    Description

We live in a beautiful seaside place in Westport, Ireland, a popular destination for travelers. Westport is well known for its beautiful landscape and lively town. Plenty of activities to be had in terms of sports (e.g. surfing, park run, fishing, kayaking) and cultural offerings (e.g. plays and music). You can stay in a garden room independent from the main house with its own bathrooom and kitchenette. If you like peaceful and quiet living, our site is perfect for that.

We are a multicultural family and you will learn not only about Ireland, but also about British and Southeast Asian culture. We have lived outside of Ireland for many years including Nigeria, Colombia, the Philippines and Malaysia; we love travelling and being in touch with different cultures.

    Help

We live in an unused farm 8km from the town of Westport, Ireland. We are trying to reclaim the land which is a bit overgrown using a handheld strimmer. We are also developing an organic garden, build a shed, restore the rainwater system and do some general maintainance e.g. painting around the house. Another way you can help is with general chores around the house, like food preparation or cleaning. You many not necessarily have experience in all these but skills in some of these areas will be appreciated. Help will last 4 to 5 hours and would generally be from 8am to 1pm followed by lunch.

    Accommodation

A garden room independent from the main house with a (double) sofa bed, its own bathroom and kitchenette. You will be responsible for cleaning and tidying it up just before you leave.

You can prepare your own continental breakfast in your room but we can supply the ingredients and you are most welcome to share our lunch and dinner in the main house. You are welcome to cook with us too!

    What else ...

During your free time, you can borrow our bicycle and go on a cycling path called the Greenway that connects our area to Westport and Newport. You can also do trekking and there are beaches you can go to by hitchiking. Or you can go kayaking right at our doorstep. During the summer months we also go fishing by boat sometimes and you are welcome to join us in those trips.

There is no public transport from our place to town so the only way to get around is by bicycle or by hitchhiking, which is generally safe to do in Ireland. If someone is going to town you can of course get a lift with us.
