Ella and Alina were two German girls who came to us almost straight after finishing school. With a lot of courage they drove to Scotland with their own car ready to take on any challenge. In the beginning a bit shy they quickly learned what was needed in the hotel. Whilst Alina preferred to do the background work Ella was always ready for a chat with the guests, such making them fell welcome straight away. Both did the rooms and the cleaning of the house, helped in the kitchen and with serving breakfast and dinner. Alina is an excellent baker and often made our guests and the crew happy with her yummy cakes. It was a pleasure to host Alina and Ella. We think that both girls, each in their own way, will make a success in their life and we wish them all the best for it.

I had a positive and nourishing experience and I’m truly grateful for the time I spent there. The place is absolutely beautiful and peaceful, surrounded by mountains and nature. During my stay, the weather changed frequently, which sometimes made it difficult to start, continue, or complete outdoor tasks. Because of this, I mainly helped with cleaning the common areas, some weeding, and collecting firewood. I would have loved to contribute more to the ecological construction project, but unfortunately it wasn’t available during my two-week stay. The listed cultural exchange and learning activities were not part of the daily routine but took place during special events organized for guests. However, I was always welcome to use the salon and the materials for my own meditation sessions :) I had no phone signal, but WiFi was available around the main house throughout the day. I really enjoyed sharing time, conversations, and meals together when the hosts were available. I wish there had been more of this, but I still truly appreciated those moments. The meals were healthy, nourishing, and sufficient, and they were shared in a warm community spirit. The hosts were always in communication to make sure volunteers were doing well. Overall, I truly enjoyed my time there and the people I met, and I’m very thankful for the experience.

Christina was so amazing to work with! She is such a great organizer and so creative too! For example, she designed and decorated beneath my sea almond trees and it was so perfect! Thank you! Please let me know if you ever come back to Utila again because you are always welcomed to stay!

Sinead was a really lovely volunteer to have with us. She was friendly, respectful, and very easy to get along with from the start. Always positive, willing to help, and happy to take responsibility when needed. She connected very naturally with guests and the team, which made a big difference in the social atmosphere. You can tell she genuinely cares about people and brings a very warm energy. We would gladly welcome her back anytime and can definitely recommend her to any future host.

We spent three weeks at Sonía s and Derek s farm and it was absolutely wonderful!!! We really liked the work, because it was flexible and adapted to our possibilities and ideas. On top we learned so much about permaculture and alternative ways to fertilize. Our two kids loved the Farm life too, especially the chicken and cats. The studio, where we slept was cosy and well equipped. Sonia and Derek are warm hearted people. We had so much fun together ! For sure we will come back!! Thank you so much, amigos 😊

Our two weeks with Hiroshi meant so much to us and will always be a special memory from our time in Tokyo. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed not just as guests but as friends. Hiroshi is truly kind, genuine, and thoughtful, and his warmth made everything feel easy and comfortable. He was always patient when helping translate and made sure we felt included in everyday life. His friends were also incredibly welcoming, and we always looked forward to the Sunday friendship gatherings. Being able to meet everyone, share conversations, and laugh together made us feel like we belonged and gave us a real sense of community :) Because of Hiroshi, we discovered so many local spots and experiences we would have never found on our own. What stayed with us most is his positivity and the way he brings people together. We are so grateful for the memories, conversations, and simple moments we shared. Thank you again, Hiroshi, for opening your home and your circle to us. This experience touched our hearts and we will carry it with us wherever we go. We truly hope our paths cross again one day!

Annika and Udo have been part of our team in January for two weeks. They have been a great help for our project and we were exited to host such easy going, talented and hard working people. We would recommend them both to everyone: they were very down-to-earth, reliable and brave people who really grow into a part of our team as the exchange and communication was always uncomplicated. They have been interested in everything we have explained and were not afraid to work with machines and tools new to them, drive or wheel loader or learn new things. Annika and Udo have been open to all kinds of tasks and they didn’t mind getting their hands dirty or working in cold weather conditions (January was not really comfortable weather wise). We would host them again any time and hope to stay in touch.

Hello 😊 I’m writing this message with some delay because my journey through Thailand has been very intense and a lot has been happening. I spent not just a week but around 10–12 days with Kitty, and I remember that time very warmly. The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. The tasks I was doing gave me a lot of satisfaction, especially because I could use my skills. I was doing small renovations, repairs, replacements, and preparing hotel rooms for guests. The work was varied, so every day was interesting and rewarding. I’m very happy that I could spend that wonderful time there. It was my first volunteer experience in Asia, found through Workaway, and I’m truly grateful for this opportunity. I also have to mention that Dino’s smoothie stand is amazing! Thai smoothies are fantastic, and mango sticky rice is absolutely incredible 😄 Thank you for the opportunity to be part of this place. Thank you, Kitty, and your whole family for your kindness and hospitality 🙏

Matty's nature and humanity are very good, and he used to respect my family a lot and help my family, and I also showed Matty my village and asked him to meet the people of the village and let him see how the people of my village live, and we also visited a city called Patan far from my village where Ran Ki Vav is located, we also visited Mothera Sun Temple and my family members were very happy and talked a lot about each other's lives and we also got a chance to know each other's lives, and we also got a chance to know about the culture of India and South Africa, Matty helped my family a lot and showed me how farming is done in my farm and how vegetables are grown, Matty, thank you very much for coming here and we got a chance to know you and your life, thank you very much again from Krishna

Dear Mayuko Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We truly appreciate your kind words and thoughtful reflection on your stay in Kigungu. It was a pleasure having you with us, even for a short time. We are very grateful for the support and care you shared with the children during your volunteering at the school. Activities like drawing, origami, and playing together may seem simple, but they mean a great deal to the children and create lasting, joyful memories for them. We are also happy to hear that you felt welcomed by our staff and community. One of our goals is to ensure that volunteers not only contribute but also gain a deeper understanding of the lives, backgrounds, and environment of the children we serve. Knowing that your time here was meaningful to you encourages us greatly. Thank you once again for your openness, kindness, and willingness to support our work. You will always be welcome in Kigungu, and we hope our paths may cross again in the future. With sincere gratitude, Francis

I am really glad my first workaway experience was with Marco. This man is welcoming, caring, helpfull and really make sure you are comfortable. I arrived here with 2 or 3 hours late because I didn't had any data i didn't know where to go, and still welcomed me with open arms. He cares so much that, knowing that I didn't ate meat and smoke, he asked me if I had a problem with people around me eat meat and smoking just to be sure. And during my stay here he also hepled me getting my NIE. Fulvio and Lola his dogs are sooo cuuuute and irresistible, not cuddling them is impossible. The work we've been doing here, out in the open of the country side, is physical but not tiring and like i said before Marco will make sure you are comfortable. He is the definition of nice and easy going. Thank you so much for your time, help, patience and for welcoming in your canine family.

Our experience at Hiri and Sophea’s farm has been unforgettable. We spent two wonderful weeks sharing moments that we will always remember. Our tasks included helping to plant cacao seeds, preparing the soil by burning rice husks, harvesting coffee and roasting it. All the tasks are very manageable since it’s only three hours a day, and the time goes by very quickly. We also had the chance to taste the incredibly good coffee they grow on their farm. For us, it has been very rewarding to get to know them, and we truly appreciate the way they shared everything with us and how well they treated us from the very first day. We shared this experience with Baret and Mr. Lee, two souls we will never forget either. Thank you for the laughter and the beautiful moments — we hope we can see each other again someday. A big hug to Hiro, Sophea, Hirain, and Nimet from Juan and Lucía ❤️

This was my 6th WorkAway in India. It was a heart warming experience. Bharat and his wife, Anita made the three Workawayers part of their family. The school community welcomed us with open arms. Foreigner visitors to the school are definitely adding value to the programme. I would advise that workers go prepared with ESL games and ideas. It is a beautiful district with scenic walks, it is well worth travelling the back roads. I travelled from Jaipur by night bus and again from the nearest bigger town by night bus to Mumbai. This is a highly recommended rural experience.

I really enjoyed staying with many dogs and seeing all the dogs are very different. I haven't had a pet, but now I'm thinking of having a pet after going back to my country.

We spent 4 weeks (with a little break between) on Daniele and Annalisa's land and had really good time, even though the weather wasn't always the best (more bagnato then asciutto :D). It was the perfect place for our first Workaway experience and we are really excited to see how their project will grow. We were able to manage our work independently, make plans all together for each day and could talk about everything. We built in this weeks windows for the house and a dog and chicken house as well. Annalisa, Daniele and little Momo are truly inspiring people. <3 We can highly recommend them as a host. Thank youuuu!
