Lisa is truly amazing. She exceeded all our expectations in every way. She is mature, grounded, and down-to-earth, with a big heart and remarkable empathy. She offered help wherever it was needed and always did so with genuine care. She helped to run that place smootly. We can highly recommend!!!

For my first Workaway trip it was exactly what I was hoping for! Jemima is a very kind and experienced host, who made me feel welcome and comfortable from the get go. She was very considerate of my needs and planned doable and enjoyable tasks- I thoroughly enjoyed deep tidying and organising for her and her family! Apart from a stunning house and surrounding land, you can also visit the nearby Abbot, rich with historical and cultural depth and very welcoming people. Highly recommend Jemima, weather you are just looking for a few days away or a longer stay. Dorset is lovely and I had a wonderful few days with Jemima, walking her beautiful dogs Bella and Lulu and tidying around the house. Thank you for everything Jemima! Will definitely be returning when possible.

It was a really great experience spending time with Maike, Arne and Aurelia. We are grateful that we could stay in their beautiful home and we can truly recommend visiting them! In the two weeks we spent with them, we organized and cleaned the kitchen furniture, cooked a bit, babysitted their lovely, super intelligent and strong-willed daughter Auri, and took care of the rabbits. We also did some renovating tasks in the palace which was such a fun task for us. We had plenty of free time to explore their village, take walks around the lake, visit Rostock and other nearby cities like Schwerin and even Hamburg. One weekend they also took us to Rostock and showed us around:) They were so welcoming and open through our entire stay. Always up for giving us advices, having deep conversations, sharing memories and knowledge. Thank you Arne and Maike for this opportunity!

I enjoyed my one-week stay at Teddy and his family's house very much! It was my first Workaday and I had a really good experience. They are a warm and loving family who made me feel accepted and at ease. They are so kindhearted and interesting. They have an amazing house, which they are passionate about. The kids are very sweet and spontaneous and accepted me as their friend quickly. I liked the countryside experience and felt nourished when returning home. I would love to go back and stay with you again!

Yeah, where can I begin? By saying my stay at Meli's beautiful home will be one I will remember and cherish forever. I stayed at Meli's place for 6 weeks and I had a wonderful time. The work is easy, the hospitality is beyond amazing. I lived together with other WorkAwayers and sometimes with Meli herself when she was home. It really felt like a community-living to me and at the same time we were also doing our own things. It was a great balance and I had so much fun! I not only made human friends but also fur friends, each and everyone of them I bonded with in a special way. The house is equipped with everything you can think of. It's also a beautiful place, surrounded with nature, birds, other beautiful creatures that live in this beautiful country. I woke up every day with the sound of Tucáns. The worktasks itself were easy, I like taking care of dogs a lot, two times a day feeding them and the only one that needs walks is Sunny. The rest of the pack does their own thing. Playing with Vigo is amazing, since he is an energy ball and very playful. Dear Meli, thank you so much for your hospitality and your friendliness! Hasta Luego See You Soon! Melanie

Seven months late and just before my Workaway subscription expires, I would like to give my feedback on my experience with Michelle. In August 2025, I visited Michelle and her daughter (and their dogs <3) for what was unfortunately far too short a time (1.5 weeks). I felt completely at home from the very first second! My main job was to look after a friend of hers' house and dog. She took me everywhere she could and showed me nature, making an effort to get me out of the house, although it's also a wonderful place to spend the day and relax. Michelle is a wonderful and humorous person and I hope you all are doing well! Sending lot's of love from the other side of the planet :)

What an amazing experience I have had! I spent 3 weeks with Marga and found it to be an incredibly enriching time. The kids are so sweet, friendly and bright! I felt I was really able to get involved, hopefully helping to further their education. Although I have worked with children in schools prior, I learned so much from Marga. She is so experienced and it is so clear see how much she adores and cares for the kids. Her student, Adeesha, was lovely to work alongside- extremely kind and organised. Aside from the teaching, I had a wonderful time staying in Galle. Being half-Sri Lanka myself, I loved settling here for a few weeks and having the ability to get to know this area a bit more. I enjoyed my mornings wondering around Galle Fort, staying in Hikkaduwa for a weekend, and swimming at the beach in Unawatuna. I especially loved the Hot hot roti man in Galle Fort for egg roti and watching the sunset. What a privilege the last few weeks have been! Aside from her wonderful teaching skills, Marga is an amazing lady with such an inspiring, positive outlook on life. I feel so incredibly lucky to have lived with her for a short time. My only regret is not staying longer! I think staying 4 weeks and over is ideal. This gives enough time to settle in, get to know the curriculum and students for a bit longer. Thank you so much Marga for having me to stay!

I enjoyed staying here for seven weeks, during which time I helped with a variety of construction and gardening tasks. The house is well-equipped to tackle all sorts of jobs, which made my life easier. This workaway is up in the mountains, sometimes stormy but not too cold in winter. Outside of winter I imagine it will be a cool relief from temperatures down on the coast. The hosts here are wonderful, very hospitable with two lovely dogs. We ate a big breakfast around 11am and a delicious home-cooked dinner around 6 or 7pm. Volunteer tasks were relaxed and there was plenty of time to chill before and after work, with tea or coffee. We had a lot of interesting conversations about Türkiye and travelling. The hosts have also gone out of their way to help me with things I needed to sort out in Türkiye, which I could not have achieved without their help and experience.

This was my first volunteer experience, and I honestly couldn’t have chosen a better place. Everything I was looking for in this kind of experience, I found on the farm. Mathias is an amazing person with a lot of life experience and a very multicultural background. He’s the kind of person who has lived in different places and has many stories to share. Also, Mathias is a great cook. I had the chance to enjoy his Mediterranean-style meals, and meals were always a good moment to talk, hear stories, and share experiences. The farm itself is a special place. During my time there, I took care of the chickens, cats, and dogs, worked in the fields, and got involved in the daily routines of farm life. I also had the chance to bring products from the farm to sell at the organic market, which was a really nice experience. More than that, it felt like being part of a living project. The environment was also very interesting culturally. I had the chance to hear a bit of French sometimes, and I spoke Portuguese, Spanish, English, and Italian while I was there. I spent about one month with Mathias and around two months with the farm team and other volunteers, for a total of about three and a half months. If you’re looking for a real volunteer experience, this is definitely a great place. I want to say thank you to Mathias, with whom I shared many great moments, and to the whole farm team. Also thanks to Mathias' kids and their friends. I learned a lot of Italian with them. And also thanks to the chickens, who taught me a lot about discipline — especially Claudinea, the chicken who somehow managed to escape and come back almost every day. :D

I had an excellent time with the other volunteers and the crew. The boat is really well located right next to casco vello. The work itself during my time there was a mixture of moving around materials and painting, it was nice to see the boat progressing during my time there. The crew were all very friendly and helpful which helped the experience a lot and I found it very useful expanding my own spanish vocab, all contributing to an unforgettable experience with cherry in top being sailing out into the estuary.

Positives: · Patty's cooking is pretty good. · The landscape is beautiful. · The animals are all lovely (I'm really going to miss them). · You can learn construction techniques, like mixing cement. Negatives: · During the four days that I stayed with Patty and Hans I didn't learn a single thing about food forests, permaculture, edible / medicinal plants or about gardening. Which is the main attraction being advertised. Instead, I chopped wood, carried wood, mixed cement and filled holes with cement, weeded out a patch of land and carried gravel and rocks around. I didn't mind doing all of that, and I did it with enthusiasm, but what's advertised is far from accurate. · You don't really get to learn much about the local culture since Patty and Hans live pretty much in their bubble and seem to only interact with the local community for the bare minimum (although they do seem to interact with other Dutch expats living in Spain, so if you're interested in Dutch culture this might be a good place to visit). #redacted#, so this makes sense, even though they've been living in Spain for 4 years. Hans isn't interested in learning Spanish at all. If you're expecting to get immersed in Galician culture, this isn't the place for you. All of the above was made completely irrelevant for me when I learned that they're #redacted# (after mentioning that I was boycotting certain corporations for their involvement in the Gaza genocide). It was a huge shock to me as I definitely wasn't expecting to encounter foreign #redacted# hosts in Spain, #redacted# . This was the reason why the 2 week stay that we had initially agreed to had to be cut short. Upon learning this about them I couldn't stay any longer, so I ended up volunteering for them for 4 days, as I wasn't willing to stay another hour or be of any further help to people who claim that there is NO genocide going on in Palestine. Had I known this beforehand, I'd had never come to their property. I guess it's on me for not asking beforehand, but I truly couldn't have imagined that this would be the case. For me personally, that warrants a 1 star review, but if you're a #redacted# you might have no problem helping people who have no qualms with the genocide and mass murder of millions of people (most of which are children) in Palestine. That's why I'm leaving it at 2 stars, they might be worth your time depending on how morally bankrupt you happen to be. Needless to say, my first workaway experience was quite jarring. Still, at least I got to experience Galicia for a bit after I left, and it truly is a wonderful region of Spain. People there are reserved but, from what little I could experience, very kind and generous. The landscapes are beautiful.

Amani now is a family member to us. I think our whole family will send him invitations for family meetings and functions 😀. He was very cool, open minded, and very attentive and mature for his age. He can play guitar and sing as well. He is the best company you can have in our slow farm. He accompanied in cooking and is good at it. He tagged with another volunteer and made gnocchi and a wonderful cake for my daughters birthday. He is sincere in everyday farm chores. He helped in grazing goats, assisted in building new hut, mulching and watering the plants, and playing with the kids. We all had a wonderful time together and we will miss him everyday. We wish him all the very best and we pray nature to protect him by all means. Love from Reengaram forest family.

I lived for six weeks during winter (January and February) on Lasqueti Island with Katrina, Kristos, and Zephyr for my first Workaway experience, and it was amazing. I learned about permaculture, off-grid living, and cooking! Kristos is fluent in French and English and is very patient and passionate about plants. He is always ready to explain and answer any questions about his experience in agriculture. Katrina is passionate about food, music, dance, and nature, and she brings good energy to the house. The cabin where you live is 30 meters from the main house. You have a big comfortable bed with a view of nature and the stars, water, and a wood stove. A typical day (but no two days are ever the same!): 8 a.m.: Walk around the house to see the sunrise. 8:30 a.m.: Open the chicken coop, feed the chickens, clean the chicken coop, and collect fresh eggs. 9-11 a.m.: Breakfast, cooking, dishes, play with Zéphyr. 11 a.m.-4 p.m.: Nursery with Kristos (transplanting, repotting, cleaning, and tasting some vegetables). 4-6 p.m.: Sauna time, or dancing, or coming back home for a shower and helping Katrina with the (delicious) dinner. 7 p.m.: time off at the cabin. Lasqueti Island is a magical place. You need to be ready to slow down, appreciate, and respect nature. Kat and Kristos are sharing their life, and it's an intense and wonderful experience. Thanks for this part of my life. 💛 Helpers, if you want to know more before this experience, don't hesitate to send me a private message. ✉️

We had a great time hosting Annslee, she is a very independent person with a sly sense of humour, and not afraid of hard work! She stokes a mean fire (we had a lot of branches and garden refuse to burn!) and was always keen to help. Along with her friend Abi, they were really great with our animals and very dependable people, the types that you can always count on. They made great friends with the other volunteers, and movie and game nights were really fun. Annslee expressed a lot of gratitude for her stay with us, but it was us that were the lucky ones to host her. We hope to see her again one day!

We loved hosting Abi! She is super chilled, very proactive, hardworking, extremely capable, and great company. Our dogs really loved her as well, which is always a huge plus. She was always keen to help and never had to be asked to do anything as by the time you turned around she was already halfway through the task! She got on really well with everyone and loved movie nights and hanging out. Abi was an absolute pleasure to host and we hope to see her again! Be sure to have her volunteer by you, she is the ultimate workaway!

Zsófi is such a ray of sunshine! What a lovely person to have around, she has a great sense of humour and is very interesting to chat to. We had a lot of fun hosting her. She was very happy to dive in to any task, and very easygoing. She got on extremely well with the other workaways. Highly recommend hosting Zsófi, and we hope to cross paths with her again one day!
