My first workaway was an amazing experience here! Being in nature and doing meaningfull tasks is exactly what I needed and the host was very supportive and giving me and the other workaway the tasks that fit us best. One time while at the lunch I said "it almost feels like I am at a resort" because the food was very tasty, (I did like to add some of the amazing Italian cheeses myself for the protein :) The host was always ready to awnser my questions so I learned a lot, also for when I wanted to explore the area and find some local produce. In the end I am most proud ot the chicken "caravan" that I built which will host a host a rare local chicken breed! It is almost finished and I hope any future workawayer can enjoy a tasty egg.

In the two weeks with Mel we got a lot of things done. Especially the pruning and weeding in the garden and olive grove was a great help. All the best for your future journey.

George stayed with us for one month. We found him to be very helpful and attentive. He is always open to helping in any way he can, but also knows how to communicate his limits in a positive way. He mainly helped us clear bushes on a piece of land, but he also helped us with painting, putting up shelves and working in the greenhouse. George is also a good cook! He does his work responsibly and carefully. We appreciated his respectful but honest way of addressing issues. He is a pleasant person with whom you can have good, in-depth discussions, but also just have fun. We had a great time with George and we recommend him!

Fun, entertaining, and always up for a long conversation, Luca brought a really positive and relaxed energy to the farm. We shared many fun and cultural talks, and his sense of humor and stories made every day lighter. He helped us on video editing and social media stuff. Thank you so much for all your support and presence during your stay.. it was a pleasure hosting you and we wish you all the best on your journey!

Moa stayed for a few days and was a lovely cheerful helper I really enjoys having her. She was so helpful with all the chores and tasks. Thank you Moa! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.

Mircoo was an amazing volunteer to host. He is super hard‑working, sincere and brings very good permaculture knowledge. He shared practical ideas (like soil improvement, mulching and plant structure ideas) and helped move the project forward in a thoughtful way. I’d be happy to host him again and highly recommend him to other hosts.

Jérôme and Aurélia were an absolute delight to host! Aurélia brought tremendous energy and care to a range of indoor tasks — mopping floors, vacuuming, repotting rootbound plants, and cleaning the kitchen. Jérôme tackled outdoor work with real skill and pride, mowing lawns and refurbishing outdoor furniture to a fabulous standard. Both are keen to improve their English and made every effort to communicate and connect — but I have to say, hearing them chat away together in French was an unexpected joy for me... their chatter had such a wonderful musical quality to it! These guys are a warm, hard-working couple with great initiative and they just radiate positive energy. I'd welcome them back without hesitation and recommend them wholeheartedly to any future host. We spent a bit over a week with Stewart and Robyn and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip! The two were very welcoming, the tasks are very doable and hours flexible and the area where they live is full of nature gems like beaches, swimming holes and lovely bush walks. This alone would already have made for a nice stay, but Stewart did even more than a regular host: he often showed us around beautiful places to swim and snorkel, did day trips with us and shared his immense knowledge of the local flora and fauna. Robyn cooked for us several times and always treated us to some ice cream for dessert! :) We thoroughly enjoyed our time with you and would like to say thank you again!

My partner and I were lucky to look after Wally (Lachlan and Julie’s dog) over a weekend while staying at their beautiful property in a converted caravan. Wally is a super sweet and happy dog and it was a pleasure to look after him. Lachlan and Julie then let us stay a few extra days where we helped out with a bit of cleaning. The work was manageable and we got clear instructions. Lachlan and Julie are friendly, easy-going and easy to communicate with.

Valentina was a wonderful volunteer and we truly appreciated having her here. From the very beginning she showed an impressive learning curve; quickly picked up new tasks, and adapted to our off-grid lifestyle which made working together easy and enjoyable. She was responsible, attentive, and approached her work with a positive attitude. She showed great interest and respect for the ecosystem around the farm and was always mindful of the natural environment we are trying to protect here. Valentina also cared a lot about our pets — she was kind and attentive with the dogs; took them on long walks regularly and paid attention to their needs. In the day to day routine she kept the shared areas clean and organized and was always considerate of the space and the people around her. On top of that, she was reliable and proactive, often noticing what needed to be done and taking initiative without needing to be asked. Overall, Valentina was a pleasure to host. We would happily welcome her back anytime and can confidently recommend her to any future hosts.

She is a 21-year-old American who stayed with us for a little over two months. Although there is an age difference between us, she is very intelligent and we were able to have many interesting and enjoyable conversations. She learns extremely quickly and conducted lessons with almost no mistakes. She also showed great ability in creating teaching materials. After I explained the process only once, she was able to understand immediately and create most of the materials independently. During these two months, thanks to her, our lessons became very fulfilling and enjoyable. She brought great energy and support to the classroom. In my personal life as well, I truly enjoyed the many conversations we shared. She is also very good at cooking. One day she cooked tacos for us, and they were absolutely delicious. Although she is young, she is highly intelligent and very skilled with computers. It is not easy to find someone with her level of ability, responsibility, and enthusiasm. I feel very lucky that she chose to stay and work with us. I am truly grateful for her time here. Thank you Margaux!

Highly recommended! A wonderful family where I immediately felt at home. Erik and Emma were so helpful, there were freshly prepared dinners, homemade bread, lovely conversations, a hike together with the baby in a carrier, newly hatched chicks, and much more. Eleven-month-old Heidi was very cheerful and quickly felt comfortable in my presence. My working hours were very flexible and pleasant!

I spent a month living with Philip, Xiang, Jaid and Jayden. Philip loves talking with you and knowing more about your culture, tradition and your country. He is really easygoing, you don't have to be worried about anything. For any question you have, you can ask him and he is more than glad to help you. Staying with Philip you can learn a lot about cooking. He can make delicious dishes, especially Chinese ones. Xiang is really nice, I learnt a lot about Chinese culture talking with him. He and Philip also helped me with my English any time I had questions about it. Jaid and Jayden are two beautiful girls, they love each other and they're always kind with you too. They're worried about you and want to spend some time playing or asking you a lot of questions. I spent with them some real nice time. If you're full of energy, those two girls are the perfect match for you. Jayden and Jaid are always themselves, kind, respectful and so curious because Philip and Xiang are teaching them to be like that in a wonderful and spontaneous way. I enjoyed every day of my month with them. I felt like I was home, thank you for everything.

Pasamos un mes fabuloso aquí. Lo mejor fue la gente: los clientes, sus papás, los demás Workawayers y, por supuesto, el personal peruano. El lugar es como un oasis en el desierto, con muchos árboles y plantas. Nos adaptamos a una routine de cuidado de la propiedad y los anímales, así como de asistencia con las sesiones de los clientes. Nos sentimos que entregamos al equipo con bastante facilidad. Disfrutamos yendo al mercado cercano para comprar alimentos frescos, y es fácil para ir al centro de Tacna a pie o en taxi. Nunca olvidaremos las experiencias que tuvimos allí, y es la única vez que lloramos al dejar un Workaway! Gracias especialmente a Leti por darle una oportunidad a una pareja mayor y creer en nosotros! Abrazos a todos!

would like to warn other hosts about a volunteer named Romi. During his stay with us, he showed a very poor attitude. He was extremely #redacted#, constantly complained about tasks, and showed no respect towards the host, the manager, or other volunteers. His way of speaking was very rude, frequently using vulgar language and swearing with the word “#redacted#”, even when speaking directly to me. His main task was to produce video content, but after almost two weeks staying with us, he still failed to deliver a single video. His behaviour also negatively influenced other volunteers, and one volunteer even decided to leave earlier because they felt uncomfortable with the situation. Mary did not create major problems herself, but she mostly followed Romi’s decisions. Based on this experience, I strongly advise other hosts to be cautious before accepting this volunteer.

I initially volunteered here for 3 weeks, but had such a good experience that I returned two more times in January and February. Ms Thu and her family, the staff, the other volunteers and the children were all incredibly welcoming. I miss them all dearly, and hope to return in the near future if they would have me back. When I first arrived, having no experience in teaching or working with children with special needs, I was a little nervous and unsure. Luckily the staff and other volunteers were very helpful and within a few days I was really enjoying it. Some good advice would be to go in with an open mind and a lot of patience, some of your ideas won't land, but that it's okay and to keep trying and make sure to have fun, as then the kids enjoy it more. The schedule is split between morning and afternoon lessons with the autistic children (class size varies between 5-10), and evening classes with small groups of kids, teenagers or adults (the biggest group was 4 while I was there- these lessons were a lot of fun). Between you and the other volunteers you will work a mix of these, but it is never too much, and there is plenty of time between classes to relax or explore hanoi. The food provided for lunch and dinner always tasted amazing. On weekends, I went to Cat Ba island and Ninh Binh and there are a couple of other destinations within easy reach of Hanoi. The one slight problem I had (which I have had many times while travelling Asia) is that the bed was too short for me (I am 6foot3), meaning it wasn't the most comfortable but I soon got used to it and was sleeping fine. Thank you again to Ms Thu and your family, to the staff and other volunteers for allowing me to have such a good experience where I learnt so much. I only wish I could have stayed longer. If you go in with a positive attitude, patience and a passion for helping others, I think you will have a really worthwhile and special experience.

I had the best 2½ weeks staying with Anne- Maree, Colin and Elijah on Mayne Island. I originally planned to stay for just one week but I ended up staying much longer because I enjoyed my time there so much. From the moment I arrived they welcomed me so warmly and made me feel at home right away and truly like part of the family. Most of the time I helped Anne Maree with organizing and sorting things around the house which I really enjoyed. Working together with her was always fun and easy and she always made sure that I didn’t work too much and had enough time to explore the island as well. She showed me around Mayne Island, took me to different beaches and around the village and they included me when meeting friends, so I got to meet many lovely people. I was also lucky enough to join them on some trips, including to Vancouver and Vancouver Island which was an amazing experience. Communication was always easy and everything was very relaxed and flexible which made me feel very comfortable and safe during my stay. I also stayed in a beautiful, spacious suite with an incredible view of the ocean which made the experience even more special. Lastly, I just want to say thank you for this very special time. It was truly valuable to me, I learned a lot and had such a wonderful experience. I’m really grateful that I got to meet you and stay with you, and I would love to come back if I ever get the chance again. I’m very grateful for the time I spent there and would absolutely recommend staying with Anne-Maree, Colin and Elijah.

Rune looked after my place while I was away for a week. He's a lovely guy. Friendly, interesting, respectful and willing to help as much as possible. He did all the jobs I asked of him, and kept the house safe and kept in touch with me. Thanks for coming to stay and your help Rune, highly recommended!
