    Description

    Hello!
We are a group of 5 people: Wolfi (30), Helen (30), Lutz (31), Vera (30) and Tanja (28) and two dogs. We bought a farm in the beautiful valley of Kainsbach in Northbavaria 30km east of Nürnberg and moved here in January. The farm buildings stood empty for 6 years and we are here to create an organic farm and this means a lot of work, where we can need your help!
14ha forest with own springs and 13ha field and grassland with old fruit trees belong to the farm. Right now we only cultivate the forest and the fruit trees. We own chickens for self-supply and grow some vegetables in the garden.
Our vision for the farm is growing vegetables, holding sheep, baking bread in a wood stove, growing mushrooms, cultivate more fruit trees and nut trees and do youth welfare in context with the farm.
The farm is located in the little village Kainsbach. Around Kainsbach there are beautiful hills with rocks and valleys. Perfect for hiking, climbing and riding a bike. For example the Pegnitz Valley. There you can also go canoying. And the lake Happurger Stausee you can reach in 15 Minutes walk and go for a swim! Hersbruck is a beautiful small town 10km away from Kainsbach. In Hersbruck there is a train station where you can take a train to the bigger citys Nürnberg or Regensburg or Bayreuth.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are five young people who would like to get to known other people from other countries. We are interested in other cultures and other languages and also share our culture :)
Our project is a great opportunity to get to know what it means to start a farm from the very beginning and we would like to share this with other people from around the world.

The main work right now is the redevelopement of the buildings. We do a lot on our own, but we also hire local tradespeople and work together with them. So we are learning from them, and you can do as well if you w:)
    So this means:
    - demolitions
    - remove old plaster
    - remove old floors
    - carpenter tasks like supporting a wall (together with a carpenter)
    - electrician works like do the wires (together with an electrician)
    - lay pipes for the heating and sanitary (together with a heating engineer)
    - install windows ( together with a carpenter)
    - cover the roof (together with a carpenter)
    - cleaning up around the farm
    ...

There also already some farm works to do like:
    - making firewood
    - harvesting apples in autumn
    - cleaning the chicken-house

If you are interested in building, renovating and organic life style and you don't care getting dirty then you fit perfectly to us. We are professional farmers and vegetable gardeners, so you can also learn about that in conversations and what it means to establish an organic farm from the very beginning.

We will try to work together with you, but sometimes we have to do paperwork and some of us also go to work outside the farm, so you should be able to also work alone sometimes. But we are five people, so there will always be someone around.
