Cyril landed at my place with a revenous hunger for a hard days work. I only wish I had more big jobs ready to go so I could better exploit his enthusiasm. He was a great puppysitter for my wee Pip and I know she loved his time here. I wish him luck out there and I hope he visits again.

We were only with Damon for a week and could quite happily have stayed for several more.. but I think immigration might have objected. Damon joked that we should just overstay and the govt would pay for the deportation flight !

Accomodation during our stay was just a basic caravan, but we felt more than welcome into his quirky home. I am still in awe that he has an eel in the river that comes to his call ! Last, but not least, apple of everyone eyes, Pip, always rewarding our attention with more shennanigans. If you get the chance to spend time at Damon's -take it.

My time at Damon's really was such a great experience during my stay in New Zealand. His home is very beautiful and calm, surrounded by green, birds and lots of flowers! We had dinner every day together, and most ingredients were home-made/grown! I stayed in a campervan, which was very comfortable and offered enough privacy too! The overal

Damon learned me how to make my own sourdough, and we also gathered some fresh mussels together! We had some great conversations and laughed a lot too, Damon definitely has a great sense of humor. At the end of my stay, he even let me rent his van for my last week in New Zealand, for which I am still very grateful. Thank you Damon, for such a beautiful time!! :))Photos

Damon's home is warm and welcoming, in a stunning oasis of lush green vegetation, flowers, trees, organic vegetables.... and Damon is one of the most amazing workaway hosts I have ever had the pleasure to meet and spend time with.... along with his cute puppy Pip.
We spent a lovely week, taking Pip for walks, visiting the beautiful beaches in
… read more Banks Peninsula and exploring. I helped with peach / hazelnut harvesting, prepped peaches for dehydration, made a large batch of savoury peach sauce and cooked up crumbles for Damon to enjoy in the winter months... along with learning how to make Sourdough bread from its starter. Damon was kind, generous, great company, and very knowledable about many subjects, taking us to see the baby seals and an enjoyable visit to his local pub. Our accommodation was a caravan on his property, set away from the main house, affording privacy, which was warm, dry and a very comfy bed. If you're near Christchurch I definitely recommend seeing if Damon has space!

We were planning on staying with Damon for one week but ended up staying for two. That seems to happen to most workswayers who come here. That is because Damon makes you feel very comfortable and at home. His place is super warm and cozy - tucked up on the hillside and surrounded by beautiful native trees and plants. You won’t want to leave! His
… read more dog Pip is super cute and fun to hang out with all day. Our main priority was dog care but we also stayed busy doing small outdoor projects on his property and cooking meals. There is a really cool beach nearby and lots of beautiful scenery in the Banks peninsula. Damon is great to have some insightful conversations with and he is very relaxed and generous with his space. The caravan was warm and comfy for sleeping. Would highly recommend Damon as a host! You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
