Louis stayed for about four weeks and brought energy, discipline and openness into daily life. He is hardworking, physically capable and willing to take responsibility for the tasks given. He follows routines well and shows respect in shared living spaces. Although still young, he demonstrated maturity in taking responsibility and contributing consistently. Like many active young people, he could get tired during demanding periods, but he handled routines and expectations well. Louis is very direct and open in communication, which can feel intense at times, but it is always honest and well-intended — something I appreciate. His English continues to develop, and he made clear progress during his stay, which was one of his intentions. Overall, Louis contributed very positively both to the work and to the social atmosphere. It was rewarding to see his openness to growth and new experiences, and he left a strong and positive impression here. It is encouraging to see young people take responsibility and step out of their comfort zone in this way. I will always fins a space for Louis and whom he might like to bring.

Tiaki, Madelin, Tāwhai and Māhina make up an incredibly special family. Each of them received us with an open heart from the moment we arrived and continued to make us feel like family with every passing day. Our conversations with Tiaki and Madelin were inspiring and connective and playtime with Māhina and Tāwhai brought us so much joy... it was very hard to leave and we have been missing them ever since. Our little cabin was cute, cozy and clean with gorgeous views over the bush and river. The land is magical and feels as though it's holding you with 360 views. Eating delicious and healthy meals together on their deck and overlooking the mountains was definitely a highlight. The work was varied and involved painting the yurt, gardening, harvesting potatoes and childcare. All of which we enjoyed, knowing it was contributing to this beautiful, off grid lifetsyle. Tiaki and Madelin were really flexible with our hours to accomodate our plans assuming it met our 24 hours per week. No words can describe the experience we were blessed to have here with this family. We would recommend this stay to anyone who is looking for meaningful work and real connections. Thank you for everything, we cannot wait to visit again. Lots of love from Rosie and Ethan

We’re writing this review much later than we should have, but we still remember Kenneth with a lot of appreciation and cariño. He brought great energy to the finca and had such a good attitude from day one. He was easygoing, respectful, and very willing to help with whatever was needed. We really valued his disposition and the way he embraced the experience, especially helping with gardening and coffee picking. He has a calm, thoughtful presence that fits perfectly in a natural setting like ours. Thank you, Kenneth, for the time you shared with us — we remember you warmly and wish you all the best in your next adventures.

Julia was a delight to have stay with us. She was kind and considerate to the animals, always willing to help and get involved and really took initiative. She was a great addition to have around and even if it was only a short time, she will be very missed!

Szabolcs stayed for a period of a month and was a genuinely kind-hearted and helpful presence in the house. He has a calm and gentle nature and consistently showed willingness to contribute to daily tasks. He was open about not being the fastest worker, and that honesty and self-awareness made cooperation constructive and respectful. He works steadily and carefully, with good intentions and commitment. Hosting and living closely together requires clear communication and mutual understanding. People have different rhythms and working styles, and respectful dialogue makes shared life both manageable and meaningful. Szabolcs is thoughtful, sincere and considerate in shared living spaces, and he contributes in a reliable and positive way. Cultural exchange at its best is a mutual learning process. He would be welcome back anytime. We shared many good conversations and plenty of laughter. I really enjoyed this stay.

Kira and Lilly were amazing! They came when the sun was really hot and we were not doing alot of gardening. And we had many projects going on. So not alot of one-on-ones. But they found activities and brought a warm and genuine care for the space. We shared great conversations. And many great meals together. Thank you so much for your embrace. Welcome again.

Hosting means sharing daily life closely — both practical tasks and everyday routines. Experiences will naturally vary depending on personality, cultural background and expectations. My intention as a host is to create an open, respectful and culturally enriching environment, while maintaining clear expectations around responsibility, cooperation and consideration for shared living spaces. Mutual respect, consideration and a sense of personal boundaries are essential when living closely together. I value cultural exchange deeply and appreciate the personal growth that can arise — for both guests and hosts.

Dennise spent 3 weeks at our place and we couldn’t have dreamt of a better experience ! She is a very independent, social, fun and reliable person. She was always around and ready to help, either with the kids (playing with them and speaking Spanish to them) or with the daily chores (cooking/washing the dishes/doing the laundry). In a blink of an eye, she became part of the family and her happy voice greeting our children with « amorcito corazón » can still be heard in our home ! She enjoyed cooking traditional meals from Ecuador and it was a pleasure to discover those new tastes. Flexible, reliable, easygoing and fun : don’t miss the chance to meet and host that young lady, she is a gem ! Gracias Dennise, eres siempre bienvenida en nuestra casa cuando quieras pasar por aquí de nuevo, te esperamos todos los 5 !

We had such a wonderful experience hosting Maya. She was absolutely fantastic with our kids — patient, kind, and very engaging. Using her teacher approach, she taught our young kids new skills and encouraged good manners in a gentle and positive way. Maya is also a great cook and brought so much joy to our home through food. We loved experiencing dishes from around the world, including Japanese, Mexican and American foods. Additionally our kids loved baking all sorts of yummy treats with her. Beyond that, she was highly reliable with household duties and always happy to help wherever needed. She brought a fun, positive energy into our home and was simply great to be around. We would warmly welcome her back anytime and highly recommend her to any future hosts.

Our stay at Souarni’s house was so great ! We really enjoyed playing with the children and walking the dog to the beach every morning ☀️ Liam always has so much to teach, and so does Souarni. They showed us beautiful places in the area, and we felt very comfortable in this lovely city. Thank you again for welcoming us into your beautiful family! Margot & Mathis

Wow, where to begin! … I have spent an unforgettable month in El Kelaa with the most amazing people and I can’t believe it went by so quickly! Volunteering at the school 🦉 has been an incredible experience. Navigating a language barrier can be very humbling, but in the best way! I’ve really enjoyed the challenge of adapting to each student and learning so much about everyone. The staff and students at the school are all such lovely people and were incredibly warm and welcoming. All of the volunteers became like family, we had so many days filled with laughter. Rachid, the volunteers guide, welcomed us and made the experience extra special, showing us all the best spots around the city, and bringing the best homemade cous cous from his mum - shukran bzef Jamila! I have made a lifetime of memories, but some special ones include; watching sunsets from the rooftop, visiting the mosque, going to hammam (it was so beautiful to see all the women, washing each other and washing us when we looked confused!), being invited into people’s homes to share food (it’s unbelievable how welcoming everyone is, people are just sooo lovely!), midnight Darija lessons with Said, painting a mural on the rooftop with all the kids, and countless more!! 🌝❤️❤️💕 As a young solo-female traveler, I felt very safe in El Kelaa, but do be prepared to be stared at a lot, it’s a very un-touristy place so people are mainly curious what you’re doing there. Also if you come in winter bring warm clothes as the villa can be pretty cold at night! My main advice is to be open, to try speaking in Darija (it’s surprising how many friends a few phrases will make you!), and to go with the relaxed flow - last minute plans have been some of the best!

Vit was a breath of fresh air. He reminded us of the importance of staying grounded. Because he came at a time when we had alot of projects. But Vit always found time flto engage in communication, and to share deep insights about life. Your wild presence is welcome again and again.

Merci Zohra :)
