Had the loveliest time everrrr at Akirah farm! I stayed 17 days ish and I already miss it so much. Suha and Millie are super welcoming and you can tell they've hosted volenteers for years. The beds are comfy, the climbing is AMAZING and the food is delicious. The other volunteers and I laughed a lot and spent hours playing card games. I loved learning about how Suha built the farm and the self suficient water system. It is truly a very special place. It came at the right time in my life and it's definitely switched up some wires in my brain hahahha! thank you thank you thank you Millie and Suha - two very good eggs ;) ❤️

Lily and Jack were a pleasure during the time they spent with us. They worked tirelessly on our LEAVES which were in abundance as we have so many trees. They made a huge difference clearing all from around the house to make it more fire proof, was such a help. Also we had great conversations and enjoyed their fabulous recipes that we shared. A great experience and we wish them well in their future travels.

Lale and Jakob joined as volunteers at in October 2025. Since the beginning of their engagement, they have consistently demonstrated a very positive attitude, strong initiative, and a genuine commitment to environmental conservation. During their time, they actively participated in a wide range of activities, including coral reef data collection, coral transplantation, beach clean-up initiatives, English classes for coastal children, and sustainable agriculture activities. In addition to fieldwork, they also contributed to data analysis and several other supporting program activities, showing both practical skills and analytical capacity. Lale and Jakob worked very well with the team and local community members. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and willingness to learn made them valuable contributors to our conservation and community programs. We truly appreciate their meaningful support and contribution. It is without hesitation that we highly recommend Lale and Jakob for future volunteer opportunities in conservation and community-based environmental programs.

Maraea was an exceptional Workawayer and we highly recommend her. Five stars plus! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟✨💫 She completely transformed our garden during her stay. Her knowledge, experience and initiative were incredible, and she inspired us to move forward with our dream of landscaping the whole area. Maraea works hard, takes pride in what she does, and is able to work independently while also being great company to have around. I especially enjoyed the depth of our conversations while walking and talking together. She brought positive energy to our home and fitted in easily with our whānau. We are very grateful for everything she did here and would happily welcome her back anytime.

I received a warm welcome on arrival at the farm. My host, Vennela, made sure I had everything I needed and quickly helped me settle in. The room was simple and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Thanks to everything happening on the farm and Vennela’s flexibility, I was able to try many activities during my short three-week stay—from soap making and the jaggery process to tending organic vegetables and helping cook delicious, healthy local cuisine. Evenings spent relaxing under the trees were especially enjoyable. One of the women who works in the kitchen also taught me games she played while growing up in her village. Vennela was wonderful to talk with and learn from. She is generous in sharing her knowledge and always open to learning new things. You won’t find a kinder host. Thank you—I hope to return the next time I’m in India.

I would rate Aimee’s sanctuary as the best in Canada. From the cutes animals, to the coolest people, having fun while working, beautiful mountains all around, delicious dinners, so many learnings about caring for animals with special needs!! 12/10 I spent almost 2 months on Aimee’s farm, and it is safe to say.: I had an absolute blast :)) You’ll feel immediately at home, will laugh so much you are about to pee your pants and will be inspired by Aimee’s deep passion for animals. I can highly recommend Aimee as your next workaway host! Thank you, Aimee & everybody (two and four legs) for making this farm such a special place! I hope I’ll see you all again :)

We worked here for 3 months and it was great! As a couple we had a private room to share. It was bunkbeds but there a bit space, a little desk. The work was not complicated yet very methodic. Only 4hours a day and 2 days off a week. We had 3 different shifts and we rolled with the 2 other staffs. It may change in the future but just for info how it was for us in 2025-2026 : 1) Morning : Breakfast & cleaning (rooms and/or communs) 2) Daytime : Cleaning (mostly communs) 3) Evening : Bar & café Nozawa Onsen is such a nice little village, every client compared it to other big resorts and said they love the calm and "traditional" mood here. It is indeed very nice with a few temples & the onsens, even if the population was of course very international, and mostly australian aha! There is more than 10 free public onsens you can enjoy. The snow is crazy, we never saw anything like that. And we had 2 ski passes to share with the other staff & managers (6 persons), but it felt like it was enough for us, we had a lot of times to go out on the mountain. We would definitely recommand for any snow lovers !

Thank you to this wonderful family for a great 2 weeks! I really enjoyed my time working on this project, getting to know a Panamanian ecosystem from the ground up. It's a wonderfully peaceful property and Kobus, Herge, and Dion do a fantastic job at making you feel like part of the world. I learned how to do many new skills, witnessed and learned about countless new species of flora and fauna, and ate some really fantastic food doing it (Herge's baking alone makes it worth it!). Santa Catalina's Estero beach is only about a 45 minute walk away and you're able to get a lift from someone passing practically every time. If you want a way to enjoy Santa Catalina while feeling like you're actually doing something helpful, I really recommend volunteering here! Thank you again to the family for your knowledge and hospitality! Until next time:)

Johanna was one of the most willing volunteers to help in any task, little or big, in the farm. She was attentive constantly to give a hand, and her farming background was guiding her to do a great performance in all the chores she worked at. Her constant smile and good mood were very pleasant to watch. One more good German friend to add to our list.

:) Gracias 🤍

This was a truly amazing place to stay and to participate as a volunteer. I had the most beautiful time in this place, where the time flies like its a dream. The community that was build in the short three weeks that we stayed felt like a family. The family members and all our lovely volunteers made this place feel like home, the dinners we got to share as well as all other activities and workshops where really heartwarming. I enjoyed all the things we where involved in, the dog shelter, the school project, cooking together and of cause all the beautiful things we got to create. Work did not feel like work, it just felt like a community where everyone shared there passions, and where we could also get involved in communal and social projects around the island. This is a place for people who like to co create together and thrive together. Thank you so much for this great experience, we would have loved to stay longer, and surely will be back.

I had the most wonderful five weeks working at Natalie, Chris, and Sebastian's home. What was going to be only two or three weeks somehow morphed into five, and I still felt reluctant to leave at the end of my stay (though excited to start traveling). Natalie is incredibly welcoming and kind and a deep thinker who loves to engage in deep talks. She gave me some really sound advice about some things that were on my mind, and she even helped me find the van I purchased. She is a problem-solver and comes up with practical solutions for everything. I learned so much from her about life, raising hens, eating well, and even about the joys of motherhood. I looked forward to waking up and spending the first part of the day outside feeding the chickens, followed by making breakfast and a café au lait to enjoy out on their big deck every morning. Then I would start on my tasks for the day, usually starting with giving the kitchen a good cleaning since our dinners run late and cleanup is always better in the morning time (if you ask me). These are some of the tasks I would do: make chicken food and feed chickens, move the young chicks outside during the day and then back in at night, collect eggs, hang laundry, line trimming, lawn mowing, harvest corn/tomatoes/passion fruit/hops, bottle homemade beer (Chris' project), deep clean the kitchen (this took multiple days to thoroughly clean and organize all the cupboards and pantry), organize the wood shed, make fresh fruit ice cream, make cheese, clean windows and wipe off fly dirt. There were more random little jobs too but these are the most memorable ones. On Wednesdays is ukulele lessons in town and I went to three of them and had great fun getting out into the community and strumming along to popular songs with a room full of other "ukulelaliens." I felt so much peace in their home and was always in good company between the three of them and their sweet (and beanie) cat Summer. Dinners are a big part of the family culture and something they pride themselves on. Chris does most of the cooking and he makes such good food that you will want to eat even when your body is telling you you're full. If you want to learn anything about cooking, Chris is eager to share his knowledge with you and tell you all about it. Conversation filled the dining room each night with stories and current events, and fun stories about previous WorkAwayers. There's not a word for it in English, but in Spanish the act of staying long after the meal is finished to keep talking is called "sobremesa." We had long sobremesas nearly every evening which I will forever look back fondly on! Thank you three for such an incredible start to my time in your beautiful country!

I had an amazing time volunteering at Mateo and Margaux’s hostel. It’s such a lovely place, only a few minutes from the ocean, and they put so much effort and energy into the hostel. The work is really nice and chill, but still interesting, and you can learn about building techniques or gardening — they are always happy to explain everything to you. The work either involves supporting the “normal” hostel routine, like preparing breakfast, cleaning the dorms and bathrooms, etc., or helping with small projects around the house. The food is amazing! They both cook so well and use a lot of vegetables from the garden. I can highly recommend this Workaway to everyone! I had the best time. Thank you so much to Mateo and Margaux for letting me volunteer and have such a great time — you are amazing :)
