manuel! Nos vemos!!

I’ve been volunteering at this farm in Swellendam for over a week, and honestly, it has been a wonderful experience. The place is unbelievably beautiful — surrounded by majestic mountains, a peaceful river, and breathtaking views that make you feel deeply connected to nature. Every day feels refreshing and grounding. The farm is full of life, with plenty of horses and other animals, which makes the experience both fun and meaningful. I’ve learned many new practical skills here, and the work never feels boring — it’s engaging, hands-on, and often quite enjoyable. David, the owner and host, is very friendly, easy-going, and highly skilled. He creates a relaxed but productive environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and learning by doing. His experience and calm attitude make the daily work smooth and enjoyable. And a special mention goes to his lovely dog, Alma — always sweet, friendly, and a real joy to have around. She definitely adds extra warmth to the place. Another big plus is the location. Swellendam is only about a 4-hour bus ride from Cape Town, with several reliable bus companies operating the route. Although it’s a small town, it’s peaceful, safe, and has everything you need — shops, groceries, and basic services. The accommodation provided by David is comfortable, and the meals are delicious and nourishing. Overall, this is a highly recommended Workaway experience for anyone who enjoys nature, animals, and learning in a positive atmosphere. Erdem

I spent 2 weeks with the family last November, I will never forget these people & this place. I felt welcome right away, everyone was genuinely nice, caring and generous. I loved olive harvesting and working in the fields, it barely felt like work with so much joy & "hoppyness" ;) I've learnt a lot, loved the amazing food cooked by Poppy, was inspired by the handmade & recycling way of doing things, and the nice opened talks. And of course, the olive oil, still addict even back home!! Penelope & Dimitris: thanks again immensely for everything ♥️ Angelos Madi Andreas Alkis and all the friends: happy to have met you & wish you the best!! Hope to see you all again in life :)

We hosted Rara for about one and a half months. The reason we decided to host her was because I personally asked her if she would like to stay with our family. Rara is extremely curious and a very interesting person. She is also very tough and has great physical stamina. Although babysitting was her first experience with our family, she handled everything perfectly — mediating fights between the children, playing with toys, helping with bath time, and assisting with changing clothes. What impressed us the most was her ability to respond immediately in dangerous situations. Our two-year-old twins often try to stand on chairs or jump off the sofa, but Rara always rushed over right away to prevent accidents. This is something that is quite difficult for someone who is new to babysitting, yet she managed it naturally from the very beginning. In addition to babysitting, she also did household chores such as cleaning and washing dishes perfectly and very carefully. The purpose of her stay was to improve her English skills, and she actively communicated with other Workaway members every day, learning many new English expressions. She is also scheduled to stay as a Workaway at my sister’s home in Tokyo in March. Both my sister and I are very happy to have Rara helping our families. She will surely continue to travel to many countries and gain a wide range of valuable experiences. I can confidently recommend Rara to all hosts. She will have a wonderful time playing with your children, teach them Japanese very well, and help around the house with great responsibility.

Thank you Miki! I had some nice days at your place It was my first experience in workaway and I had a great time meeting Miki, listening to her stories (she has plenty), drinking mates and learning a bit about how it is to live off-grid Greetings to Seb, who I also wish to see again :)

I had the chance to take part on the Christmas Camp, and I am very thankful for that experience. I was truly impressed by the maturity, creativity, and cleverness of the campers. Spending time with the group truly felt like a mutual learning process - and oh, how much we can learn from such artistic, witty minds. I also really appreciated that the activities and daily plans were mostly organised by young people in utter freedom. Seeing youngsters in charge of such a big project was honestly striking, especially because it brought about a sense of empowerment, responsibility and agency amongst the team. Overall, it was a fruitful experience, and I would totally recommend it to energetic people interested in teaching/working with youngsters. Give it a try! This English immersion camps seem to be an excellent learning-by-doing practice for education enthusiasts.

Six stars are needed for Andrea & Andreas. They stayed with us for four weeks in Nov/Dec 2025. They are great workers, great cooks, great company. They helped moving tools and furniture to our new location. It would have been a massive job without all their efforts. We'd ne happy to see them back sometime.

Karolina came to stay with us for 10 days in the middle of winter. I was worried that there would be too much rain here in Northern Portugal for us to be able to do anything outside, but the weather cooperated. Karolina helped with weeding around the grape vines, planting rose bushes and cooking. We had a great time together and she was very easy to have around. It was nice that she appreciated the cooking and dinner party we organized for her to meet people living near us. Overall this was a great experience and se was a great workawayer!

Paulina stayed with us during Oct/Nov 2025. She worked mostly with the horses, training and exercising them. She also worked well with the other workawayers in the team. She's cheerful, helpful and a good worker. We would like to see her again sometime.

Maeva and Elena stayed with us for a month and were wonderful to have around. They had great energy, very friendly and worked well as a team. They never hid away from any task and were willing participants throughout their stay. They were both hard workers who never complained and always had a smile on their faces. Both wonderful girls who we would be happy to welcome back anytime.

If you’re looking for a deep dive into Portuguese rural life, this is it. I spent 10 days helping a lovely couple with their garden and home, and in return, I received a masterclass in hospitality. Living in a traditional house built 450 years ago was a dream, and the local community they introduced me to made the experience even more special. Shelley and Bruno, thank you for your care and for sharing your beautiful place with me!

Reka stayed with our family for about two months. She is very sincere and always played kindly with our children. Whenever the children argued or were crying, she gently reached out to them and was always looking for ways to cheer them up. Her caring attitude made us feel very reassured. She is also truly intelligent. During her stay, her Japanese listening skills improved remarkably. It was amazing to see someone who did not understand Japanese at all become able to understand so much in just two months. During her stay, my English ability was limited, so we couldn’t have very deep conversations. However, I would love to talk much more when we meet again next time. Finally, I sincerely wish that your family trip will be a wonderful one.

Marco was an excellent volunteer at Workaway. He is extremely approachable, easygoing, and always willing to help with whatever was needed. He worked with great dedication, was friendly and respectful at all times, and we got along really well. It was an absolute pleasure having him with us, and he contributed positively in every way. Marco is highly reliable, very correct in his approach, and his presence made the experience even more enjoyable. He will always be warmly welcome

I volunteered in Uganda for three months with incredibly kind, loving, and welcoming people. The organization that Francis has built is a true step toward a better future for children living in Kigungu who otherwise would not have the opportunity to attend school. This organization gives children access to education regardless of their life situation – everyone is given a chance. During my time there, I have never met children with such a strong desire and joy for learning. In Europe, school is often seen as an obligation, but in Kigungu, education represents hope for a better future. The children are genuinely excited to go to school, eager to learn, and deeply grateful for every opportunity they receive. Francis and his family welcomed me immediately as a member of their family. I have never felt “at home” so quickly anywhere else. The care, love, and attention that Francis and Aida give not only to the children but also to all the volunteers is truly exceptional. It is hard to put into words how amazing they are – they have become my second family, whom I love deeply. Thanks to this organization, I met so many wonderful children who truly deserve a chance for a better future. We shared countless joyful and sunny days full of playing, learning new things, laughing, and helping one another. The love and gratitude the children show you simply by spending time with them is indescribable and deeply moving. This organization has earned a very special place in my heart that can never be replaced. I fell in love with every moment I spent there, and as soon as I have the opportunity to return, I will not hesitate for a second. What Francis is doing with his organization is truly meaningful, and I am extremely grateful that I could be part of something so beautiful and impactful. I miss all of you. Eliška

I spent a really great time with Denis, it felt like two friends who have known each other rather than a typical host–volunteer relationship. He is a very easygoing, chill person and a pleasure to live with. Deniz completed every task I gave him properly and with care. During his stay, I had firewood delivered for winter use, and it was perfect timing that he was here — he helped carry and organize the wood without hesitation. He is calm, helpful, and reliable. I truly appreciated having him around and would gladly host him again.

We had a wonderful stay at Caro's place. We stayed for one week and felt welcomed from the time we arrived. Caro is a very lovely and kind woman and was willing to guide and help us when we had questions about the tasks. The to-do list made it very easy for us to choose task that matched our skills. The flexible work hours made it possible for us to enjoy the city. The accomodation was also very clean and cozy and had everything we needed. All in all we can totally recommend Caro as a host :)
