We had the best time staying for 2 weeks on the farm. The family were so kind and friendly and the property was beautiful. The work was very enjoyable and varied, and the family always made sure we had enough breaks. There was lots to do in surrounding area on days off, and the food cooked by Absara was always delicious. Thank you to Riky, Rupa, Dhurba, Sarita, Anil and the whole family for sharing your lovely home and culture with us. We wish we could have stayed longer and hope we can return in the future. We miss spending time with Adi! Also shout out to Potato, Dolphin, Washington and Atchi - the cutest dogs ever ❤️

Willem is such a social, open-minded, adaptable, calm and reliable person! We had such great conversations, lots of sharings, and great time with him. He helped us in planting and weeding in the rice fields, and some daily chores such as collecting the duck eggs and weighing them, cleaning the farm areas etc. Also, he sometimes helped Captain to rebuild/renovate the bamboo house when there’s less work in the rice fields. He is social and seems to like to interacting with the people, so he often join converstions with locals or the guests from Malaysia, or anyone coming to the farm. During his stay, we had Captain’s birthday party to celebrate his 60th birthday. Willem secretly prepared some songs for Captain, and celebrated with his singing and playing the guitar. It was such a lovely and thoughtful surprise for us! We really appreciate to him. If you get an apply message from him, we really recommend to welcome him to your amazing project! This time, we couldn’t have chance to meet his girlfriend though, we hope we can meet and have both of them next time! 😊 Thank you so much for coming all the way to the jungle in Malaysia(he came to Malaysia literally only for joining our farm!!), helping and learning with us, and having such a lovely time with us. Come back anytime and makan makan! 😊 Terima kasih!

It was really nice having Dante and his best friend Gennaro. They are really nice company and very good help. Enthusiastic and happy to learn and work on any project. Also very good communication, they are very tidy and fun. We did a lot in 2 weeks and I showed them around in the area. I love to see them again and work together on new projects, maybe next year!

Sue stayed with us for a month and did a fantastic job spring-cleaning our four holiday apartments. She worked thoroughly, enthusiastically, and with great attention to detail, also the blinds! As I was busy preparing for exams during her stay, she worked independently most of the time, apart from some gardening that we did together. She was very responsible, trustworthy, and reliable throughout her stay. All of that was wonderful, but the best thing about hosting Sue, was that Sue was Sue! She is a genuinely lovely person, funny, kind, and sweet, and always ready for a dance, a round of Duolingo, or a board game. She is now in the Derby Family Book of Records and learned the game faster than anyone else, and she was such fun to play with, even though she lost;-) We also enjoyed watching Eurovision together late into the night. During her stay, Sue enthusiastically joined us in the Village Competition, taking several rounds of cycling, walking, and running. If we win this year, it will be thanks to Sue's contribution! Sue also has a wonderful sense of humour and is curios and always interested in learning new things and getting involved. She is a great cook and treated us to a delicious Korean meal, which we really enjoyed. Thank you for your time, Sue. It was truly appreciated, and I am very grateful for all your hard work and help during your stay. Thank you for sharing our confirmation celebration with us. It was very special to have you there, and it is a day we will never forget. Finally two very important things: NEVER brush your teeth before a Eurovision show and ALWAYS notice what type of coffee a man orders I can warmly recommend Sue. If she ever knocks on your door, open it—you will not regret it. We thoroughly enjoyed having Sue with us and would welcome her back any time.

What a great time at Donald's place to experience Sabah culture!!! We stayed with Donald and Winnie's family homestay for a month. It was a wonderful, truly authentic experience, and we thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent here with this two beautiful, kind and generous souls. During our stay, we had a private room, bathroom, and fully equipped kitchen all to ourselves, which, as long-term travelers, is something we greatly appreciated. Our help with their project was varied, free, and flexible, allowing us to choose how to participate in whatever came up at the homestay. We generally helped for two or three hours a day, during week days in the morning and some of the things we help on were cleaning up construction debris, replanting trees, removing the tarp covered with dry leaves from the pergola, building a compost bin with recycled materials, preparing some rooms for guests, and helping to build a brick staircase with cement. Always in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. On our days off, usually weekends, we rented a motorbike or took a Grab to visit some places, or we simply enjoyed the tranquility of the house. Despite being busy with their building construction project for the new accommodation, Donald and Winnie were always attentive to our needs. They took the time to take us shopping when we needed it, invited us to breakfast at their favorite Tom Yam's spot, and took us for evening strolls in the cultural village where the harvest festival was taking place. They also had us try different local foods and dishes on several occasions, ensuring we had an authentic local experience and took away with us the best memories of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. They even helped us organize a trip along the Bongawan River with their friend. And as if that weren't enough, Donald went out of his way to pick us up from the airport in the evening when we arrived and drop us off at the bus station in the morning when we left. Donald and family, we only have words of gratitude for your kindness and warmth in welcoming us into your traditional home. We wish you all the best and you are always welcome in Argentina whenever we're in the area, haha. Big hugs!

My stay with Lio and her lovely family was everything I could have hoped for. Lio was always very responsive and super helpful when I was planning my trip and was kind enough to pick me up from Montlucon. I really enjoyed the work in the garden in amongst spending time with the girls and spending nights hanging out with Lio and Sanne. Lio cooked super yummy food and catered for my celiac diet which I really appreciated. She is very flexible with working hours and I felt like I had a nice balance. I would 100% recommend staying here and I will definitely be coming back!

We had a truly amazing experience at Bine and Dag’s wonderful little farm. They were so kind, welcoming and genuinely good hearted people. We enjoyed helping them with various tasks and are grateful for learning from them and their lifestyle. The tasks we did ranged from planting vegetables, removing weeds, spreading manure, fixing fences as well as many more! While we were working, Bine and Dag joined us whenever they could and we had wonderful conversations. All tasks varied a lot and were interesting to do. We enjoyed helping as much as we could and felt at home. Bine and Dag really made sure we were having a good time and didn’t overwork ourselves. They made the best homemade food and their Pizza and Focaccia is phenomenal. We enjoyed the conversations we had and we are forever grateful for all the skills we learned. Their animals are so amazing, and we got to ride the horses which we will never forget. We can definitely recommend to stay with this lovely couple! All in all we were sad to leave and would love to visit and help again! We are so grateful for everything!!!

I had a wonderful 10 day stay at Rewilding. Ollie and his family were extremely welcoming and appreciative to have me there helping. I got a tour of the property and a briefing on what type of work I’d be doing, and was able to jump right in the next day. Being able to cull invasives and plant natives is very rewarding work! Ollie’s accommodation has everything you might need and more. And a beautiful view as an added bonus!

I spent two weeks with the Sunims, and while the first few days were a bit disorienting (my first Workaway, my first meditations, Hye Wol’s absence to guide me, a miscommunication on my part about the dates, and some issues due to the barried language ), I quickly settled into the rhythm of life at the meditation center. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, if you’re curious about meditation and the Ānāpānasati method, I can’t recommend this place enough. Today, it’s a tool that stays with me daily, helping me ground myself in the present (even if I’m still a beginner and not the most consistent.) What truly surprised and inspired me was their way of life : simple, intentional, and deeply sustainable. If you’re interested in learning about self-sufficiency, mindfulness, or sustainable living, this is the perfect place for you. The work itself was a joy — outdoors, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. Sometimes a bit hard, but the sunims always make sure than you didnt feel exhaustion or make too much. Life at the temple was incredibly comfortable : a private room, amazing food (with vegetarian and vegan options), and a freedom to move and act as I pleased — nothing was mandatory except the work, and days off allowed me to explore if I needed a break. If I have one regret, it’s that my stay was far too short. The connections I made and the lessons I learned were so meaningful that I wish I could have stayed longer. I will definetely come back. Thank you for everything — this experience will stay with me forever.

If you plan on joining an extraordinary family, with a lot of projects, ideas, creativity, this is the right place to go to. They have been very welcoming and I felt right at home. They will definitely help you in whatever wishes you have : hikes, learning Norwegian, cooking, learning about gardening, mushrooms and many more things. They have a lot of knowledge and love to have deep chats around tea, dinner or even a board game. I couldn’t have asked to land in a better family. This may was the perfect escape I needed in nature.

I spent about three weeks at Pat's home in Gibsons. She was very kind to host me on short notice. I mainly did work in her beautiful garden: weeding, cutting blackberry; but also helped with various smaller tasks like putting nails into the boardwalk, cleaning solar panels or spending time with her two sweet cats! In my freetime I could explore Gibsons and the surroundings. Sometimes, Pat was able to drop me off/pick me up somewhere and to show me around in the area. I was also able to do day trips to Vancouver. The studio that I stayed in was very comfortable and had everything that I needed. Pat is a very active woman and knows many people on the Sunshine Coast. She took me to some music events that were going on. Thank you again for hosting me!

It’s Dan and I’s first workaway together, and we’re happy we stayed at Slava’s place. We only volunteered for a week, but we would have stayed longer if we had the time. Slava was very helpful and generous. He always made sure we had everything we needed to feel comfortable. The work was easy and quite therapeutic. We worked 3 hrs a day at the farm with a mountain view, then we’re free to explore the rest of the day. Slava also always offered a glass of wine after work. He even made us reaaally good pizza and quail roast after his tours, and had nice conversations with him while sharing food. One time, he lent us some of his bicycles and we biked around to see the beautiful mountains at sunset. Overall, we’re grateful we got to experience volunteering here, and it’s definitely one of our favorite places in Kazakhstan.

Dearest Leisa and Tim, Where to start? We feel beyond grateful to have spend our first weeks of our trip in Australia in the lovely Lovett Bay. There was no better way of starting our trip. From the second we've arrived we felt at ease and at home. There's no way for thanking you enough for the wonderful time we've had together! You are both such warm and generous people with a big heart and interest in others. We had a lot of fun helping you clean up the apartment. We've learnt new skills and enjoyed the good mix of hard work and free time where we could explore and do our own thing. The food was absolutely exquisite. Both of you are excellent chefs! Always happy to make us vegetarian meals, which we devoured with great relish. Also the environment is absolutely stunning! With lots of wallabies and birds, we weren't bored for a second. Tim, thank you for sharing your knowledge and stories with us. We really enjoyed your gentle company and learned a lot from you! Always there to help, with always a good sarcastic joke up your sleeve. Leisa, thank you for your sweetness, your warmth, your genuine interest... It has been such a pleasure meeting you. With your bright smile and your sparkling eyes, your energy is unmatched! Thank you for being you. You are 2 beautiful souls with an enormous spirit for life. We would have loved to have learned more about you and the crazy adventures you've done. You are a real inspiration to us ❤️ We hope we will be back soon to catch up and have a good time together! Thank you for creating a safe space where we could be ourselves and feel comfortable at all time. Speak soon! Lots of love, Oscar & Flore

My stay with Jupita, Daniel, and little Williem was a truly wonderful experience. They are kind, welcoming, and friendly people who made me feel like part of their family from the very beginning. Thanks to them, I had the opportunity to experience everyday life in a warm family atmosphere and learn more about the Batak culture in Indonesia. I really admire their mission focused on ecology, education, and preserving the Batak cultural community. It is inspiring to see how much passion and care they put into their work and their local community. I truly hope their meaningful project will continue to grow and flourish in the future. Thank you again for your kindness, hospitality, and all the beautiful memories. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to discover authentic local culture and meet amazing people.
